Love it Matt! It took me five attempts to get through this video due to patchy and non existent Internet on our trip. In a few minutes we are going to collect some more native soil and composts for our 2nd Microscope Demo, and I finally got some of that EM from Byron Bay, and met the man who makes it in person. He is a really interesting guy who has a lot of knowledge to share, also!
Just discovered your channel I am growing giant pumpkins this year competitively and I am amazed at all the information that you are putting out and have put out and plan on digging into. It is deeply as I possibly can. Thank you.
I just signed up. My 1st kickstarter!. I'll do the intro course for now because I'm a newbie. ❤ I'm getting an old microscope cleaned up at the local shop. 😊 🙏
Hey Matt, you might want to look into a picture-in-picture setup so we can see the microscope image in HD. I'm not sure how other streamers make that happen (IE; Louis Rossmann or Journey to Micrcosmos) but however they do it it makes a great high quality image for an HD stream. As always great content. :)
BUT I should do a followup summary with the HD clips - it's SO MUCH FOOTAGE, so might as well use it in a way that extends the learning :) :) :) Thank you for the reminder! BTW the most beautiful moment is already posted - it's one of my best images yet and it's an inoculated root fragment from ExtremeGardening Mykos: ua-cam.com/video/MRV4W-VYY6s/v-deo.html
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and time. If possible, please do video showing effects of synthetic nutrients on these products. Thanks and God bless you
Matt I'm deeply concerned that you are showing pictures of microbes copulating...this is supposed to be a family channel there are kids watching...rofl Another great indlformative video Cheers fella much love
You mention at 22 minutes in that good compost has hyphae. I recently saw a video by Dr. David Johnson in which he stated that finished Johnson-Su compost didn’t have hyphae, it only has spores. So I’m not sure the presence of hyphae is necessarily good. That said, my compost has lots of hyphae in it and it looks great to me!
It's important to consult published research, various voices in the space, and to do the work yourself, so you don't get fooled. There's a lot of hipshots flying around ;) I am working to stabilize things by giving people the ability to verify everything themselves.
I went back and watched the video. It’s on the Quorum Sensing Network, NZ UA-cam channel. It’s called “Regenerating the Diversity of Life in Soils - Webinar with Dr David Johnson” At 1:27:40 he mentions there are no hypha in his finished compost. The microbes have almost completely degraded the organic matter and they have run out of food. When that happens, the fungi sporulate and lots of the bacteria turn to cysts. So, I assume that means if the presence of hypha is a good thing, then the compost should be used before it fully breaks down. Thanks for all you do! @@ThePermacultureStudent
@@ThePermacultureStudent I went back and watched the video to see if I remembered it correctly, at my age the answer is often “no!”😁. The video is called “Regenerating the Diversity of Life in Soils - Webinar with Dr David Johnson” and it’s on the Quorum Sense Farmer Network, New Zealand UA-cam channel. At 1:27:40 in the video, he states that in his finished compost, almost all organic material has been degraded and microbes and fungi are running out of food sources. When this happens, fungi sporulate and lots of bacteria becomes cysts. If the presence of hypha is a good thing, then I’m guessing that “harvesting” it prior to it being completely finished is better? Thanks for all you do!
I should point out that the point at which he makes the statement about microbes running out of food, he was showing microscope slides with the spores clearly seen, but no hypha, that’s why he was discussing it - it tied in with the slides he was showing.
I just bought my first scope. What can I use to make my iOS device as a viewfinder? It is a tri scope, so I have the ability to add the camera independently.
Damn this is the exact video I have probably been looking for. Im familiar with these products but this is exactly what I was wondering. Which ones are legit and which are marketing bs. Sweet.
I wanna see plant success organics under microscope they make both a granular and a powder, I used about every product on the market and I like that one in powder form. I have noticed that mycos didnt do anything I think they use something to bind the rocks together and it kills off some not all life. I was looking at another product called microbe life hydroponics photosynthetic plus and they use Rhodopseudomonas palustris and I dont see that much information about that online they claim it goes up into the leaf and could you do a foliar on a leaf and see what it does to the chlorophyll.
Hi David - this was live so I can't edit it. I shared images the following day on social media from our foray and released a video showing that root section up close in all its glory. LIVE's have that limitation. My courses will have all of that edited with closeups etc :)
Last I was weird, unintentional, but dang near land races me mustard, 1 stood full of exo skeletons of aphids, (like a ash wasteland, what it looked like) saved seeds left but did not get rid of chaff because, I hear about kiten, chitin,Fras, essentially insect body's (also finger nail composition) such interesting
Even snails, we get them so much they damn near apply themselves to soil. We dont have rat lung worm here, (at least any cases I've heard of) seems like Hawaii has some of the biggest issue's (if anyone can help them? Sounds like they wont even grow lettuce). Also i still eat slime washed from worthy harvests. Haven't attributed such. I do think about it though.
I will say my grandma bought a roll of copper tape, it may not be economical, but when she explained it to me, she said it kineticly shocks them, they dont like to cross it. I have tried on asparagus, but haven't sat to prove it, cant even say they like asparagus. We do have them bad it might be worth tying.
Saying I tried it at planting, so I cant say I know, (never tested a asparagus bed without copper tape to start, never reapplied, grandma says, so I didn't it established and survived/thrives today ) you the people.

@@chrystalcarter7822 What man in Byron bay that makes EM !? pls tell me more. how do I contact him as well?
Wow! I requested you make this video 2 days ago and you made it a day later. That's impressive. About to dive in and watch. Much love!
It was a brilliant request - thank you for suggesting it! I hope you enjoy it :)

So awesome 👏!! I learned a lot here today. Much appreciated
Spore surfaces are sometimes “ornamented” with spikes, ridges, etc. We use these features to help identify species…
Was there a winner declared based on the analysis?
Super cool examination
Algo go up!!
Fluorescent light spectrum can bleach a sample which destroys the sample, so snap your picture right away when you find it

It would be MUCH more effective to see what you are seeing on your screen rather than a view of You looking at your screen. Please show us the detail.
