Never get tired of the "boys to men" Statler Brothers. From their teen years til they retired, I'll never get enough of what ever they talk about. Find something new each day on Utube. Many thanhs
I am so saddened by this. In the past month we have lost Kenny Rogers, Joe Diffie and now Harold Reid. I have grown up listening to all of them and in my opinion, they are the best generation in true country music. There will never be another group like the Statler Brothers.
I'll be 56 years old in April. My Mom was born and raised in Tennessee and I grew up listening to The Statler Brothers. To this day they are my all time favorite when it comes to Gospel Music. I don't see that ever changing. I love all their music, and your dedication song was just perfect. Every time I hear their music, it takes me back to being a kid when my Mom and Dad would get all dressed up and go to either the Moose Lodge or the American Legion to go dancing. I miss my folks every day, and I know you boys know that feeling. Thanks so much for sharing! ~ APRIL LIPKE
My mother, rest her soul, absolutely loved the Statlers. She would have loved this. Brings back memories for me as well. I'm a rock fan, but was raised on the Statler Brothers. Means a lot to me as well.
My brothers and I always listened and sang their songs. We had a group for a while and did a little traveling to sing at different places. The Statlers were the reason why we started singing in the first place. I will Always love and admire each one of them and their music for as long as I live.
Back in the mid '90s Mercury records released a 3 CD box set of Statler Brothers songs and included a booklet which has some of the photos in this music video along with a complete listing of all their LPs on the Mercury label.
I don't know what to say. I'm still in shock at the news that Harold Reid has passed away. It only seems a short while ago that I saw them in their hometown, and before that met Lew at a high school in Waynesboro, Va. Loved their tv show. Though I love them all, Harold has always been my favorite. I feel like I've lost a close personal friend. Prayers and condolences to Don, Brenda, all the kids, and their other "brothers" Phil and Jimmy. May God bless you all.
thankyou so much for this post.god bless you .they were and always will be the best country band in history.i love the sons doing a tribute for their dads.may they carry on a family tradition.there will never a group like the statler brothers and im grateful they happened my lifetime
Get the book. It's a great read. What a life they have had. They always stayed true to their roots and were the best country group ever. Wish they were still in the music business.
Wow, their sons sound wonderful. I love the Statlers and always will. That's when country was real, not the twerking, guitar smashing idiots that are famous now. Thank you Statlers, lots of memories in those songs.
That is amazing. Cause Will Reid, sounds like and partially looks like don Reid. I love it. Just goes to show you that DNA makes and mixes its own cocktail. It's all beautiful and good. Great voices guys.
Wil is Harold Reids son and he doesn't look a bit like Don he looks like his dad and Langdon looks so much like his dad Don they also sound like there dads in lots of ways
I believe I'm the only 12 year old who knows about all the the statler brother songs it runs in my family from my daddy's daddy then to my daddy now to me
I'm actually impressed with their sons singing talent. When I first heard they were going to sing I was preparing for major disappointment but the song turned out to be really good by their sons.
All i can say the statlers you all were great but Hatold the group would just not the same he was so great you never knew what he was going to do next.
I completely agree with you Paula, I too SUFFER from Crohn's disease, it's a Horrible, Excruciating Painful and very disabling (to some degree) disease to have, And your also right about the stress, When I am stressed it really rears it's ugly head then! Poor Lew had such a battle with this disease, I sure wish they could find a cure for it, hopefully someday they will and we won't suffer with it any longer. God bless and take care ♥♥
I agree with Paula, Lew didn't leave because he could do better...He was very ill that's why he left and they were never the same good but never the same!!
We missed LEW... b/c we loved him. But Jimmy ... you couldn't do better for a replacment... and as the years went by ... We learned to love him just as much.
To Dukeof Ed. You're dead wrong. Lew left the group because of his illness, not because he thought he was better. He had surgery whic h improved his health to the point he made a comeback as a solo artist. Then his he alth took a turn for the wors e & he died August 15, 1990 @ the age of 52.
Do your research...Lew didn't leave because he thought he could do better without them. He left because he was very ill with Crohn's Disease. Stress plays a huge role in this disease...I know because I also suffer with Crohn's Disease...and I do mean SUFFER!!! He was in so much pain for so long, then had surgery that helped for a while. Then this horrible illness resurfaced, as it always does, and, in the end, it's what took his life at such a young age.
He tried going on his own but he couldn't make it because he was so sick but you are right he didnt just leave them he couldn't go on because he was very sick at the time
I’m so very sad to learn of Harold’s passing. I’m sure he’s in a better place and no doubt in the presence of Jesus, and he won’t have anymore pain, so I’m happy for him in that respect, but it’s still hard saying goodbye to good people and great talents. God bless you Harold. We really miss you.
It's not often that a quartet can maintain a successful career, with just one personnel change, with Jimmy Fortune replacing the ailing Lew Dewitt in the early eighties. Phil, Don, and Harold kept the group going for over 30 years though.
RusT THruST I dissagree ... Lew was the orginal... but Jimmy was with the group for many more yrs... I love Jimmy... Hes still touring , doing his own style of gosple .. love him.
@@jeanjones1846 No one ever would have heard of Jimmy Fortune had it not been for Lew DeWitt. Lew discovered Jimmy performing at a ski lodge in the early '80s and recommended him to the other Statlers as his replacement when he had to take a temporary leave of absence (later permanent) from the group due to illness. In the mid '60s, Lew is the one who put the group on the map with his composition "Flowers on the Wall."
Kevin Miller I Believe He Or She was talking about Lew DeWitt cause he was the original Tenor For The Statlers but As You Know He Had Retired For Crohn's Disease and he heard Jimmy while he was on stage a year or so after he retired and he introduced him to the Brothers and they heard him sing and next thing you know he was with the group o For 21 Yrs.

What a beautiful tribute to the Statler Brothers . Thank you for this beautiful memory.🙏

I love this. They inherited the Talent. It was so sad to read about Harold's death. I have always loved their music.

I think my most favorite of theirs is Elizabeth. I believe their Jimmy Fortune wrote it. Great, beautiful song.
Wow, their sons sound wonderful. I love the Statlers and always will. That's when country was real, not the twerking, guitar smashing idiots that are famous now. Thank you Statlers, lots of memories in those songs.
Harold is now gone, but the music lives on.

That's what I was thinking! He definitely looks more like Don.

Good singers and writting
WE DO WANT TO HEAR THEM.
OK, I'm convinced. I'll get the book ordered today.
I just listened to this and they have accents. Never noticed before.
They are from Staunton, Virginia and they definitely have a regional accent.
They look and sound just like their dads.

AWESOME job guys. Any chance they will have one last reunion concert??????
Nope. They retired from the stage in October 26, 2002.

Will you ever take these old country videos off there taking up space
No. We appreciate seeing these videos of our beloved Statler Brothers. So get over it.
