A time a place a feeling we all long for so deeply. My Doo Wop now at 79 is healing, warm, wholesome, comforting, and I seem to feel arms around me slow dancing once more. It just makes me feel alive. It's "Our" place, time and feeling. God bless us who have that little spot that will forever be "Lost In the Fifties!"
Absolutely, I to at 79 listening to this music brings me back to those great times. High school dances and driving in my convertible in the 1960's with the top down with my girl by my side without a care in the world.... please take me back to those fabulous times. Never forget!
James and everybody that replied to your pertinent comment. We were part of a hallowed music harmony time...the music was us. It coursed through our veins and brains...It could make us bright or sad, sometimes both at once. It had radiance which projected within us. It still does.
OH LORD this kind of music fulfill my heart with joy and laughter and take me back to memories of my childhood in the 50s and 60s but when i come to my senses and remember i cant turn back time puts me in a sad mood OH GREAT GOD how i yearn and long for those day. Thanks for the music
born in 1945...just in time to grow up in the time of magnificent doo wop era and also play in that time also...saxophone with the groups I was with....fantastic times.......miss ALL OF THE LOST YEARS...enjoy life when you're YOUNG you all, because it goes by........REAL FAST.....be well everyone, beat that lousy COVID.19. GOD BLESS...........
I used to play this 45 forever and this was the version I have been playing all this time. I didn't know it was Lou Christie in the background,??, but being born and raised in Pittsburgh Pa, I am so proud of the many great singers like Lou Christie. Love this song!!!
What a great song to dance to....with your favorite squeez on Friday night dances. Cheek to cheek you whisper the words in her ear as she squeezes your hand. Now that's a memory.
Definately best version of this song. I was a member of the Laura Lamar High School class of 1964. Laura Lamar High Schol was located in Homer City, PA.
there are no more handsome guys ,,,who truly know how to dance to this RIDICULOUSLY PULSATING MUSIC,,,where are they,,,such a spectacular and PENETRATING SONG that's a precious GIFT for this UNIVERSE and galaxy to behold,,,EPIC
My favorite song of all time. It overwhelms me each time I hear it. It truly takes me back to when I was 17 yrs. old and the breakup with my first love.
Just a note Johnny Jack was from Pittsburgh (Gibsonia Pa)...this song was played by most Pittsburgh DJs as a closing number, at all the dances ...wow so beautiful...a very special hello, to Sue Rehea...West View
Today on UA-cam listening to Kenny Vance and Donnie Owens sing this song. Donnie's version was what I grew up with, therefore, my favorite. There seemed to be such heartbreak in his voice. But, how did I never hear this version? Another take on it. As good as it is, Donnie's version is forever my favorite.
I still like Donnie Owens' version best. His was recorded in my hometown of Phoenix, Arizona, at Audio Recorders, located about five blocks from my house. Duane Eddy played on at least one take of the recording. I also this version. Thanks, PJ. You always give us the best.
Like you Jim I prefer the Donnie Owens original. It's a great song, by Buddy Wheeler, but to me, this version is "over-produced". Sometimes more is less.
I'm 58 they dont make songs like this this anymore . Only songs I lisson to 50s/ 60s 70s /80s after that it went down hill . Cant stand this changing world it going to fast for me. Want to get off and go back to the the 50s.
Nice. I’m sorry if something bothers you. I keep apologizing… You are here. How reassuring that is for me. Thanks. Tomorrow will be a better day. Thank you so much as always. Zzz…⛱️❤️
great pittsburgh song! TL played this all the time in the "Music for Young Lovers" Got this straight from Lou Christie - He sang the low backup with Johnny, while Mary Jo Trope sang the high part.

What a great song to dance to....with your favorite squeez on Friday night dances. Cheek to cheek you whisper the words in her ear as she squeezes your hand. Now that's a memory.
Excellent, the up-right bass player is outstanding, hitting those low bass notes with perfection and perfect timing, a true professional.
madminute....so true. Thought I was the only one who appreciated bass players on these songs.
Spot on!
Very smooth, very beautiful classic ballad...

I always liked the shadow fonts. It's most commonly found on NY records although a lot of Pittsburgh labels used it too
