- I was fortunate to get the new Garmin Livescope Plus technology a couple months before it was available to the public and spent a lot of time testing the settings, limitations, and improved image quality and signal processing to give a full report on the newest forward-facing sonar technology from the originators at Garmin. I have also spent a good bit of time at Garmin headquarters and on conference calls with their engineers to fully understand how these products are developed.
Here is my starting point for settings with Livescope Plus:
Downloaded and Installed the latest 27.10/ 2.58 updates.
Trolling motor calibration done with ARHS on.
Color Gain: 55.
TVG: Off.
Noise Reject: Low or Medium.
Ghost Reject: Auto.
Gain: 62-68 (depending on sediment).
Color Limit: 30-40 (depending on sediment and Gain settings).
EQUIPMENT USED
• Garmin Livescope Plus - wired2.fish/3xOIoyy
• Garmin GPSMap1242 - wired2.fish/3OCspcO
• Garmin Force Trolling Motor - wired2.fish/3vGdiXo

They even got us staring at screens while fishing too.
Who’s they?
Savvy Savage You know........”they” 🐠🐟👈
What's the problem? You stare at your phone and TV all day. That isn't a problem?
@@Rubo7 I think that was his point. That we are already staring at tv and phone screens and now at our graphs. I’m still trying to figure out who they is though
@@savvysavage1857 well they think we stare at screens all day when we go fishing but that's not true. I take my kids out and help them rig up and how to fish. I get to spend family time with them fishing. The livescope helps us locate the fish and figure out what they are doing. For me it's a tool. Idk why people get so butt hurt from others using livescope.
This is a top notch video! Great job being clear and informative.
Much appreciated Jonathan.
Thanks man, you explained the color limit and gain perfectly.
Glad to hear it and happy to help.
Excellent, got mine coming Friday!
This is agreat video on this subject! I just got mine and watched several videos but most are a grumbled up mess and confusing... thx!
Great video sir please do more on crappie fishing with this new plus system would like to see more before I get one. Thanks!
Got a questions. I'm looking at the Garmin GPSMAP 1243xsv Touch-Screen Fish Finder/Chartplotter and the Garmin GPSMAP 1242xsv GPS Chartplotter/Sonar Combo without Transducer. Which one you recommend. I'm just using it for livescope but the fine details is a must for me and I don't mind spending a little extra. Please help. Thank you
Do u like the transducer on a separate pole for bass fishing or on trolley motor maybe a video in future on that great debate please explain
I installed this optic on a crossman 760 air rifle.I have now shot the riffle around 500 times during target/plinking practice, and the ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope has done well. With this optic, I have neutralized around 30 pigeons that were invading one of my buildings. For my short range air rifle, I will continue to use this scope, but will be upgrading to a more powerful scope, when I buy a more powerful air rifle, in order to shoot at longer distance. For the money I have spent, this scope has truly been a great buy.
Can you use the same sd card for both the 27.1 and 2.58 update?
Where can I find the LSV34 o can’t get my hands on one anywhere, can you point me in the right direction. Thanks
Will the lvs34 work on the transom forward facing while trolling
Hello, I just bought the. New garmin 8612XSV. And I just have a couple. Of questions 1st, will my new graph link up with the Minn kota I pilot link? When I look on the minn kota website, it doesn't really say, and it would be nice to know before I go and purchase one. The only. The reasonn I'm purchasing one is because I can't seem to find a garmin bowmount that is for salt water my. Next question? Can I run my existing Existing HDS7 Lawrence through my garmin with the nema 2000 cable? And if so, how does that work.? Thank you and I really appreciate your time.
What screen resolution will the 34 support? Will it support the 8600 HD resolution?
What is the difference between the GPS Map XSV and regular GPS Map?
Man thats a nice set up...
Can live scope trans be used with older 9sv series? not a tourny fishman but curious ..do the gatekeepers allow live scope in tournys?
Will the newer LiveScope LV34 work with my EchoMap Plus 73SV?
Do black boxes get old, is it worth getting a new one?
Hit the nail in the head great info 👌
Thanks so much for watching!
3:23. Source not found. Does this happens a lot? What is the cause? I have got rid of active target because no source error and I want to buy Garmin, but I am afraid of the same situation as with Lowrance.
Idk how people get these amazing pictures, I never know how to get my settings dialed in.
Do all the apps go through live captain app?
Whats with that constant gls disconnect message?
Great video, I'm using one of these units in Australia. Can you please advise me how you change the depth increments when using livescope? I have noticed yours are in 2 feet increments. The factory settings is in 10 metre increments. Thanks
It depends on how far you have the depth or range set up
What brand sunglasses are those? 🤔
I've heard Arizona outlawed game cameras for hunting, do you think this might be an issue in the future with fishing
No. The fishing industry is making money off this. Plus, fish bag limits don’t change.
Is it twice the price
And what retail price can we expect
Do you have any experience or opinion about using the Rite Hite or the All Aboard transducer poles/mounts. Thanks in advance.
I love my rite hite.
@UClDbrSev4g-wYXv-ex5mNuw Thanks. Did you do the foot or remote control ?
So How Does it work like that?
I cannot find one for sale anywhere.
Do one update give you all the new stuff or do you have to do multiple updates?
can you change that green and lime color to red and orange colors, for me the you tube videos with orangish red seems more identifiable of the crappie
Здравствуйте эта голова совместима с датчиком 62 паноптикс?
Looks pretty amazing.
The definition at 60-70 feet away is unreal.
Do you think, at some point, we’ll make this stuff TOO good?
We’ll fish ourselves out of fish, so to speak, because of this stunning technology?
Kinda the old ….”we figured we COULD, and were dazzled….but we never thought to ask if we SHOULD?”
Good video.
For sure we will want to manage smaller fisheries that we don’t overharvest now that anglers have so much information available to them. I think on bigger bodies of water a lot of us are chasing fish we never would have caught before. Fish that suspend and wander out over open water. Or on small pieces of cover in deep water we could never target before. A biologist once told me that more crappie die of old age on KY Lake than are caught because there are so many fish out on the river that never ever get fished for. Now we’re able to see and target them. So I definitely see it both ways.
@@Wired2Fish Now we’re able to see and target them. So I definitely see it both ways.
Youve really hit on the root of the problem we can now target fish we couldn't before....so you can bet people will!
Since a very high number of anglers are what I would call, "limit anglers,." that is, their goal is to catch their limit as often as possible.... well, it leads one to wonder where that tipping point will be. Or perhaps, more to the point - when?
Thanks you r feedback.
Yeah, I wonder when fishing is no longer fishing.
I think most serious fisherman through bass back into the water, crappie on the other hand most likeky keep, i know when i crappie fish i find myself through most back even if they are just at legal limit.
I think you make a very valid point. I started fishing in the UK in 1978 and at that time we were just moving into the modern age of shared knowledge but that was usually through a weekly or monthly publication, books and a quick chat in the fishing tackle shop. Then mobile phones and the internet happened. There was no longer such a thing as bad equipment and the fish never really stood a chance from that point. But even that wasnt enough and we now have over stocked commercial fisheries where even relatively inexperienced anglers can quickly learn to catch 100 lbs or more of fish, such is the level of greed and entitlement in some humans. I rarely fish now but whenever I do its on very lightly fished waters and I am more than happy just to catch the odd fish. Regarding fish finders its yet another piece of equipment that tips the balance ever further in our direction and at this rate we will soon have to change the name of the hobby from fishing to catching.
Great review. I have a new boat with all Humminbird. Including the Mega Live. Seems I have been installing updates every month to address issues. I'm just not happy with what I'm seeing on screen. I would say 50% is probably a result of inadequate setting (my fault). But it sure seems like Garmin is better. I fished as a co-angler at Truman Lake this past week. All the pros that had Garmin could clearly see those brush piles with fish on them. I think it's time to make the switch to Garmin. Thanks again sir.
Just hope that your Humminbird keeps working. Mine took a crap last year. I've had it to the dealer 4 times, the boat factory twice, and Humminbird won't even bother calling me back even thought it's a known issue. It was under warranty during that time, they messed around until it wasn't under warranty anymore and said we can't do anything now. This all went down over several months. I'll never buy a humminbird product again.
I use mine to watch dynamite go down lol. Fishing is good where I'm at
I have always used hummingbird's. But my next buy will be Garmin equipment.
Thanks for the video 🫡🫡
Great video!
I'm new this forward facing sonars and I'm trying to do my research because I'm getting ready to take the plunge and from what I have gathered the current system is going to run me around 2,500.00. Please correct me if I'm wrong but from what I understand I need a 1. graph 2 transducer 3. black box....does that pretty much cover it...those 3 items? and can anyone tell me what is the best one to get? largest screen I can get with that 2,500.00 budget and also If I decide to get 2 graphs and put one at the console can I get the same 2 graphs and network them with a ethernet cable. Any advise or help with this would be so much appreciated. Like I said I'm learning about these at the moment and trying to get the best deal for the money. Also...if anyone know of a company running a sale or a coupon/rebate on these would be great too.
Reach out to Stephen Estes at bass fishing electronics. He can get you set up with everything you will need.
@@gt_fishing Thanks Gary
Updated my garmin over the winter and made it damn near unusable like many others have had happen. Apparently the new update fixes that so fingers crossed.
Yeah the latest 27.10 and 2.58 updates are VERY good. A lot of guys on original livescope are telling me they got a much improved screen than they’ve ever had. Even before Color Limit became an option. Knowing how the settings work together helps more than anything. One setting usually affects several others.
@@Wired2Fish that's really good to hear. Literally just got done updating it. Nervous to see if mine works better now.
@@Wired2Fish mine says it's the 2.58 now. What's the difference between that and 27.1?
@@megadeth6756 27.1 is for the gpsmap chartplotter and 2.58 is for GLS10 black box. Both are the latest updates from Garmin.
@@zbassr2106 thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
Having my face stuck in some electronic unit just don't crack my nuts.
I must have a special transducer I got a lvs32 does same thing 🤷 I don't see $1600 worth of difference
new subscriber
Thanks for subbing!
Great device
I like how you explain the stuff it’s just I feel like you explain a lot about the debris but I will not keep up the good work
Good tech but this is like playing a fishing game. surely it takes the expectation out of fishing, may as well get in the water with the fish.
we have game cameras getting better for deer and Turkey hunting, now fish is high tech
Hate to sound like a Boomer but the live views have made tournaments much less fun. Guys who could never compete can now by looking down at the screen all day. They work great but I’m not a fan.
This clown and other users of live scope are terrible fisherman they need all the help they can get!😅
That's why we should start limited tech or no tech tournaments....
11:14 I have advice how to clean Your screen. Take a napkin
why not just use an underwater drone w camera. I think all this stuff has gone too far nothing like the old cane pole w hook n bobber
This take all the skill out of fishing and is going to add more pressure on fish.
It's a different fishing experience, for sure. Some love it, others not so much. You still gotta get them to bite. No arguing that it puts more pressure on the fish.
No what it does is piss people off they can see the fish but cant get em to bite.
Crazy to use something like this . If you want to look at a tv screen while fishing you should just stay home on your couch playing PlayStation
We need live scope to win bass tournament not catch fillets
There is the difference . What will you do when fishing without it
I definitely se a broken rods on the bottom of the boat and very few fish
What happend to knowledge?
Wipe your screen off fella!
This is almost cheating 😂
Outta be banned in tournaments. Straight up cheating
Anyone who has this is obviously a terrible fisherman
Technology has gone too far. It allows for less skill and more reliance on using a device. That's all there is to it. This point doesn't just apply to fishing.
Bass "fishermen" are a f....ng joke. You guys seriously now need a live view of a damn fish that will literally bite anything? Especially during spawning season?
Fish like a man and throw that thing in the water. At least MLF is banning these.
Kids and their video games
Men with expensive toys
Sorry, that's NOT fishing.
Nobody needs livescope. We’re sick of seeing it. It should be banned from tournaments.
this is ridiculous
Thanks for puttin me to sleep -_-
Good night
