Somehow I feel that the translation of Moe given by Yuta is not 100% accurate. IMO Moe indicates that the character's are cute to an extreme that it gives anime viewer a sense of orgasm, but not in a sexual way.

How do people like Clannad? 1. Fuuko couldn't possibly be more annoying and she has her own arc. 2. Nagisa has nothing interesting about her yet shes the main girl of the show. Shes like a less annoying version of Fuuko. 3. The MC's best friend is always treated badly and he treats others badly. 4. IMO the only likeable characters on the show are the 2 sisters, the gray haired girl, the MC, and the older characters like Nagisa's parents.
More like the shounen anime we consider popular internationally (e.g. naruto,one piece,bleach) aren't considered good animes in Japan. They prefer the manga rather than the anime adaptations. Notice this youtube channel asked about "anime" and not manga.

i'm a foreigner and i was to akihabara in august, There, i realise that foreigners have more knowledge on anime than japanese...and i think its mainly because of the medias used for watch anime....for foreigners you can watch all the anime existing on one or two website only...i show them some of my website and they were stunned by the number of anime...in japan they dont use illegal streaming like us :p and buy entire season on dvd for expensive cost.... so i think japanese watch only anime of the season on theirs medias, and dont watch old anime, and they do many thing at same time like go out with friend, play video games, mangas etc.... its like on hotel ...i was waiting a shower of anime on hotel tv but there was mainly stupid tv show or talk show all the time.

Why do people say illegal streaming sites? They aren't illegal, they are paid for by ad's. The site creators pay a percentage to the anime creators so that they can host and stream anime and the revenue is made from ads and sometimes small donations.
CloverChoco Kiss anime is consider a legal site, animators get a percentage from streaming. However it is illegal to *download* from kiss anime as no revenue is collected. I guess you could call it a grey site but watching the anime itself by streaming is considered legal. However with an adblocker installed it becomes illegal because you are not viewing the adds that are suppose to be paying for your viewing experience.

+Alipt Shrivastava It isn't that they aren't popular, but many of those titles are shonen meant for young/teen boys and most of the people they asked were generally a bit more older and/or female than the target demographic for those series. Most also interpreted the question as what they have been actively watching recently rather than all time favorites, which again makes a lot of those series less likely to pop up in such a small sampling.
Am i the only one who most likes seinen/psychological anime? I find these kind of anime very original and hard to predict, unlike the hollywood bullshit that i can tell the ending by only watching the movie trailer (which is why i started to watch anime in the first place). Japanese people know how to make a good story imo. But i still don't understand anime like Love Live are so popular. The one in the T-shirt is Haruna+cat ears from kancolle. The kancolle community is one of the most recognize one next to the idols. Plus, kancolle are frequent partners with business groups like Lawson(especially during Autumn) and the soundtracks are done by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra(oldest and most famous in Japan)

I am Japanese. I've grown up watching anime since I was little, but Japanese anime is so wonderful that it's very difficult to focus on one. If you say anime that you want foreigners to see, you can still feel the history and culture of Japan in both Naruto and Devil's Blade. Speaking of movies, after all the work of Hayao Miyazaki and Makoto Shinkai. Speaking of animation companies, Kyoto Animation and UFO Table. All the items I would like to recommend more, but this is the end because it has become longer. Have a good anime life!
I went to Japan in April, "popular" is a somewhat understatement in Tokyo, it's almost everywhere and when you get to Akiba well... It's pretty much at every few meters.

Not to mention how skillfully laid out Madoka Magica's plot was! 12 episodes, the story felt neither slow nor rushed, every scene served a purpose, and there were no plot holes or flaws. Its a masterpiece of writing!

1. Fuuko couldn't possibly be more annoying and she has her own arc. 2. Nagisa has nothing interesting about her yet shes the main girl of the show. Shes like a less annoying version of Fuuko.
3. The MC's best friend is always treated badly and he treats others badly.
4. IMO the only likeable characters on the show are the 2 sisters, the gray haired girl, the MC, and the older characters like Nagisa's parents.
The VN did a far better job, though it is the original. The anime is actually based on the game

i'm a foreigner and i was to akihabara in august, There, i realise that foreigners have more knowledge on anime than japanese...and i think its mainly because of the medias used for watch anime....for foreigners you can watch all the anime existing on one or two website only...i show them some of my website and they were stunned by the number of anime...in japan they dont use illegal streaming like us :p and buy entire season on dvd for expensive cost....

ERIK LEROUGEUH Yes that's a very valid point. That's why they will always give you the names of animes being aired or those that have finished airing recently. They ride the fad wave and skip out on the gold nuggets from the past.
Why do people say illegal streaming sites? They aren't illegal, they are paid for by ad's. The site creators pay a percentage to the anime creators so that they can host and stream anime and the revenue is made from ads and sometimes small donations.
That might be the case for Crunchyroll, but don't expect that KissAnime or such sites being legal
CloverChoco Kiss anime is consider a legal site, animators get a percentage from streaming. However it is illegal to *download* from kiss anime as no revenue is collected. I guess you could call it a grey site but watching the anime itself by streaming is considered legal. However with an adblocker installed it becomes illegal because you are not viewing the adds that are suppose to be paying for your viewing experience.

+Alipt Shrivastava It isn't that they aren't popular, but many of those titles are shonen meant for young/teen boys and most of the people they asked were generally a bit more older and/or female than the target demographic for those series. Most also interpreted the question as what they have been actively watching recently rather than all time favorites, which again makes a lot of those series less likely to pop up in such a small sampling.
Also Death Note is from 2006 so it's quite old now.

If you say anime that you want foreigners to see, you can still feel the history and culture of Japan in both Naruto and Devil's Blade. Speaking of movies, after all the work of Hayao Miyazaki and Makoto Shinkai. Speaking of animation companies, Kyoto Animation and UFO Table. All the items I would like to recommend more, but this is the end because it has become longer. Have a good anime life!
