I wish to have a friend like you. I'm currently victim of car insurance claim fraud. Old guy walked in the front of my car. I stopped, didn't hit him. He touched my car and fall backwards. Now 3 years later him and his family suing me for it. Of course I have insurance but I didn't know what is going to happen.
Thanks for your comment. As I stated, I was not trying to hide, rather I was trying to fit into the hiking, dog walking path. If I was all camo'd up or trying to hide, I would have been obvious and would not be able to tell passers by that I'm trying to film a particular bird for example. Hiding is the worst thing for this situation. As far as crouching, I demonstrated using the small tripod so that I could avoid crouching (other than a few seconds). This is called hiding in plain sight.
I have obtained some of my best video of insurance claimants in a rural setting where discreetly being in my surveillance vehicle is impossible. Just last week I obtained video of a subject raking her whole yard, driveway and sidewalk. We had a warm spell here in Tampa Bay and with the rain the previous night the subject had a whole trash can full of pollen she cleaned up. I was in a wooded lot in full camo with a sidewalk 7 feet in from of me. This will help when I have to hide in plain sight.
Very nice work.. I've brought my manfrotto 290 on many rural cases. It of course gets the job done but it's not as compact as I like it and could be perceived as a weapon by a 3rd party from a far distance. Where did you get that tripod? Definitely need to invest in that.
Sorry, forget to mention that I have zero private investigator experience but I do have 7 + years investigating and currently licensed adjuster in florida in insurance claims.my experience in training have been in commercial lines to workers comp & Medicaid. I am located in Tampa fl. And just need chance or a point in the right direction. Your I know you're busy person, so keep up the videos and be safe out there.
Hello I have really enjoyed subscribing and watching your videos. They have really shown to me that I'm heading in the right direction career wise. I am currently putting together a portfolio as you suggested it and also trying how to locate a place where I can receive my cc intern licensing. But my question is would you happen to know any private investigator company that would take on CC interns.
Probably. The wind alone that day (along with the distance) prevented sound from going too far. Wasn't trying to be covert on this one as it was on a dog path. Better to hide in plain sight so to speak.
Shelby, you can get a free trial version of AVS4You. Load the video clips into the video converter and from the "advanced" section select "1 Track" from where it says "subpicture". The converter will then put the time/date stamp on the converted video file and will merge all files into one. They offer a free trial version and after that it's only about $60 for unlimited use. AVS4You has a youtube channel.
You're right but it was a smokey greenish blue until I colorized the footage in post, then it went more blue. I'll look at it again and see if I can turn the shirt into a different color and add it to the video responses for you. hahahaha Thanks for your comment and good eye for detail. jb
John, I see you are using the TM60 on this surveillance, What happen with the V700 you reviewed a few months ago...I just bought a 700 & hope there were no issues with it. Please let me know. TY
Sir, I have a somewhat serious question. What is the general attitude or an investigator/surveillance type when an individual has consistently spotted the very people/persons watching them?
I can't seem to get the date and time stamp to appear on the SD Card after filming.. It shows on the screen but not when you play it back or play it on laptop. Any Ideas?
When I was touring Iraq in 2006, I was assigned to perimeter security as a driver. At one point, I opted to stand post at a gate. There were many other service members. At night, I used to sneak up on other posts and stand right next to someone without being noticed. There were two instances in this video where I would have suspected the boy detected you. He looked down quickly as if to not get caught noticing you. The second time is with the rifle. It doesn't seem legit to me for someone to discharge a firearm in an area with a dog walking path. From my experience living in a specific area for a while, anyone or anything moving just the smallest amount draws attention. In Iraq, we noticed people walking from over 3 miles away with a naked eye. The area became so familiar that any new detail stuck out like a sore thumb. Sounds are even more distinct. But that just might be my own situational awareness. I had to detect a possible IED while moving at high speeds. It just seems like there was a defensive element when all 3 sat out front and that they were looking out into the woods. Plus, you were not alone.
Michelle Allen can’t be sued, law says the eyes can’t trespass! You lay naked on your bed with window open and I’m in my property or property I’m approved to be on, I can’t watch and video you all day; not stalking, not peeping Tom, eyes can’t treaspass
He was not stalking her. Read the stalking laws. Also, he stated the case is in the courts and he is a licensed investigator. That kinda changes things. And, this was only a demonstration case anyway.
Crappy PI. Thats good for the person being surveilled as long as he/she does not make it obvious that he/she sees the PI then the PI won't try to be more covert and the person being surveilled will then always know when the PI is there. In other works don't do anything that would make the PI change his style.
Great vid. About choked when the kid came out for target practice!

Good job. I hid in the woods before and watched my claimant cut grass.
A remote for the video cam is great in these situations..

Thank you for the reply, that's good to know.:)
You remind me of that actor in night before dawn, the admiral on the E4 who ttied to talk sense with the acting president which was the secretary.

Good stuff!
Maybe a brown shirt would have helped on being less visible.

I think it said demonstration not a case in beginning
LOL. Nope, I used the 700 to film me during the shoot due to the wider angle.
You're a cool PI. She is so busted!!
PS: I would have given birth to a whale when that guy walked out with the rifle.
What do you use to send it to the client? dropbox, usb??
