@@LaszloBagi if it's superior then it should've come with that brush out of the box, I'm guessing the reason why it isn't is because it's a lot worse for regular vacuuming and would score less on tests like these.
I have had 2 dreame robovacs, an L10s and a w10. I will not own a 3rd. Both were retired within 18 months after clean water pump failures. Before that, they both developed charging problems when the charging pegs inside the dock damaged the contact pads on the vacuum due to arcing from poor contact. I got around it by using tufts of stainless steel scrub pad affixed to the pegs to increase contact surface area. I switched to eufy on the recommendation of a friend. This one has been completely trouble-free for just over a year so far.
Hey again, Vacuum Wars! Great to see that your still posting awesome content like this! If and when they are released, could you review the Qrevo Slim and the x40 pro (i think in some places its called the x50)? Thanks again.
Does the L40’s side brush spin while on carpet? That was the huge drawback from the X40. It’s hard to tell from your footage, but by slowing down the video speed to .25x it looks like it still does not spin on carpet. Which is just ridiculous to me. Do other people in the world somehow not get dirt in their carpeted room corners and edges?

My friend owns an L40 I convinced her to get since her and I were roommates and she loved my X40 Ultra I got! Hers doesn’t make that noise when cleaning the mops! So it must just be your unit.
@vacuumwars When you update the tests will you please update the vacuum list and the vacuum/mop list? Trying to pick between the QRevo Curv and Dreame L40. Thanks!
Thanks, I just bought this one yesterday with the roller upgrade separately. Long pet hair and cleaning well in corners and along baseboards was very important. The Eufy S1 Pro was something I considered, but since I own the Tineco S6 floor washer, what I really needed help with was pet hair with a robot vac for that problem. Maybe someday I'll retire the Tineco and get a Eufy S1 Pro to supplement floor washing after the Dreame L40 does its rounds. In the spring we have a lot of tree pollen that gets indoors with windows open.
Watching this feels like dejavu of the last Roborock Qrevo Curv video, I guess the companies look at each other and copy their best ideas, the pet camera features, the self cleaning dock, the side brush arms to get corners, all so similar.
i was thinking about getting L40 but then L20 went on "black friday" sale here and was for about 600$ so i took the older one so far quite happy with the purchase
Does this robot has the same issue with the side brush not working on carpets? I read a lot of discussion avout the Dreame x40 ultra and it seems that this model cannot leverage its sidebruah when it detects a carpet on the floor. Is it the same for L40 Ultra?
Have returned two of these already. I have the tricut brush and it is good on hair but pick up on carpet is poor with both brushes. Place a piece of cotton on the carpet and tell me if it picks it up. I don't know how you get the mop to remove those stains because I can't get it to remove much of anything. Also have you actually tested the hot water washing? I put a probe in and it peaked at 30!
What were your app settings? That makes a big difference. You can increase the suction power for carpets and deep clean settings with more water for floor washing. You can also make it do a second pass over certain areas, or rooms. If you have yours set to an energy saving mode then it will operate in low power. It cleans less effective in low power, it sounds like you should have it doing a deep clean if you have a lot of dirt on your floors.
Once again a very good and extensive analysis. The only think I found missing is the carpet shape. There are round and oval carpets on the houses not only rectangular and all off the robot’s have problems with that. The robot mast follow the line of the carpet to vac and mop but instead it stays half on and half off the carpet. This a software update for all brands put more shapes of carpets and follow the edge line for vac and mop. And you should test this , what douroucouli think ?
How did it do so much better on the mopping then the x40 ultra?? that doesn't make sense as it's the same exact mechanism I think. VacuumWars is the only one I've seen that says the mopping is so bad on the x40 ultra...
if i recall it correctly it was deemed as possible fw issue and they wrote that they might repeat the test on newer version but it probably never happened with new machines going out almost each week
We havent checked that one out. The differences in models can really make a difference, so be sure to confirm you are getting one that matches your expectations.
How can you rate the L40 so high? I returned 5 units! 1. Had very very bad obstacle avoidance and did get damaged very very badly after 1 day of usage 2. Dropped water while mopping and wheels made ticking noise when turning 3. Camera was loose so you could put your finger in the camera hole 4. Same behaviour as unit 1 5. Same behaviour as unit 1 and 4 + the same noise as you experienced with the automatic cleaning board: it needs indeed some oil or something. I returned all units and bought the X40 now with Amazon prime deals. Hope this one is better… Black sofa legs or any black leg is an issue for the L40. Also scraping baseboards while turning etc… that hurts the eye and ear… The L40 has one laser instead of two. Dreame says they are working on this. Maybe you also redo the test for the X40. Firmware updates do bring sometimes some changes, like you exeperienced with another brand.
