This was such a bad gaming decision by Nintendo back then. Denying the USA/Europe etc the proper SMB2 was insulting. Also, using another game (Doki Doki Panic) and sticking in Mario characters was such a lazy thing to do; no Mario classic enemies, no traditional music, and no Mario-style gameplay mechanics. If they really had to use this game, they could have at least spent time re-doing it all to make it more Mario. On a positive note though, it did introduce us to some new characters in the Mario universe. These should appear more in other games though.
