As a Protestant studying and learning about Orthodoxy my immediate response to “show me your Saint Paisios” is Jesus. Why do I need the a saint when I can go straight to the Savior? Truly and genuinely why?
@jessgirl8292 The purpose of the Church is to produce Christ-like people. If your church is not doing that, then it can't be better or more true than Orthodox Church, which actually produces Christ-like people like St. Paisios. This is not about needing a Saint, but what kind of fruit your church produces.
@ That makes sense because I’m looking at myself as an individual instead of part of the body of Christ, the Church. But I still have an personal relationship with God, so why again would I seek what I need from anyone other than Him?
@@jessgirl8292 Well, you need to change that. Christianity was always about community, and we partake in Holy Communion with Christ in the Eucharist. We are members of His body with Him as our head. That is why we worship together, take communion together and pray together. 1 Corinthians 12:21-26 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Asking a Saint for a prayer is the same as asking your brother or sister on Earth to pray for you. We are members of the same body and need each other.
🙋🏻♀️ I can answer that. Ex-Protestant for 30 years, Orthodox Christian for 10. I've made many mistakes raising my daughter, some of them emotionally hurtful to her. I have a temper. How is Jesus even close to me in his humanity?? He's not. He was sinless in his humanity, plus, he's a man (and God) so that's an automatic barrier for me too. To obtain his level of holiness is impossible to me and defeats me before I even get out of the gate. St Maria of Paris however, self classified as atheist, married and divorced twice, nearly killed a man....... she came back to God, TRULY gave her life to God, balanced work, motherhood, grief from her daughter's death, caring for others in tireless unselfishness..... if a dirty rotten scoundrel like her can become a Saint of the Church, it's POSSIBLE that I can too. St Elizabeth the new, St Matrona, St Xenia of Petersberg....... my name's sake: St Lydia (in Acts 16). If these women, these sinful mere mortals, can become like Christ, I can too.
@@jessgirl8292 God has given us the gifts of "My soul magnifies the Lord" Blessed Virgin Mary prayer intercession, Angel prayer intercession and Saint prayer intercession. @SaintIzaiah What about his piety and meekness? Something that Joseph Smith (Mohammed 2.0) never had. In his full video, Fr. Paul literally says that miracles themselves are not proof because even demons can perform them. You missed the point. Humble yourself.
This is the dumbest thing I’ve read.
This is your argument? "Saint" Paisios is burning in hell right now
Hahahaha 😅 if he’s in he’ll nobody can be saved
So you are taking the role of God and declaring who is saved and who is not? Too bad. Repent of your prelest.
@@OrthodoxLoner You already declared him saved by calling him "Saint". You are accussing me of taking the role of God and you do the same? Hypocrite
@@Romans-hu3uy It is revealed to the Church by God that he is, as the video points out. But your wicked eyes and ears don't see nor listen.
@@OrthodoxLoner Your church dictates who is saved and who is not. Your church has become your god.
