- I love fallout, I mean who doesn’t love fallout? It is really a great series., all the games really show off the universe, and while not perfect. The show also gave the players more to enjoy about the series. However, as a huge fallout fan there is one thing I’ve also been scared of.
Fallout 1… it’s a game I really tried to get into when I started playing pc games in the summer of 2020. Basically spending 11 not so consecutive hours making a character, going to vault 15, and dying.
Despite my failures, I made sure to never look up any instructions on how one “SHOULD” play the game, and with the want to to actually see what this game has to offer, it’s finally time.
No internet, no guides, no nothing! Can you beat fallout 1 without the internet?
#fallout #fallout1 #gaming #challenge
Impeccably well done, I couldn't survive the character creation screen of fallout 1 with internet.
same but with fallout 3 onwards trying to get my character to not look like a potato
8:40 If you haven’t accidentally named your character ‘None’ on accident at least once. You haven’t truly experienced classic Fallout.
Same with playing Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines lol
If you're this ignorant to skip a fucking character naming and spent in character creation menu less than half of a hour then you probably won't try to experience everything
I purposely do this. Every Fallout MC is named None in my headcanon lol
I recognize the Fallout Sonora General Dixon icon there. Great taste.
So many times in this video I was like "why are you doing that!!" Only to realize that the reason I figured out not to do those things was the internet. Well done
Back in my time we walked 2 hours in the snow to beat Fallout without the internet...
both ways!?!?!??!
2:44 you saw a radscorpion walking into his own home and decided to kill him in cold blood? how could you
I think it's perfectly OK to read the manual which came with the game, that's how we old people beat the game back then when it was new.
We pirated the thing here, as all other games. We went in raw!
Old gamers learned to talk to every single person in every single town to get some info, and do it again after doing some stuff.
@@basdune9534 tbh it was a bit frustrating at times, but that's how things were. Ah, I won't forget the first time I've got power armor, together with my friends back in the late 90s. Lego Samurai were a thing back then!
@@basdune9534 Well, you can save some time by only going for the named NPC's.
Also, best advice I remember from the FO1 manual was when you start specialise, get good at one specific way of killing, and 1 or 2 other skills, and then generalise later on when you have spare points. All in all, Science and Repair were the key skills IMO in FO1.
And my 1 low intelligence character only ever made it as far as Shady Sands but damn it was funny.
LETS GO, ANOTHER ABSORBED TO THE FALLOUT CHALLENGE RUN GENRE
"We're presented an immediate challenge by Steam, which won't allow us to download the game without an Internet connection"
dear future me
please remind me to watch the video first before commenting
I gave up on Fallout 1 when I got trapped inside the Gun Runners by a bugged NPC. I was too frustrated to continue. My previous save was pretty far back.
I felt this
On the bridge? No other way, but to off him. Also Oberstein is better.
@@bjorntrollgesicht1144 ah Oberstein rocks
@@basdune9534 he's the only character with a doggo and not engaging in workplace romance.
This happened to me you have to save frequently
that sounds like a nightmare
did i just get 'nah, i'd win'd in my friendly local fallout video?
Someone I watch did something similar to this once. He called it a "Forced Blind" run. Since Castlevania 2 is often said to be really obscure, he tried to play it without doing anything the game didn't tell him to. Long story short, the game being stupidly obtuse is a bit of a meme, tho twice, he found out that yes, he was lost. Both times, it was on the Translation. And one of them, if you played as intended, you'd have found anyway. It was enlightening
They really should just change that combat speed setting to max by default, everyone always skips settings in this game and suffers for it lol
I got yelled at by a friend for the combat speed when he saw the video XD
You did good. You know, back in the day this is how we used to beat all games. Funny to see you make the same mistakes and pitfalls we did twenty years ago. This means the design works as intended!
I never would have figured this game out without a guide. You're a madman for trying and incredible for succeeding. The military base gave me the most strife with that ridiculous puzzle I would never understand on my own (Fallout 2...was worse).
@joshm7335 there are actually a good amount of context clues within the base that can let you even set the forcefield controls to one of the radios you can pick up.
It takes a lot of reading, searching, and sometimes just random skill checks on new objects but it's possible to find a lot of the seemingly obtuse solutions within the game.
*laughs in elder millennial that played the game when it was brand new*
Back in my day... something about lawns and going uphill both ways while having to pedal start our hard drives...
Games on cassette tape...

No, The Pain is from a different Metal Gear game.
You've become one of my favorite youtubers recently. Keep up the good work, man!
Oh it’s been awhile you got a ton of subs!!! I’m happy you’re still growing :D!

"The darkness of the afterlife is all that awaits you now" 🗣🗣🔥🔥
LOL you have the same synergy as lilgasmask666 and both of you are probably making the best youtube videos i ever watched. Am happy that i discovered your channel
I found you about a week ago,and I'm absolutely in love with your videos. I am super glad to hear youtube has been successful for you thus far.
Now that you done fallout 1 without internet do you think you will do fallout 2 without it? (Excluding downloading, you can consider that the radroach acception)
This video hasn't done as well as other videos, but to me, that doesn't matter! this was still a blast to play and make, and I know I will most likely do one for fallout 2 as well!
Fallout 1 speedruns, the greatest story of a person who blows up 2 buildings
now this is the question we all need answers too. Can a man with a modern mind full of worms and covered in rot comprehend what is needed to complete this convoluted mess of seemingly unconnected tasks,, i myself with stage 4 rot couldn't complete that tutorial without help....
Noice vid man. I'd love to see more of these! Miss seeing this sort of content tbh.
How had I and my classmates managed to beat fo1 and 2 as 12 year olds with no internet, and people today find it hard?
context can be important. back in the day fallout played like any other game. but nowadays most games aren't like fallout or if they are the quality of life is vastly improved
This video is amazing. Simply put. SECONDLY, I might be the few 15%~ that wanna see Kenshi vids. If you got that cooking in the back I’ll be happy to watch asap lol
Its good to see fallout 1 getting some love.
You know when Lars uploaded it’s a great day❤❤❤
I swear 90s gamers are a whole different breed this game is hard bro
They did have internet back then. And FO1 came with a really large manual.
@averagefanenjoyer8696 The internet was nothing like it is now, though (and you weren't likely to find information on games anyway), and yeah, they had the manual, but that doesn't make the game easy
@@Dovah_Slayer the manuals never made a game easy, but they helped teach game mechanics modern audiences would consider obtuse.
@@theorixlux it's still obtuse even when you do have the manual (source my dad played the OG fallout when it came out)
@@Dovah_Slayer no. Source I played fo1
i love watching people experience the OG fallout for the first time. will be watching to see if you do 2. the only hint i will give you...
if you get invited to raid a church with slavers, you can turn around and use the goons they give you to attack the slavers themselves and the goons will help kill their own team.
I used to love doing the Energy Sniper build. 8 Perception, and a unique Plasma rifle and I could 95% them in the eye from the far side of the room with extra crits and better crits. Full power Armour helps too. Also Science and Repair were IMO key non-lethal skills to get in FO1. And Junktowns Killian Darkwater was voiced by MacGyver, which was a big deal back in those days. Just watch old Simpsons episodes about Richard Dean Anderson references. 😊
-Either Shady Sands of another nearby place has rope.
Didn't tryhard and go find a physical copy of the game? I suppose that'd also be pretty impossible to find someone selling a copy without internet..
Impossible warlockracy blew up every physical copy
@@giovannicervantes2053Not to boast, but since missus brought her childhood stuff from her parents, we now have three copies of FO1

My man out here with a Luck stat of 10.
edditings getting better, great job!
Lars shows the wasteland who’s boss part 4!!
I am once again suggesting "Can you beat cyberpunk as a weeb" where you only use in game weapons and clothes shown in the edgerunners anime. (Also great video, really enjoyable as usual)
Lets gooooooooo another banger video to watch on my last day off woohoo!
My first time going through Fo1 was without using the internet. It was fun but I wouldn't recommend it, like you I found there were a few mechanics that aren't explained well and at times I had no idea where I needed to go
I wonder if this video or that one cyberpunk intro is harder…
Gawd I love this channel.
excited for part 2 with fallout 2
I didn't have the internet when I played fallout 1, however the manual that came with the game was good.
My first experience with Fallout 1 was a random encounter literally the moment I left the vault. It was 3 bears.... 3.... bears. I just started the game and I'm being jumped by 3 bears. Good times
you should do fallout 2 next
I love this concept so much I got to comit before I forget lol
War doesn’t change
I played this game years after being a fallout fan and loving 3 NV and 4, honestly fallout 1 was easy to me but I was never able to get into fallout 2, I'm not sure why
I mean, of course you can. I mean, I did, back in '99 when I didn't have the internet.
Should try Wasteland without internet some time. I *really* didn't have internet back in '88
I seem to break every quest chain even with the internet so.. maybe? At least the main quests doesnt break for me.
_"The show is bad because, not only is the timeline wrong..."_
While it's not easy to play Fallout 1 "optimal", I really don't see how it's such a big deal. Take everything that's not nailed down, talk to everyone, and eventually all the places you can or should go to should become clear. I played F1 in 1998, without help (as far as I can remember).
The real "how could you do that without the internet" would be 90s adventure games. Even us old gamers needed walkthroughs now and then, helpfully provided by an abundance of gaming magazines.
You could've... found rope all the way back in Shady Sands... 😅😂
Fun to see it played by someone that doesn't know a thing about it!
Seems like anyone that's recorded a playthrough, has at least some idea of where to go.
I have finished Fallout 1 on Pentium 1 PC... without Internet or manual...and knowing like 4 English words (when i started)... good times 🙂
The F1 key is a valuable tool in fo1
How could you miss the rope in shady sands?
i can't believe you used the internet to install the game, how could you....
Borger :3
Oingo boingo hot dog
Borger! :3

I'm gonna be simping you, just a little bit...
Can you beat Cyberpunk 2077 without taking any (not forced) damage?
Bro there a rope on the first guy you see in shady sand how do so many people miss it
Yes Fallout 1. Perfection. This game has by far the best atmosphere if all games. I love new vegas to death but the OG just hits different.
We do not talk about Bethesda and their fan games.
Fallout fans try not to glaze New Vegas (Impossible)
Piplup better
Didn’t they retcon some stuff after Bethesda took over fallout??
UA-cam unsubed me from you :c
That is wild, but glad to see you resubbed
@@larsburrito always happy to your awesome keep it up
Dang . i didn•t even have Internet when i was playing Fallout 1 . That was like... 21y ago .
#TechnologyGap #DustBowl #PostApocalypse
ah, but you forget, the internet requirement to play the game would've been moot if you the cd copy of the game
You can beat Fallout without the internet
You dont have a disc copy from the 2000s?
Now do fallout 2 without using your mouse
i couldnt do this
Manual. Read the manual.
Yes I’m old
noice
No
Imagine playing an old RPG with the internet, lmao. I beat 1 at school off a hard drive when I was 14 in my spare time in computer class. Get gud.
the worst part of this game to do without internet is mariposa- trying to figure out what to do is very tedious and annoying
Considering you had to post this video, and use a computer to play it, No.
I gave up at shady sands the first time I played this absolute nightmare of a game. Fallout 3 gave me way too high of an expectation.
Kudos to you for giving it a go, you're a braver person than I ever was.
Wait you played Fallout 3 first and thought this was worse? What? I started with Fallout 3 and really liked it. Then I played new Vegas and after that 1 and 2. Now I cannot touch anything with Todd's name on it. What a load of horse crap they made in comparison
@@requiemagent3014 c-rpgs just aren't my thing
Also NV is in my top 10 games I've played so far
@@requiemagent3014 1 and 2 are still flawed games. Aside from them being unplayable without user patches (because of a shitton of bugs and exploits), the first one has a pretty barebones companion system (even compared to 2) and the shops don't even restock. Using Et Tu does fix a lot of the issues but still.
2 has a lot of tone issues too, and it forces you to go melee for the first 1/4 of the game.
@@arshiaaghaeiFo1 is literally the least buggy Fallout game lol
@@Jrdotan Gambling exploit? Ian having a crush on burst attacks regardless of what's in front of him? Crashes on mid-combat saves? Need I go on?
