Great Video. I must admit I was finding it rather frustrating. Then watched your great video and Bingo I had my first 4 Matter Smart Bulbs installed and working on Home Assistant. Thanks again. 👍

@@SmartHomeCircle in case a light is set to turn on at 6pm everyday and the light entity is unavailable due to power outage the automation silently fail without notifications, so to make automation fail notifications in home assistant

I will assume since you did not mention Thread, that this video detailed a matter over wifi plug
    device ?

Very good video. Thank you for sharing. I will use what I have learned to try and connect a new Aqara U200 lock.

Thanks for the video tutorial. I am running HA via virtual box on windows 11. Do you need the matter device to be connected to thread border router like Echo first? As when I try to add matter device is gives thread border router needed. If I try connecting after connecting it first to echo, if fails too, not sure what I should do differently , any suggestions?

So connection with Echo or Home Assistant are two different paths.
You can connect it via Echo ( your echo should be updated with latest firmware) or you can connect it via Home assistant app which uses the matter server ( the add-on I installed in the video ) to detect devices.
If you are still getting errors check the last chapter of the video to make sure that you have Ipv6 enabled.

Is it important to build a matter mesh network just like zigbee ?

I did some research around this.
Matter 1.0 is supported over Wifi, Ethernet and Thread.
Thread uses a Mesh network and hence a Matter device over Thread can relay signal to other devices, while in the case of using Matter over Wifi, a mesh network is not possible as Wifi does not support mesh networks.
In my video here, I used the matter device over my Wifi network and connected it to Home Assistant.
I hope I answered your question.

I can't find Matter Server in my add-on store, am I doing something wrong?

Weird. The addon is provided officially.
Even after clicking the button on the bottom to search the addons?
