- Who would have thought we would ever see speed boats on the canal! We continue our narrowboat journey on the Shropshire Union Canal from Nantwich onto the Middlewich Branch to Aqueduct Marina.
Hello! If you are new here we are Caroline and Pete! In 2021, after 10 years living in Texas, we sold up and moved back home to the UK to live full time aboard a 60ft narrowboat with our West Highland Terriers! Join us in our day to day life as we continuously cruise the canals and rivers of the UK. All of the ups, and the downs and everything in between!
If you would like to support our channel you can buy us a coffee or the westies some treats here www.buymeacoff... (we are saving up for new audio equipment!)

Nice to see you back - Life can be hard, but it goes on regardless! We must be brave.
So true! Thanks for staying with us 😊
So sorry for your loss, Caroline. Good to have you both back and the pups, too. 🤗💕🐾
Thanks so much. It feels good to be back 😊
I am so sorry for your loss. Praying for you guys. Glad to see you back on the boat. Happy travels.
Thank you so much. It’s good be back 😊
Sincere sympathy on the loss of your father, Caroline, with condolences to your mother and family. Such a big loss, but hope that the canal life will soothe and restore you.
Thank you for this lovely vlog! We were on this bit of the Shroppie and Middlewich last year. So many happy memories.
Thank you so much. We are glad to be back aboard and back to some sort of new normal. It’s been good being back to editing and remembering such beautiful scenery 😊
Caroline, so sad to hear of your father’s passing. May his memory be a blessing to you and your family. It’s so nice to see you back aboard. I look forward to your next video.
Thank you so much Linda. It’s been a sad few months but we are glad to be back cruising again, and staying close to my mum to get back regularly 😊
I watch these to relax, so beautiful to watch, stunning scenery.
Glad you enjoy the videos. That’s exactly the mood I try to create 😊
Sorry to hear about your Dad, Caroline. Treasure the memories. I loved the way one of your Westies ‘talked’ to the Westie on the canal bank. My Mum had a couple of Westies when I was growing up, they were real characters. I’m a Labrador fan, we have three.
Thank you so much. Jasper was having a good chat with that other westie! You’re right, they are such characters! I grew up with our lab Bonnie. She was such a lovely girl 😊
After that 90° turn, you put the camera on pete, he looked so proud, and so he should!!.
He really was proud and was quite sad that it was too early for anyone to be sitting outside the pub watching! 😂😊
So nice to see you back. Bless you all! I follow along with Paul and Anthony too so I've been up to date with your travels. Was sad to see you all go your separate ways, it was nice to see you all cruising together but know you'll be together soon as you said in that last video with them. Weather looked nice, it's COLD in Chicago. Safe travels until the next one.
Thank you so much!! We had such a wonderful time travelling with them, and they were a huge support during these sad times with our family. We know that cruising together will be somewhere in our future again! Stay warm 😊
❤ So happy to see you back on the canals. Caroline, I'm so sorry for the loss of your father.
Thank you so much Dorothy. It's be a sad few months but it's good to be back on the boat again 😊
Love watching your videos
That’s so lovely to hear Roberta! Thank you 😊
Decided to go backwards loving this. Gosh England is beautiful. I’m hooked. ❤
We are glad to have you along with us on our travels 😊
May God provide eternal rest to your dad
Another great video, I just love the wine and bbq outside by the canal. 👏👏👏
Thank you so much Paul. It was a lovely spot for lunch 😊
Awww so sorry for your loss.....xxxxxxx
Glad to have you back have missed you xxzz
Thank you so much, it's good to be back cruising again 😊
My condolences on your sad news. Good to see you back cruising again.
Thank you so much, it feels good to be back 😊
So sorry to hear the sad loss of your dad Caroline, pray peace for all your family and especially your mum. Safe and happy boating for the future xx
Thank you so much. Being back on the boat is good for our souls for sure😊
Bramble Cuttings is situated a few miles north of Middlewich big lock on the Trent and and Merseyside canal. Your overnight stop on the Middlewich branch of the Shropshire Union canal is called Sykes Hollow. Stopped there many times.
Quite a few people have corrected us. Whoops! One day we will get to the real Bramble Cuttings! Thanks for watching 😊
Glad to see your back sorry about your news I lost my dad a year ago , please keep blogging
So sorry to hear that Lorraine, it's so hard isn't it. We still have so much footage to catch up on, so the vlogs will be coming for a long time into the foreseeable future! We love having this diary of our travels, and especially love that so many people enjoy them too 😊
Hi! Pete & Caroline That's understandable, Family Matters come first, nice to see you back 🙏🙏❤❤
Thank you, it's good to be back and getting back to normal a little 😊
Welcome Back. Sorry to hear about your lose❤ We have missed you all, the watch and chilled music. X🐰x
Thank you so much, it's good to be back cruising and finding relaxing music for the videos again. I think it's my most favourite part of the editing process, as it can change the mood so much 😊
I’m sorry to hear about your Dad, Caroline. I hope your Mum is doing ok and managing to cope as best as is possible. I lost my Husband suddenly last June so life has thrown me a curve ball.
I’ve just spent 6 days coming down from Furness Vale Marina on the Peak Forest Canal to Overwater Marina near Nantwich, on the Shroppie. I can’t steer so my Son-in-Law did all of that while I did the locks. My life is now in the Marina with my JRT Mollie. Our plan had been to spend Winter on the Llangollen this year. Thankfully, we did get to do it on a hire boat about 4 years ago.
So sorry to hear that Wendy, what a sad time for you. You never know what is around the next corner do you. I'm glad you are still on the boat with your Mollie. I've heard Overwater is a lovely friendly marina 😊
@@onedaymoreaboard it is.
Good to see you back everyone needs a break UK No stress
It’s good to be back for sure 😊
So sorry to hear about your dad ❤❤. It is nice to see you back, enjoyed traveling with you 😊
Thank you so much, we are glad you could join us 😊
Condolence Caroline on your loss. It is nice to see you both back on your chanel, have followed your guys on Paul and Anthony's chanel, and was great to see all four, sorry 7 of you having a great time together.
Thank you so much Bruce. It's good to be back to cruising and editing. We had such a lovely time with the boys, and it feels strange not to be with them! They were such a wonderful support through some sad times, and we know one day we will be cruising together again! 😊
Welcome back. Missed you but of course family comes first.
So sorry for your loss.
Thank you so much 😊
Praying for peace and comfort for all of your family. Hugs to your mum
Thank you so much John. We really appreciate your kind words 😊
So sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. Hugs😢
Thank you ❤️
So sorry to hear about your dad Caroline. Sending you my condolences. Take care. Nick
Thanks so much Nick 😊
Sorry for your loss
Thank you so much ❤️
I am so sorry for your loss! Too much loss too close together.
Thank you so much. He had a lovely long life ❤️
So good to see you back Caroline. Sending you and your family lots of love during this really sad time ❤ Please look after yourself. The editing can wait! We will all still be here 🥰
Thank you so much Lesley, and thank you for your patience. We are glad to be back cruising 😊
Lovely
Thank you so much Sharon 😊
It is nice to hear from you, although you correctly note that it's your choice to make these vlogs. It's just so lovely to travel with you when you do. It was especially nice to see Jasper in this one. Do you think that at the point where there was barking with the Westie on the tow path, that they recognized their kindred nature? Take care and be well. Leigh
Thank you so much Leigh! We love that our vlogs bring enjoyment to so many people around the world. These are the last few weeks of footage that we have with Jasper, and it's going to be hard making that last one with him in. We often wonder if they recognise other westies more than other breeds! That one on the towpath looked like Jasper's double too!😊
Nice to see you both. Coping with a loss is ongoing. I follow Anthony and Paul also so was aware you were dealing with some family matters. May your father’s memory be a blessing. Thank- you for another lovely Vlog.
Thank you so much. We were so thankful to be travelling with the boys during these last few sad months. They were a huge support to us 😊
Sorry to hear about your dad x
Lovely to see 'back in time' around here again, many of the boats seen have either been put up for sale or moved on. And i dont need to say Sykes Hollow of course 😂
Yep Sykes Hollow whoops! I was wondering when I was editing how much change you would notice! This was our first time through your lock before we knew of your personal lockie service 😂
Lovely blog, good to see you back again! This bought back memories from last year, we were around there then and just about to embark onto the Llangollen. Looking forward to seeing your next videos! Hopefully see you both soon too xx
Thank you lovelies! It’s good to be back! As we approach this winter I’m finally editing last winter! Better late than never 😂
😂😂 we look forward to reliving it with you ❤xx
Was very excited just to even see the cute short you put out last night. So glad you are back, if you are ready to be back. Sending prayers and hugs your way!
Thank you so much Sheryl. Being back on the boat helps us get back to some sort of normal again 😊
Caroline, so sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is a profound change to the life we are used too but you were there for him. Hope your mum is okay and your beautiful boat can get your mind going and the lock exercises outside are good for your mental health. Take care.❤
Thanks so much for your kind words. It was a very sad loss of a lovely man, but we take comfort in the fact that he had a wonderful long life full of adventure, and dementia didn’t have a chance to get much more of a grip on him 😊
Poppy does exactly the same as Angus with her food! He drops bits out of his bowl for no reason 🤣 That mooring is Sykes Hollow, Bramble Cutting is just outside Middlewich on the T and M. Doesn’t seem like a year ago does it? Xx
Anthony just told us it was Sykes Hollow too. Whoops!! That's what you get for trying to hurry and get a video finished! Poppy is such a pain with her food, leaving bits all over the place! Picky child 😂
Sorry for your loose , lovely vlogs thanksb
Thanks so much 😊
Nice vlog as always.
Glad you enjoyed it Shirley. It's always lovely to read comments from our regular viewers 😊
Soo glad to see you back with us. Sorry for the sad time you have had and hope you will be happy back on the cut again xx
Many prayers your way ❤❤. I’m still new to your vlog…I know Poppy and Hamish, who is the 3rd cutie? Beautiful cruise and you know just the right music to accompany your journey! Love sloe gins! Have a great time ❤.
Welcome aboard!! We are glad you found us, and it's lovely to hear that you enjoy the music. It's one of my favourite parts of the editing process as the music can change the mood so much! The other westie is our old boy Jasper, who sadly died from aggressive mouth cancer. At 15 he had lived a wonderful long life. These are the last few weeks of footage we have of him as part of our crew. He loved to sit up the back watching the world go by as we cruised. ❤️
Hugs 'n' kisses to you both, as the previous subscriber said I hope your Fathers memory is a blessing. ❤❤
Thanks so much Gwen. I'm glad he got to spend some time on the boat with us, and awe could take him along on our travels with our vlogs too. 😊
Our favourite stretch of the shroppie at Nantwich we love the town while we have been based at overwater, sorry to hear of your father’s passing it’s not nice losing parents 😢❤❤take care please 😊
Lovely to see you both, loved watching you with Paul and anthony. So sorry for your loss, and thinking of all your family, best wishes, jacquie, mark and woof from Thelma xxx
Thank you so much Jacquie and Mark, and of course Thelma! It was a wonderful support traveling with the boys during these sad times. You must be getting excited about your own boat. Has the build started yet? 😊
@@onedaymoreaboard sadly the house fell through day before exchange so up for sale again at a reduced price. We may go for a second hand boat now but still a good one as the cost of new boats are going up and cost of houses dropping drastically. Never mind it is what it is my lovely xxx
Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🌻🍏🌾🍐🎃🍂Thank you both, miss you both, great vlog today🙏✝️🙏🇨🇦
Happy holidays to you and your family! We can't believe how fast this year has gone. Time to find a tiny turkey to fit in our tiny oven! We are thankful for your support of our little channel 😊
Aww we miss you guys. Glad you are back on the boat. ❤
It feels good to back, but not the same without you guys! 😊❤️
@@onedaymoreaboard ❤️
Sloes that have had a frost on them make better gin than those that have not.
I am sure that you will enjoy it though.
We will bear that in mind! We were pleased to see these in an accessible place to pick as we often pass them but they are too high and the lower branches have already been stripped! Thanks for watching 😊
So sorry for your loss 💔 A daunting time. Take care and enjoy your cruising 💖
Thank you so much Jan. It's be such a sad time, but we are glad to be back on the boat and getting somewhat back to normal again 😊
I would like to offer my condolences..I do follow Paul and Anthony and understand your circumstances. I too have lost my father and my mother..unbelievably heartbreaking..My husband and I were live-aboards for six glorious years in the waters of British Columbia.. unfortunately I lost my sweetheart 6 years ago..enjoy your lives and cherish the memories..
So sorry for your losses. Life is hard isn’t it, accepting the loss of our loved ones. We are lucky to have been traveling with Paul and Anthony during these sad few months, and their support and help has meant the world to us. Thanks for watching and thinking of us ❤️
Sorry abpit your dad
I wondering why there were no new episodes
Welcome back
Thank you so much Elaine 😊
❤ Good to see you both back Sorry to hear about your father. David and Ruth
Thank you so much. It feels good to be back on board again. Hope you are all keeping well 😊
Glad to see you are back. Sorry about your lost. I was pretty worried about not seeing any new videos. Was wondering what happen. Always thank you for all your lovely video's. God bless and prayers for you. Take care 'Spin' your Midwestern 'tuber friend'. Pet the puppies for me. (my cat Mini Moo is laying next to my computer and sleeping)
Thank you so much Tom, it feels good to be back. Hamish's favourite place to be is at our feet under the desk when we are working 😊
Hi guys, just come across your video absolutely love it. Keep up the good work. My condolences about your father I know it’s a couple of months ago. Paul and Anthony. Absolutely wonderful guys. I’ve been following them for the last eight months or so really enjoy their videos they’re so funny Very dry humour anyway use have a wonderful time and Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you all Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺🧑🏾🦽
Welcome aboard! We are glad you found us. We had such a wonderful time traveling with Paul and Anthony. They really are exactly the kind, warm and funny guys you see in their videos. Our own videos are very behind, because of me taking a break from editing during my dad’s illness, so we can relive our travels with them all over again in our upcoming videos! Thanks for watching 😊
The Nantwich Aquaduct crosses the A5 Watling Street.
Thanks 😊
having lost both my parents I have an idea what you are going through praying for your prsvr
Thank you so much, it’s so hard isn’t it ❤️
well done on that right hand turn, onto the middlewich branch, my hubby;s home twon area, slowes gin... what are those they look like blue berries.... never heard of Slowes Gin or berries, hey I'm abit confused how you have 3 dogs I know jasper passed away, how do you show him still in video's?, is he photo shopped or old footage?. hope this is ok to ask. just wondered.... love your doggies thou so cute....so glad that you are back making Vvlogs have missed you but have enjoyed watching you with Paul and Anthony, whom I''ve been following for a few years now.
Hi Lynn, Pete did a good job with that turn didn’t he! One day I may have the confidence to attempt those manoeuvres! Sloes are similar to blueberries but more tart. They are not really eaten raw as they are too sour but used to make jams and slow gin, which is more of a liqueur I guess. Very warming in the winter! This is old footage when we still had Jasper, and actually the last few weeks of cruising before we made the hard decision to say goodbye. We have always been about 6 months behind with our videos as we didn’t really make the decision to start vlogging for UA-cam until we had been living aboard for about 6 months. Prior to that I had just been videoing and taking photos for our own use, but it’s lovely that so many people from all over the world enjoy watching our travels. With my Dad being sick these last few months, and then passing, we have taken a bit of a break from putting out the videos as the editing takes quite some time. Thank you for watching and thank you for sticking with us 😊
Hi, are you able to see over those flowers?, I must admit I find it a bit frustrating
They did grow higher than we had thought to be honest, but we did get used to them. However we vowed to plan better in future and choose shorter plants! Thanks for watching 😊
Xx
Thank you 😊
Question: Have you seen anyone install a steering wheel rather than the tiller?
We’ve seen steering wheels on a wide beam and on Dutch barges, but never on a narrowboat yet. But I’m guessing it is possible and there maybe someone on the network with one. Perhaps someone will comment! Thanks for watching 😊
Jasper 😞 RIP in the Dog Heaven......
Thank you ❤️
Need some sort of wind block on the mic
We’ve just bought some lavalier lapel mics with windshields, which should improve the audio. Thanks for watching 😊
nice vlog such a shame that all the narrowboat channels are doing the same routes like last winter all on the llangollen got very sameie to be honest i even stop patreon on a few channels makes me look at unsubscribing to be honest sorry for your loss good luck may watch again when decent content is worth youtube premier price
Thank you for watching, and glad you enjoyed it. I think with all of the closures due to low water levels, and lock problems it forced everyone onto the same canals unfortunately, as it's a limited network. We still enjoy watching vlogs of the same stretches though as everyone's take on it and style of vlog is different. We notice things in their vlogs that we didn't even see when we were cruising it ourselves! We have kept our channel totally free, and have chosen not to have Patreon or UA-cam channel membership, so we hope you will still enjoy watching 😊
Even the society of narrow boat owners are being forced to accept losing their freedoms to a new kind of generation that wants their stuff. It will get worse forcing them to sell their boats and live in the hot Desert sands of the sahara ! 😂
Thanks for watching 😊
