Big van for long holibobs small van for day/weekend trips. I'm lucky like you I have both and as you say the bed issue is super important especially after a long day driving to Spain for example when you just want to flop down and crash out. Good work as always Shaun, later. 🤟
Big big bigger! Our mwb iveco still isn't big enough. Our next build will be a Luton.
Once parked up I prefer the bigger van but height restrictions barriers would be an issue with many car parks as you could be driving around for a while trying to find a place to park A low roof van will also in itself be more fuel efficient and stealthier.
The more space the better shaun. It’s a lot handier all round and like you said the bed is always made 😊
big is best but a none family person in small van wins. overall its about location and what van you can use for free or get parked daily
I think i would rather go for the big van as well Shaun, much more space for bad weather camping. Great video.
We had a small t23 we used for holidays and that was ideal. When moves full time into a van we chose a LWB Crafter, for full time it's ideal 👍
for height that's why I've got a Mazda bongo

Volvo estate. Ripped the lot out.apart from driving seat. May not have standing room but bugger loads of room for my first campy wagon.
Not sure about adding a pop top.. I think that will pretty much restrict you getting under the 2m barriers?
still prefere the small van might not be able to stand up Shawn but so much cosyer and easier for everything else

Anyway personally I'd have a bigger van..if you're single person maybe a smaller one would be fine but we had a vw t5 and two of us and dogs there was no room..no have a ford custom high top with fixed bed and what a difference....
I've had my T5 just under a year , and got all the bells and whistles on it now, but I keep looking at crafters or ducatos, but the Mrs loves T5 and will never part with it... so small van for me lol
U can pee standing up in a big camper van. But and I mean but.....I'm 47 and I feel I need to pee sitting down more. Life is getting shit lol

Forgot to mention a very important detail......do we actually have room to park a bigger van at our homes, id love a bigger van but my allocated parking bay only fits a small one. So my vivaro works for now
Big for me but the layout makes a big difference.
Rented a LWB VW Crafter earlier this year. It was massive but poorly laid out so less room than your Transit.
Have you checked out Nienke Borgman's van build? Super cool although it doesn't have the permanent bed

You need an electric blanket in the big van. That way, you will not have to have a heater running all night.
Id go with MWB best of both imo. Horrible driving a LWB round narrow country lanes and tight bends
If you have the cash get a bigger van if you are full time. If you are weekend person small will work fine.
Big because of the storage garage, air-conditioning, and shower.

Nice video thanks! Do you notice a difference in driving like with noise/vibration etc? I have a big van (Renault Master) and my dog really hates driving in it. I’m wondering if she would prefer a smaller van if it was quieter etc? But I’ve only ever driven this one!
