incont They are certainly competing for customers. They are both businesses. But in the end I talk about how this is not a race between a tortoise and a hare after all. Hopefully the vision of both benefits all of humanity.
@@Newsthink I know, my comment was not just aimed at you, but all that set it up to indicate that they are competing. Except from the clickbait title and thumbnail, good video though :)
James Tan his net worth is $161.1 billion. the guy has more money than literally anyone else. $1,000,000,000.00 isn’t exactly a monumental amount for the guy...
@@sirachman exactly, he just adds money elon work at it, puts his all and everything (literally everything when falcon 1 launched for the forth time) and yuou clearly see that it is his passion, regardless, he is a brilliant engineer, and not chieff engineers for nothing, he actually solved and continosuly solves aerospace problems the main difference in filosfy and aproach of BO and SpaceX is that BO is like any other company (ULA, BOEING, L. Martin) and it is like the post Apolo NASA, slow and burreocratic, and spacex is like old nasa, innovative, fast paced, fast iteration and learning from failure BO (and pretty much all aerospace indutry) is dead scared of failure, to the point that they prefer to have succes in testing operations, and spacex seeks that failure during testing (jut literally even starship has been tested to failure purposefully)
Blue origin = We will leave the Earth's atmosphere in the next decade... (possible) SpaceX = We will have a Martian colony in the next decade... (Pipe dream) Sorry to disappoint but Humans can't survive Mars' gravity for prolonged periods of time.
@@randomhumanoid7721 And you've lived a lifetime in Martian gravity? Humans definitely can survive under low gravity conditions. They'd require lots of exercise, but it's definitely gonna happen
YaskyJr No, I also haven’t been in a fire, yet I know it burns. We can survive for a year in microgravity and it has severe consequences for the astronaut’s health. Call me crazy but I’m all for companies that engage in science using the scientific method, which would require to test the effects of 0.3g on the human body before sending humans to Mars.
@@randomhumanoid7721 I have to sorta agree. I feel we need a way to solve the gravity problem before we try and set up colonies. We might reach mars in the next 50 years, but we will have to do lots of tests.
Surgical Check out The Gateway Foundation AKA Orbital Assembly, I’m not sure they’re the ones to do it, but they have the right idea. They have a UA-cam channel. They plan to make a small Stanford torus (between Earth and Mars) to produce Mars-like gravity. They are waiting for Starship to be ready, cause without it it wouldn’t be a viable plan.
He definitely didn’t :P. SpaceX is FAR ahead, as I mentioned in the video many times. However, it’s good to have competition. It benefits civilization as a whole.
Saying the _New Shepard_ rocket "went to space" just because it barely crossed the Kármán line is like saying you've been to a state that you actually just had a short layover flight at.
62 miles = 62 miles or 100km. Been above? you get astronaut wings. Even if just for a second. It shows you had the balls to climb into one of those beasts and rode it up. I know you'e talking about a ship, not a person, but still :)
@@Seabee203 it is, the first person to do it will get all the recognition. Look at Jackie Robinson, we remember him as the first person to break the color barrier in baseball however do you know or remember the second person to break the color barrier in baseball? No no you dont
The space race is long gone, private companies are trying to colonize space, and Musk plans to colonize Mars is maybe a "fool's errand" the Terraforming approach even more. I really hope both will succeed but Bezos plan is by far the better approach with less risk and less resource-intensive.
What Blue Origin has in mind as their end goal is far more difficult and will take up much more time than SpaceX’s. Getting to Mars and establishing a colony is so much easier than making a planet on your own.
Horizey eh, going to mars is also REALLY difficult not even mentioning colonizing it, but i believe what bezos wants to do could be sorta possible at a much smaller scale, especially the lunar industry part. People really underestimate mars in my opinion, but blue origins ambitions are also near impossible so theres that i guess. I honestly think we need a mix if the two and not just one of them as they are intertwined a lot
@@bhavukfula mars colony is easier to do compared to that thing that bezos promised. Bezos is just talks while spacex is literally doing big progress in boca chica for starship
They don't even compare and Spacex has won. When Blue Glenn is launched and BO starts to actually do something then i will believe. I want them both to do well, but for the last 3-5 years BO have done very little of anything.
SpaceX would disagree with you, they're goal is to make life multiplanetary or atleast speed up that process. So they might've half won already by revolutionising the industry.
"My Apple spaceship has landed on Earth," said Steve Jobs. "My Blue Origin spaceship will land on the moon," says Jeff Bezos. "My SpaceX starship will land on Mars," says Elon Musk.
if this was a race Elon has overlapped Bezos several times. if they continue at this rate Elon will have sent a starship to mars before Bezos even gets his first rocket into space.
Bezos knows future...he let elon to make Elon colony on mars sooner or later colonial want daily needs and he supply them as Amazon Space Productes ....isnt he is true businessman ?
@@cyborghobo9717 i assume you think that because the test being performed on the prototypes end in a explosion then that means the star-ship will never be capable of getting to mars or space for that matter. all ill say is that people said the same thing about the falcon 9 and now its the most cost effective rocket in the world and NASA go to rockets to send astronauts to the international space station. oh yea and its reusable. when elon musk sets his mind on something he usually achieves, it just takes a bit more time than he originally predicts

SpaceX is what inspires us and creates Hope and Excitement for the future whereas Blue Origin appears slow and inefficient. Though its Progress may increase exponentially in the future. If they wont catch up to spacex in the next years they will always be standing in its shadow and that is what I believe is most likely to happen.
@@williamstock3007 Blowing stuff up. Breaking things during testing is a faster, and more efficient way to progress. Doing everything through computer simulation is what led to Boeing launching their unmanned crew-capsule Starliner a few months back. Its mission clock was wrongly set up (despite bleats about all the simulations they did); they nearly lost the vehicle on re-entry because the programming for the separation of the capsule and the service-module had the rockets firing in the wrong sequence. If they hadn't spotted that flaw while checking on the clock one, the capsule and the service-module would likely have separated, then collided just before re-entry. Collisions are always bad. But somehow years of computer-simulations never found those and likely other flaws. We don't even have a date for a future unmanned re-test. That is what you get when you are not breaking stuff every day.Bezos has yet to discover this. He has a sparkling construction complex with videos of sage technicians and engineers nodding wisely for the cameras, pretending that this is how it is done properly. But when they have a sugar-daddy, no urgency and no deadlines, it is a make-work environment, little different from the Alabama situation with SLS having provided make-work for Boeing engineers. And see what has happened there. Deliberately using old-tried-tested-tech, they have still taken 10 years to now, with a first flight being postponed since 2016-17, and this boondoggle will only loft 70 tons to orbit, far less than the Saturn 5's 120. So Bezos is old-space, admittedly done on his own money. Don't hold your breath, though, waiting for results.
" If they wont catch up to spacex in the next years" catch up to what? spacex ultimate goal to live in extreme environments is far more extremely harder to do than blue origins artificial living, upgradable, space quarters. the spacex does not make sense in the big picture. living in mars will be fantasy in 2100, while living permanently in a giant artificial space place is totally feasible, all around better logistically and other ways.
The richest man in the world who pretty much has access to everything VS Some South African dude who shipped his car to Mars out of boredom while laughing at a dead deer. I don't know about you but my money is on Elon.
@@irohsang7601 I mean there are traces of water in mars and to add water is not impressive if it has no organisms in it another ting to add is if there’s any oxygen in the water
Both objectives of both promoters make sense. I cheer for both; and not only so--- but for multiple space-tech nations as well. There is room for many space visions.
The public will and already has set into place biases and discrimination against anyone other than Elon musk and those through meritocracy are Only allows to go to mars and space for mars on Mars about mars and space etc.
BO reminds me of bureaucratic stagnation and job security. SpaceX feels like a principled and dedicated oblique charge on the industry. Taking them by surprise like a proper Macedonian army. Great vid!
You mean SpaceX tactics are disrupting to the industry. And not just SpaceX, look at Tesla. That disruption was gargantuan and had most car manufacturers scrambling to get an EV on the market. Then there's solar city, not as disruptive, but progressive nonetheless, since they stepped into the market default panel efficiency has been upped from 17% to 22% because they started selling 22% panels at 17% panel prices. Not to mention their solar roof tiles which are impressive to say the least. And then there's the lithium battery market...need I go on? Elon Musk is a genius on so many levels, it's incredible. He actually learned rocket science from scratch in 2003 by just grabbing books about rocket engineering and reading them. Sorry for my idolising rant.
It's not exactly the turtoise and hare anymore. I'm not sure how testing works at Blue Origin but at SpaceX they don't have a good test until something blows up. The main difference was that Blue Origin was building a new rocket from a clean sheet and SpaceX has been modifying a old design but with the BFR they are starting from scratch
well yeah, but actually no you know, the Hubble, is like, pretty big, like, pretty fuken big, and is till this day one of the biggest achievements in modern civilization same goes for the Large Hadron Collider, but arguably even more impressive that it, is the CMS detector, which is (struggling to find words suitable for describing it)... an absolute masterpiece of engineering and cutting-edge technology, top physics and material science, just.... amazing don't mention space related stuff, cause that got pretty much financed by war neither the Hubble or LHC were financed by war, or religion, or mankind survival, but by the upmost desire of knowledge but I agree with you, humans do the relevant stuff usually motivated by survivability, dominance (wars) or religious beliefs
Sorry Tiffany, there's no chance of that, because they simply won't ever be built. We're far far more likely to be seeing bases on Mars, minor planets, and the moons of Jupiter and Saturn, all which are equally as exciting.
If you are same age or younger than Elon Musk, you probably will see a colony on Mars, because Elon wants to die there, preferably of old age, not on impact.
There's a saying which I will always believe: "Those who fail to adapt or fail to accept changes are doomed to die and to those who do, they are the ones that will write history " Jeff Bezos is afraid of change while Elon isn't. I'm putting my bet on Elon for the fate of humanity.
@Steve Perreira, thats what media and school tells you, but it is not necessary like that. Competition spurs business success, but not innovation. They just hired specialist to produce stuff and dominate market, not to provide us with innovations, nothing what they do is actually an innovation. Innovation happens when either government agency or special private corporation has a specific goal to accomplish without paying attention to others. In addition, Jeff and Elon don’t even compete with each other.
Don't wan't to break your brain but you can in fact, contrary to popular belief, compare things that are not completely analogous; actually, you can even compare stuff that is not even remotely similar if your neurons allow for such complex reasoning. In this case, wow, did a UA-cam channel really compare 2 of the most, if not two of the only prominent private space companies, making it their second most watched and upvoted video overall!?!? Must necessarily be caused by the guy-who-could-easily-buy-the-entire-company-a-few-times-over's tiny dick energy.
It is the times we live in, everyone gets a medal!! Pretty much this video is patronizing except for one thing, most people who watched it to see right through it. I wonder how many hours the narrator spent in front of a mirror practicing her earnestness, ha ha!
I think the name is appropriate. Armstrong returned from the Moon and then disappeared from public view instead of campaigning to put a colony on the Moon. He should have led the fight -- but didn't. Blue Origin will NEVER create a fully reusable rocket -- probably not even the phantom "New Glenn" rocket. I wish I could place a large bet in Las Vegas on these facts.
@@rodanderson8490 well at some degree you right, if i had happened to be the first man on the moon i would've use all my resources to start a new era in space flight, unfortunately both the US and USSR lost interest in spaceflight after the Moon landings, hope Elon would take us to the next level.
I thought this was a mainstream media clip based on the quality/editing and was waiting for all the misunderstood inaccuracies they always muck up, but this was great. Really well done! Best of luck on the new channel.
It's actually something good that competition exists. It's what pushes humanity to development and innovation. In fact before the foundation of SpaceX, we didn't even heard about all of these crazy and amazing goals (planet colonization, to be able to go to space). I mean NASA was saying Mars Colonization won't be possible before 2100, but after they saw the ambitious projects of SpaceX, NASA announced plans to go to Mars way earlier 2100. If you are the only one, you will take your time to do your stuff, but if you have a competitor, you'll want to be the first. Blue Origins keeps contributes as well. That's what pushes innovation. All of them are great companies making history!!! Hats off
wait how does this channel have so little subs and views? it has the same quality as curious droid or apeture or verge in terms of editing and educating
@@hempmaster thats not really it, contracts dont determine weather or not a space company can send rockets to space, its the companys themselves, both companies have currently alot of financial backing and it doesnt show any signs of stopping. so really who "wins" (by most people definition of winning) is the one that does the most for humanity first
SpaceX is both fast and steady. :) And they've already sent people to space, while Blue Origin didn't even reach orbit. Slow and "ferociously" steady? Ok, but the thing is Blue Origin lags way behind, while even the slow and overbudgeted NASA is closer to set people in space. So Blue Origin is cool, if you put it in the context of the 70's. Other than that, they're insanely far from having orbiting colonies or settlements on any heavenly body. They really need to step up, or they will become irrelevant. The Chinese are reasonably close to rocket reusability, the Russians have also started working on reusable rockets, the ESA also works on reusability, and all of them have a long standing experience of going into space. I have no idea what to think about Blue Origin, other than... what exactly are they doing? Everyone moves faster than them, and they get results.
Yes. XD. We get it 70's sci-fi idea of satellite settlements. Except, the one presenting is a common man who got rich and the other against it is sort of a scientist. For real he is putting money into the idea of sustaining an ecology with just controlled food cycle & without any natural resources, if the outcome is bad he is simply wasting a lot of brilliant minds on the wrong thing. Not that we hate Bezos for liking space and stuff but his company should be doing what is actually achievable and benefiting humans like traveling our solar system and paying taxes.
@@aakashsahani2991 Space is literally home to unlimited resources. I am not too confident in Bezos but if he knew how to tap the space economy well then he is in for a gold mine.
I changed it to 'A Comparison' so people wouldn't get the wrong idea of what this piece is about. It looks at the similarities but also the big differences between the two companies.
these comments about Bezos motives are pointless - he's not in it for profit, he's already got more money than he knows what to do with. Its more likely a childhood dream that he can indulge in, combined with a hope that history will remember him as a space pioneer rather than a discount store manager.
@@anusolly You are the most sane person in the comment section. People are just circle jerking elon musk and hating jeff bezos for no reason. There's even a top comment accusing the creator for being a sellout for jeff bezos just because the information in the video is unbiased.
SpaceX's year: Starlink launch, Demo2 successfully brings astronauts to ISS and later splashes them down to Earth, Starship prototype 5 hops, Starship prototypes set to hop in the near future, Starlink beta testing begins. Blue Origin's year: *yes*
If Mars is also subjected to meteor attacks .. as far as sustainability of earth is questioned upon .. do we have any backup plan ahead of Mars ? If some calamity arises in mars then ?
fast comparison one has launched ORBITAL spacecraft, successfully landed it, and successfully re uses it to launch more earth-orbit mission the other hasn't I mean, I could go on for long, but ey, easy example there for ya
This is poorly stated, financially. For some reason, the narrative of the financial portion was "SpaceX is low on money while Blue Origin has unlimited capital." Blue origin is almost solely reliant on Bezos' money. SpaceX not only has contract agreements, they have Elon's money too. He can put up the same capital as Bezos, and has. I would imagine SpaceX has far more cash on hand than Blue Origin. This video should have focused on progress. In a few months, with Starship, SpaceX has pretty much achieved an equivalent of what Blue Origin has in 20 years, physically.
You know that Jeff Bezos has like five times more money then Musk has right? And SpaceX currently has a lot of contracts, specifically with NASA, because it needs those to stay afloat. TBH the only reason SpaceX isn't bankrupt right now is because of NASA. Blue Origin doesn't have this issue and thus doesn't need to have launch contracts currently. This is also the reason why they are way less open about what they are working on and why you don't hear as much from them. SpaceX probably is ahead of Blue Origin, but not as much as people like to believe.

Slow and super efficient you mean. They are most definitely not inefficient. Don’t see them blowing rockets up. Ps I prefer space x

Blue origin's motto "Step-by-step ferociously" kind of seems like an oxymoron don't you think? I'm not a billionaire yet, so idk
Human has never achieved significant milestones without urgency or constraints. If I'm wrong please enlighten me with an example.
I agree that is the greatest phrase I heard for a long time
The only time we did crazy stuff without urgency was when we built crazy big stuff for religious reasons
well yeah, but actually no
you know, the Hubble, is like, pretty big, like, pretty fuken big, and is till this day one of the biggest achievements in modern civilization
same goes for the Large Hadron Collider, but arguably even more impressive that it, is the CMS detector, which is (struggling to find words suitable for describing it)... an absolute masterpiece of engineering and cutting-edge technology, top physics and material science, just.... amazing
don't mention space related stuff, cause that got pretty much financed by war
neither the Hubble or LHC were financed by war, or religion, or mankind survival, but by the upmost desire of knowledge
but I agree with you, humans do the relevant stuff usually motivated by survivability, dominance (wars) or religious beliefs
Landing on moon is the best example of urgency.
I like your statement, I can't agree more.
I hope I’m still alive to see these future space colonies one day.
They sure look incredible, don’t they? The one that looks like Prague is so neat.
Paul Freedman score, I’m younger. Lol

Can you people comparing both of them? They are both working to help humanity
There's a saying which I will always believe: "Those who fail to adapt or fail to accept changes are doomed to die and to those who do, they are the ones that will write history " Jeff Bezos is afraid of change while Elon isn't.
I'm putting my bet on Elon for the fate of humanity.
Hopefully they will both succeed and share data with each other.
Dan Evans they are
@Dan Evans, No, jeff is a sneaky ass. He will not share anything and will try to suppress his competitors in all means.
Dan Evans , Elon = Telsa , Jeff = Edison
Is this some kind of pipe dream? Competition is what Spurs innovation.
Thank you Cindy! Great Channel!
one is a pedigreed rocket company the other is a pet project that hasn't come close to orbit yet....
Bezos sponsors this video, if not i can not understand how you can compare the acomplishment of these two companies
WOW. Great video. I enjoy your format. Keep up the great work.

Slow and steady wins the race, but what's fast is always fast and a rematch is always gonna be the victory for the fast
3:45 Jeff is thinking about the rich that would pay to go into space.
Duuuuude 👊🏾
"New Armstrong"
Kinda ironic since Neil Armstrong himself testified against commercial spaceflight.
Slow and steady loses the race
Speed and fast wins the race

Slow and steady makes your work perfect.
Speed and fast makes your work mess.

Hats off
Jeff Who? - Elon Musk

Even if SpaceX is way ahead, Blue Origin should also be appreciated because of their achievements, because only a few people can do such things.
yeah, i call it useless. he should just invest in musk.
honestly what achievements compared to spacex?
There is enough space for both companies in... space.
Hey - that’s a better closing line than the one I came up with ;)
Theres only so much contacts, who gets the most contacts, and the one who is cheaper will probably be the winner
@@hempmaster thats not really it, contracts dont determine weather or not a space company can send rockets to space, its the companys themselves, both companies have currently alot of financial backing and it doesnt show any signs of stopping. so really who "wins" (by most people definition of winning) is the one that does the most for humanity first
@@penapvp2230 without contracts SpaceX wouldn't have even existed. Contracts are important to a vast majority of space launch companies.

It's like Stark Industries vs Wayne Enterprises (BO)
Clever :)
Bezos is more like Lexcorp
"Step by step, ferociously" only works if you, you know... take that next step..

I would never want them to collab. It's crazy (in a positive way) what competition between 2 men can do.
Who Will Win the Space Race? What is the goal post? Kind of a pointless headline.
At yet, you watched it...or did you bother?
I changed it to 'A Comparison' so people wouldn't get the wrong idea of what this piece is about. It looks at the similarities but also the big differences between the two companies.
Doug James Yes, I watched it.
Elon: for humanity
Jeff: for money
these comments about Bezos motives are pointless - he's not in it for profit, he's already got more money than he knows what to do with. This is poorly stated, financially. For some reason, the narrative of the financial portion was "SpaceX is low on money while Blue Origin has unlimited capital."
Blue origin is almost solely reliant on Bezos' money.
Who ever wins I just want to be one of the person who would be in space or on mars
