MrGoldo the potholes in my area are really deep and harsh and I mostly drive at night, due to the mostly empty roads I’m normally driving like a nob, when you hit a deep pothole going 70+mph the bang and insuing vibration is so bad it cracked my windscreen. A throttle-response device made a huge difference to my daily, underpowered 4 banger CVT crossover. It makes a boring car fun to drive for cheap.
Upgrading the speakers and head unit made a big difference with my commute experience.
I also did leatherette seat covers, a wood dash kit, all led front and rear lights, and puddle lights.
I'm planning on installing: catback exhaust, thicker rear sway bar and wheels.
And that'll be all the upgrades for my Project Daily

I modified my honda civic daily back in 92 to something overboard. But it was due to my long commutes to work. Things wore out and break, and I kept on swapping aftermarket parts to replace oem stuff. Initially it was bushings, then engine parts, suspension & tires.
It made my commute enjoyable, as the the car got faster and faster. Far from the reliable old econobox it originally was.
Now I work close by to my house..
And I drive an unmodified Corolla daily because drive to work is only 3mi. No time to enjoy and don't even feeling like modifying it now

I daily my FBO 2014 Mustang GT. It’s on Eibach Pro Kit Springs, Koni Yellows, Xo luxury wheels and Nitto NT555 G2 tires. The Pro Kit is high enough that I never have to worry about scraping unless the terrain is incredibly aggressive, and the shocks give a nice ride. I also have headers, x pipe, and some more quiet mufflers to calm down the noise. Lightly Built Trans, twin disc organic clutch and lightened steel flywheel, aluminum driveshaft and 3.73s are all fun but still very good to go for driving longer than 30 minutes. I will say though, 2 hours starts to wear on you.

Certain mods are fine. Leave everything in the engine bay alone and buy quality parts for the suspension, run tires with reasonable sidewall, and check the fluids every so often. I'd recommend taking it to a reputable shop twice a year just so they can check it out for you and see stuff you might miss.

I gotta say my V36 G35x was the perfect choice for a daily to modify in a snowy climate. But as you noted in the video, I didn't go overboard, but I did a lot. It's still NA, just heavily modded intake, exhaust, suspension, and cooling. But the best thing I did with it was a) buy a cheaper one with higher miles (115k) owned previously by a highway driving business lady, and b) completely rebuilt the suspension when installing my coilovers (I know Alex is proud of me since he talked about this in one of his videos). What I ended up with was a bangin' little car that's a blast to drive, starts up every single day without a hitch, has a bombproof engine, is fully track ready with add-on coolers, but the best part to me is I didn't have to pay for every dang bolt on at the same time. With the reliability of the motor, I've been able to space my upgrades out and still use the car in between upgrades. I now have a car with almost 150k on it that runs and rides better than new and my wife won't let me sell it because it's too much fun.
    Yes, I know. tl;dr

Rule I live by: if you're going to modify your daily, make sure that it's in a way that you won't feel self conscious about it when driving to a job interview. If you want a modified car, save up the cash monies for a second one and modify that while you drive your stock daily to work.
That being said, my Focus RS is slowly turning into a rally car...so I can't really say I'm any better.

Being realistic and doing things like choosing fat low profile tires (with a side ratio in the 40s or 50s).
I justify it as a sort of 'preventative maintenance'. For example I want to keep the front end safe by rebuilding the suspension. Planning with the cost and quality in mind. Comparing of a set of upper end OEM style struts, like Monroe's Sensa Track to end up being around the price of a lower tier set of Tein Coil overs.

my take would half to be, yes just dont go heavy on modding the engine, but aesthetic mods will be perfectly fine 99% of the time
suspension, wheels, new hoods, trunks, doors, sound system would be a nice one, muffler, headlights, window tint(if you consider that a mod), underglow lighting, even spoiler if you wanted
but the moment you start considering like a turboing or anything like that the reliability or fuel effectivity will start to lower

I have a 2015 fg4 coupe and it was just a daily "was" what keeps me confident is the fact that it's a honda so it's a bit more reliable off the get go. My mod list on it currently is full exhaust, headers, intake manifold, throttlebody, cai, 3x bigger injectors, also 3x stronger fuel pump. And underdrive pullies wrapped up with a dyno tune using hondata. If you notice I stayed away from boost. Just incase I gotta rely on my fg4 to drive back n forth but. I'm looking for a old Toyota Avalon to dd. They are comfortable. Gas saving v6 kinda loaded and reliable. Sound like wheels and suspension and done to me. That's my plan. I cannot leave a car unmolested. Now for a race car I'm currently building a eh3 hatchback with boost. Its taking forever man

If you either have a lot of capital or know how to do the work yourself. If you're concerned about making payments on time and can't even handle you're own oil changes. Definitely not. I guess another option would be to get some beater civic or corolla as a backup car, just in case you or a mechanic works on your nodded daily driver. In that case, maybe get a higher mileage one and put in the work. Getting 2020wrx hopefully tomorrow and may try to bump it to 300 hp, but if things go well my ej207 swapped 02 wrx should be on the road this summer, 285-330 whp Built motor. Live in northeast so awd is a handy thing. Also have a 07 impreza as a backup.

Lol I’m in this process right now. After crashing my first car I got “upgraded” to a Nissan Altima. I really enjoy the car, but it caused me to ask the question “whats more like?” Recently got some nicer tires on it, yokohama’s from an optimo, and I keep trying to explore options for improving the power capabilities of the engine.
Duh as far as a drivers car no ones first thought is an Altima, but its also the car I have, and a new whole car or additional car seems like a bad investment when you’re currently at school 🥴

Just do maintenance first then bolt on mods next, don't boost it. Lack of maintenance is 90% of the reason your car stops working. Whole reason I don't get to enjoy warm jumps in weather is because my power steering rack is on the ground leaking it's guts out. It's taking me some time to replace that.

The moment you decide to put over 23 lbs of boost through your engine, is the very moment your daily driver is no longer a daily driver.

I've owned my car for 5 years now, it's been nothing but reliable. I want to modify it cosmetically and maybe add an exhaust to it and a remap.

Ya I am modded but I chose mods with an eye towards making car less unreliable than other nodded set ups. New intercooler tgv/egr delete and a protune. After that wheels/suspension and I'm done. Nothing crazy and she runs better than stock

Modding a daily depends on the car. If i had a honda cr-v then it pointless.
But if i had a civic, frs, or wrx then i would. Mainly cars that have aftermarket parts.
My daily is RSX type s
    - I did coilovers first, exhaust second, my car had aftermarket intake (so i skipped that) , and my last mod is wheels
