So close to sub 2 hours!! Pikmin 1 Speedrun Explained is getting so optimized lately. A shame you had all that time-loss with the AnonymousCheerer RNG and getting sentimental at the end.
Please make a WR progression video! Pikmin 1 is one of my favorite speedrunning games because of the knowledge it takes and being able to multitask so many different things effectively... oh, and running in straight lines of course. :P
Pikmin 1 is one of my favorite games ever made. Only recently got my hands on 2 so that might change. I think it's the first game series I ever enjoyed playing over and over again so I keep wanting to beat it faster. I'm not interested in pulling off something crazy like this, but beating pikmin 1 in 14 days and pikmin 3 in 12 days were for me personally super satisfying. I'm really glad to see people are actually speedrunning this great game, super interesting to watch this too!
It's thanks to speedrunners like you that I know how to get the Sagittarius, Radiation Canopy and Geiger Counter without Blues. Here's to always having room to improve!
I know I'm late to the party here, but I've seen a few streamers who have controller/keyboard overlays to show inputs. Something like that could be a big help for these sorts of explanation videos maybe?
i really wish he didn't keep assuming people didn't wanna hear what he had to say or that people would skip. as someone who loves pikmin and is just getting into speedrunning it, it's actually really appreciated and very fascinating all the little details he has to say about it. keep up the great work man, this was a legendary run!
Thank you, and all the best in your learning! Hope to see you on the leaderboard soon. Also if you need any help at all however slight please feel free to ask.
@@Mokaygee i appreciate it! Is there a discord or some form of place I could find resources and info? I couldn't seem to find anything when glancing around, though I might not have been looking hard enough
Wow this video is really cool i love watching your runs and you have inspired me to play 9 day again. all this new knowledge will help a lot its crazy how deep this game is
If we’re watching you comment about your speed run, it’s because we want those juicy deets! Don’t be so apologetic about “wasting time” or “making the video long”. Lean into it and let the people who don’t want so many details skip through the video or simply watch something else! Good stuff. You should have gone slower and blessed us with your knowledge.
Watched a silent speed run earlier and was getting kind of annoyed, trying to figure out how they were getting away with some stuff. Really helps to hear an actual explanation.
Do you ever do "casual" runs were you just play as intended for fun or is every run a practice speed run. I can understand either option but i am not a speedrunner, i just find irl time minimizing to be too much effort for the reward. But watching speedruns is very facinating and a good source of tricks for casual runs. (Hiest mode pikmim 2 light bulb cave is way more fun than killing all your pikmin with bombs)
I've always been intrigued by minimum day runs in the Pikmin games. Pikmin 3 is by far the easiest. Especially if you're going for a 7-day any% instead of a 10-day 100%. Pikmin 1 seems to be the hardest. In both the GC and Wii versions, it seems only 6 people in total have ever done it all in 6 days. Pikmin 2 *could* be harder but idk. Because of the caves and other nonsense, "minimum day run" and "fastest time completed" are not mutually synonymous, and speedrunners will often end days early to save time. According to the wiki though, a 6 day run (5-day any%) run is the shortest that it's ever been completed.
One thing about pikmin 2 is if you get the Pluck-a-phone early it helps so much by just eliminating pluck times. And white pikmin doing what i call "heist mode" is super fun. (And the best way to handle the cavern of chaos (the one with the stelar orb and a million bombs))
6 days is the minimum number of days it takes to beat Pikmin 1. Even if you could get the Positron Generator day 1, it'll still end the day as if you got the Main Engine. No matter what you do, you will always have to revisit the Impact Site.
@@danny_cookie I remember seeing someone get the Positron day 1. I think he had to hack to get OoB, but once he did he was able to get it, without blue pikmin. But then the day ended, treating it like he got the main engine.
Tip for button mashing (for paper mario) vibrate your arm at the elbow so you whole hand is moving, this results in the smallest angular travel and is way faster than your thumb. However, this will mess up using your right hand for the C-stick. Note: i haven't tested this in pikmin but it works in other games when you have a warning that your about to button mash. (Because you often end up repositioning the controller, which may be bad for actual speedruns)

Took me way too long to realize this was a joke. lol
I love when speedrunners do these kinds of videos!

When the explanation is twice as long as the run.

How do you throw Pikmin so fast?
2 weeks late, but by C sticking towards yourself you essentially have nearly uncapped throwing speed. From there it’s just learning to mash quickly.
APerson13 Thank you for the explanation
