WALKS IN HAMPSHIRE at SHERFIELD on LODDON & HARTLEY WESPALL (RIVER LODDON & RIVER LYDE) [4K]

- This is another video in my series “ Walks in Hampshire” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode, I visit the village of Sherfield on Loddon which is located 5 miles to the North of Basingstoke in Hampshire.
Although it was a warm & dry day, it was very cloudy and as a result some of the video footage appears fairly dark (although the sun did make a brief appearance!). I went back along the route a few days later (on a sunny day) and took some clearer pictures - which I have used in this video.
I start & finish my 5 mile circular walk in the village, parking my car in a free car park just off Bramley Road. Initially I have a wander through the centre of the village along Reading Road which has two pubs, a village hall and a lovely old school building.
My route then heads West along Goddards Lane, past Sherfield Green, and just before I reach Goddards Farm, I take a footpath to the South alongside some fields. Passing Gully Copse, I reach St Leonards Church which is just to the South of a moat that was once built for a fortified Manor House in the past.
I cross the A33 at Church End and follow a tarmac road to Moulshay House, where I change direction Northwards. The path takes me through Bramble Copse and alongside a golf course to Lance Levy Farm (which has another moat to look at!).
Eventually, after walking through meadows, I cross the River Loddon and then soon after the River Lyde. At the tiny hamlet of Hartley Wespall, I follow a footpath that goes alongside Hartley Wood Common and joins up with the Brenda Parker Way Long Distance Path. This takes me back to the village via Floods Farm (which has a WW2 pillbox very nearby).
My final destination is the friendly Coffee Shop back in the village - for a coffee and some cake!

I use a GOPRO HERO 7, 8 or 10 Black Action Camera (sometimes with a Gimbal) & a Rode microphone (either a “Shotgun” or a Rode Wireless Go) together with a Canon Powershot SX530 HS.

I grew up there , that river was our favourite place to play,I lived in one of the houses at the bottom of the hill from st Mary's church ,it was and is one of my most favourite places in the uk,their video has brought me many happy memories.

A lovely circuit in beautiful countryside with lots of interest along the way. That avenue of trees as you set off would have been planted around 10 or 20 years before the house where I live now was built. I really enjoy the research you must do and the informative nuggets of information in your videos. Great job by Logan on the golf ball hunt and the 'zoomies' bought a smile to my face!
