- I didn't know what to think when Mezco solicited their One:12 Collective DC Darkseid. I knew it looked amazing, but $180? Polystone? Diecast? Thankfully in-hand the figure is pretty amazing. I still get a little nervous but I can't tell you if that's the materials or the price...

Great review as always Robo. Made my decision for me, I'll be waiting for the Storm Collectibles version.
Same for Lobo, I'm not buying that Mattel trash version...waiting for Storm.

@@omazard7388 good observation, I don't mind how tall he is in comparison to Thanos he is going w/my DC stuff and Thanos is on his throne in the marvel section lol, I cannot wait for the armored Thanos it will be a beauty.

It's an easy pass for me. Just hoping we see additional Superman villains from Mezco in the future, particularly Luthor and Brainiac.
I needed this figure to do one thing: properly cross his arms behind his back in the classic Darkseid pose. It failed.
A lot of people have posed it with his arms behind his back.
@@honestcomment862 Nope. It's half-assed. If you're genuinely curious then look for images of Darkseid with his arms crossed behind his back, and then look at what this figure is capable of doing.
He litillary had a picture at the end of the figure with his arms behind his back!!! He even said you could!!!

With that much money going on this, I’d expect articulation to be perfect. It’s basically a statue
It's an staction figure, aesthetic wise, it's beautiful, but the articulation is really disappointing

It's perfect for Darkseid. "Hands behind his back" and "hands behind his back with Omega beams" are literally all you need.
If I goes down to 100$ I’ll pick it up but it’s a rip-off for 180$

Not a perfect figure, well outside of my price range, but there's a lot to like here.
You said you weren't the biggest DC reader but you are the only reviewer I've seen that's actually compared it to the DCUC New Gods figures which I really wanted to see so I appreciate that!

Not for nothing ok but Im starting to feel like the guys at mezco went like "Ok we got a fanbase, people loves us, lets put out our last good figure (popeye) and half ass it all the way to retirement." I mean between this and the Gladiator Hulk, the wonder woman... jeez.
I think they took that approach a couple of times.
My first Mezco purchase was the Classic Iron Man and that is one of the greatest figures I own. It's near perfect. I also got the classic Wolverine and love that too. I really want this Darkseid, but that price point is just too steep for me. I need to start showing some sort of self control.
While I don’t appreciate or justify Mezco’s business tactics when it comes to certain figures in the one:12 line, I disagree that they released their remaining good figure in the form of popeye. I’m personally more excited about all the figures coming up. Not because it means I have more plastic on my shelves, it’s just because with Mezco being praised and getting a lot of attention it means they’d get a little more experimental and up the quality. But does that I want the to up the price? Hell no. I live in Australia and our average Mezco price is about $115 (due to our shitty currency exchange) so this darkseid is basically a hot toy in terms of price.
@@brotherdosco5552 prices are around the same 115-120 in dollars, it's very expensive, I can only imagine how Darkseid's price will be... I say about the 300 mark no joke, are the figures great most of the time? Definitely. Does the figures justify those prices? Mostly. But does this figure justify for us the 300 price point? Not at all

Thanks for comparing it to the Marvel Select Thanos! They look pretty good together. It’s tempting... but I can’t justify spending $180 on it.
I wish I was more of a Supe fan so I could justify grabbing this dude! I’m not a fan of what Mezco has been doing with the articulation (single jointed elbows are not cool at this price point) but it makes sense with this guy being polystone. The One:12 line is my favourite I’m collecting though!
$130-150 would have been a fine price

Well I consider the size of the figure and the materials. My armoured batman that I think had metal and light up eyes which cost I think $110. Then I think about the recent hulk and he was about $125. Now he should have been 90-110. I think the figure as it is 130 would have been an good price point. For 180 they should have done better with the articulation.
Am I the only one that feels warm and fuzzy inside seeing all those parts safe in that foam???
On a more serious note...nice review Robo! I really, really want this figure but just cannot justify the $180 price. I've spent waaaaay too much on action figures since I started collecting again back in May. The wife is ready to kill me I do believe. Too bad there isn't a way to get a discount or coupon. Hmmm...maybe I'll start a GoFundMe page???

Oh, I’m so tempted. Looking at him with those DCUC figures he looks fantastic. For Darkseid I don’t need a lot of articulation. Hell he’s got got double the articulation than all the figures from my childhood.
I’m good with him and I never articulate my mezcos all that much. Just too afraid of tearing their costumes.

This review saved me $180, thank you! Great comparison shots with other figures, especially at 11:11 with the collect & connect Darkseid, which I own. Unless the price should drop substantially at some point definite pass.

I'm not a huge dc fan, but that is a very cool figure. Looks like it does what you need it to for darkseid.
Not a Darkseid expert but proportions look a little strange as legs appear too short for rest of body (idk, maybe it's the high leg armour...or not) & that is one huge head. Disappointing the eye beams only partially light up. Feels like maybe a $20 premium (> than reg. release price) rather than $100 IMO. Nice review, thanks.
Robo, wondering if the forearm can be separated from the other part of the arm so that it can be altered for better articulation. Let me know.

@Robo Curious does the figure have all sturdy joints? Including ankles & hips most assuredly. I might cave, i like the idea of value in weight & nice materials. And it seems all my One: 12 figs are DC so far, soo .....
It's fairly sturdy, you know me, I'm never toooo careful. Sturdy while also being really smooth.
Looks great. I don't know DC that well, so it's a pass from me. But! My Popeye turned up yesterday, my first Mezco, and it's amazing! I'm giddy in the same way I was when I opened up my first SHF battle droid! Mezco rocks and I'm sooo glad I've got Punisher, Joker (crown Prince) and Daredevil on order too!

This figure really reminds me of the old school art style version. Not a whole lot of detail but just enough to make him imposing.

Well it certainly looks like a quality figure. But I just can't get over his proportions. I think it would've looked a lot better if he had the DC Universe Classics's proportions. That, combined with Mezco's attention to detail would've made this figure more of a win, even with the limited articulation. But as it stands (and with that kind of price), I'm just shaking my head: "nope!"

knowing mezco, its only going up. High end figures (heck, even marvel legends) rarely go down in value.

With the articulation on this guy, I can only imagine posing him standing with his arms behind his back. No matter what face you've got on there. Mezco should take a hint from Storm Collectibles.
Why should they take a hint from a company that doesn't even keep their own figures scaled?
Well after reading the comments I do agree with the price being to high for what you get. It looks amazing and next to you Mattel figures I’d get it to pose with them but without $130 is how much this should have gone for max. But your review was great Robo.
Everybody's talking about price but how much did it cost to make. You can then say if it worth the money or not.
It looks like Mezco has been taking notes from Mattel when it comes to articulation.
I really like how the orange looks like actual fire. Kinda disappointed if it's red in hand. Better artic definitely would've helped but my main criticism remains the use of polystone. It feels like they missed their market. Still, damn nice looking action figure. (Yes it's an action figure, just not a super articulated one).

How heavy is it?
I have a question I obviously can’t afford Hot Toys but I don’t know if I should start collecting Mezco or just go with marvel legends and dcu classics.
For me, I have no loyalty. I go with what looks best from whatever company at the right price.
If your tight on money I wouldn’t suggest collecting hot toys or mezco, unless your fine with very slowly building your collection because they’re much more expensive per 1 figure. Especially if you want to buy the more rare figures there resell values can go through the roof

You can airbrush it but I love this figure.
It looks fun but not worth that price. I regret that I PO’d this. I ended up cancelling, but I hate that I had to eat the deposit. Live and learn. Still, great review and it does look like it would make for some great photos!

Man this is a beautiful figure, but, the articulation is a real disappointment, where I live prices tend to double for most imports, this I expect the price to be no less than 300 dollars, could be 180 dollar good, but 300? I definitely do not think so. Great review as always robo!

180 us here in Canada at my comic shop plus tax turns to 287cad which is 216usd so I cant di anything but pass.. just to rich for my blood
Mezco you can't cost this much of the articulation isn't up to par. If $20 can give proper ankles, double joint knees and double jointed elbows yall should have no problem. ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY HAVE MADE FIGURES WITH DOUBLE JOINTS BEFORE

@@craigoneill8277 not when you put clothes over the figures. Plenty of companies can incorporate articulation without ruining the sculpt WITHOUT clothes. Mezco could make super articulated bodies but they don't and it boggles my mind.

I think it looks great and truly pays homage to Kirby but for that price I would only buy a figure of Conan the Barbarian
Proportions are way off. Legs are too short. Arms should not be the same length as your legs

I love the light up eyes and "chase" omega beams... but that's it.
The figure looks goofy, not even as large as the Mattel C&C. No regrets not buying this. Not much from Mezco I really regret actually - I was clued in to the intial Dark Knight offering but then the price was announced - hell no, at $75.
The only set I'm impressed with is the Black Bolt set - ordered two. Would have liked Conan but I can live without it.
Mezco is the Hot Toys of six inches - initially overpriced (first Hot Toys offering was General Rommel for $80 when every other 12" war figure topped out at $40....) and just goes up and up. Premium pricing for suckers.
