VQ Model / H-King Mustang P-51B 'Berlin Express' 1580mm ARF, Full Flight Review

- Its been a while, as other life commitments have kept me away from the sticks, but I did find some time however a little earlier this summer to assemble and get some very nice flights on my new go to balsa ARF hack, the VQ P-51B. Its not the prettiest , but it certainly flies very well and gives me that quick and easy balsa warbird fix I was looking for.
You can get it on the below link, and from others like Macgegor in the UK, but that does not come with the retracts and oleo's I think and those are worth having.

I'm starting my build of this model. Thanks for the heads-up on the weak landing gear wire. I had wheel collars that were the perfect size to fit the wire, so 2 of those filled the gap nicely between the gear mechanism and the strut. Hopefully that will help keep the wire from bending 🙂
Watched your video again this morning and with the Mustang 15% off on a Black Friday sale at $218 US I placed my order :-) I'll be going electric with an Emax GT4030-353KV (50x60 can size). One of only two on my winter build list now. Thanks for the inspiration!

Enjoyed watching this video very much. I have a Hangar 9 p51 mustang that I have been flying since 2011. Its got an OS 55ax two stroke which powers it very nicely. I'm very impressed with this plane in the way that it flys rock solid. I would love to buy it and put an electric motor in it like yours. You flew it great.

If you take it as a sports model is a cool P-51 cloths, it a good flying sports scale model, you'll not be disappointed.

Can you measure pls?1500 it is more like an 46 size airplane 1600 it is 60 size. I read about missleading about weight . Ca you tell us your airplane total weight please? Hi stuart started flying this year. With fms supercub. I am now flying an old kyosho curtiss p40 warhawk balsa its big jump but love flying it. I'm looking for next project really like this one go nice with warhawk. How bad is the under carrage im thinking im flying 9 year old warhawk now perhaps be ok for me
Hi, it’s a simple fix really,just replace the supplied 4mm rod with a harder steel on from the model shop, it’s a ten min job. And if you’re flying the P-40 this is no problem. It’s actually a pussy cat to land.

Hi, I'm wondering you fly Taranis why don't you use telemetry amp sensor so you can monitor voltage and amp draw and consumtion too. the capacity monitor you are using is not that accurate.

Have you set the control throws as descriped in the manual. Are 6mm for aileron not a bit too low?
Klaus Herrmann hello. I had approx 6mm for my low rates setting and for scale found them to be fine.

I like the A-36 Apache ground attack version with the dive brakes myself. That would really turn heads!

What servos do you used?
Bluebird standard size servo's with I think 12kg of torque if I recall correctly.
I agree that balsa flies better, but why?
Its a stiffer material and builds into a more rigid airframe that carries inertia better in the air too I believe, thus resulting in a better flying model. This is what I think anyway ;)
This is true, but with the use of CF in the new foamy planes and active stabilization, they are getting almost identical, I would say the balsa/ply builds are still mildly ahead with all being equal.

Don Carpenter hi, it’s similar but I’m certain it is not, it you are referring to the original Kyosho 40 ARF with mechanical retracts then no, they are not the same model.
I have the Hangar 9 P51 Red Tail with electric retracts and flaps I also fly mine on a 6s 4500 40c pack but my motor is a 5055 900kv on a 12x7e prop and is a little bit quicker than yours. On fast passes whistles down the strip like the real thing although my fast passes tend to be 6 foot off the ground not 6 inches like yours !! 😂😂🤣🤣😁👌
Who makes the motor you’re using. Did you have to add any weight to get cg?

@@stevearmett1565 does it ground handle nice if you don’t full throttle. Most confuse hard torque roll on takeoff as in don’t just jam it full throttle and expect it to lift in air easy lmao. I never heard that motor. I’ll google and check it out. Thanks.

I just look beyond that. This model is not going to win any scale prizes, nor is it trying to, its only ever meant to have been a sports model that looks a bit like a Mustang, AKA 'Sports Scale'.
