In January I read Bringing Down the Duke and A Rogue of One's Own by Evie Dunmore and absolutely ADORED both of them. I love the fact that the suffrage movement isn't simply a backdrop, but a really important aspect of both storylines. Your list looks amazing, I will definitely check most of them out!
Tessa Dare is delightful. I love having my Goodreads up when watching your videos to add to my tbr. This month I read The Hating Game by Sally Thorne and the first two in a series about aliens by Hope Hart.
If you like hist romance with some wit and humor, try Eloisa James. She's quite possibly the most gifted hist romance author I have ever come across (and I have read A LOT of hist romance!). And try the other Kushiel series by Jacqueline Carey for some adult fun, high fantasy and drama! Thanks for the great video. This is the first video I've seen from you (via a link pb Carey's twitter) but it certainly won't be the last. I love that you don't shy away fron the tacky covers! Will be reading Radiance right away! Already downloaded it on my kindle. Thanks!
OK, so I read Radiance by Grace Draven per your recommendation and WOW I think I’ve been ruined for any other romantic plot lines in the future. It’s the most believable, healthy, sweet, respectful, and genuine relationship I’ve ever read in a book. We NEED more romantic plot lines like this make us feel whole and happy, not a little concerned for the characters and their bad judgement. Whew!! Thanks for the recommendation. I’m having a hard time moving on and just want to read it five more times, LOL. I’ll be reading more of her books for sure.
I'm reading the series by Talia Hibbert, and absolutely adore them - the first is Get A Life, Chloe Brown. Literally finished the second one TO-DAY. I loved the characters, I loved their families, and most importantly I loved how the "challenge" that the characters have to overcome to be together makes sense for their characters and allows them to grow. ugh. I just adore them and they bring me so much joy. SO excited for the third one!
Radiance is now on my all-time favorites list. I love Ildiko and Brishen so much, and their relationship feels more real and fleshed out than a lot of romances. I think I’ve read it 3 or 4 times now, and it is the most comforting thing. I also loved Spindle Cove, though my favorite is the second, featuring our spectacle-wearing geologist. Steaminess for days! Historical and fantasy are definitely my favorites sub genres as well.
Loved this video and have added a few to my TBR! Love Tessa Dare. Have you ever read Courtney Milan? Her Brothers Sinister series is really good and there's even some class politics being shown in the first one, The Duchess War.
I'm the kind of reader who thinks romance is not for them but some of those really intrigued me, especially Radiance and Namaah's Kiss! And you have been talking so positively about The Madness of Lord Ian McKenzie for some time now so I'm really intrigued ahah... Thank you for enlarging my horizons in such passionate fashion, once again!!
These recommendations came at just the right time for me! I normally avoid romance books, but I recently read The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary, which I absolutely love and found to be so wholesome. It made me realise that I don't actually dislike romance novels -- just toxic ones. The books you mentioned sound exactly like the relationships I would love to read about.
Such a fantastic video! If you love historical romance, I highly recommend anything by Lisa Kleypas (particularly her “Wallflowers” and “Hathaways” series) and Stacy Reid. Reid is a new-to-me author but I recently read the first two books in her “Sinful Wallflowers” series and adored them.
Always great to have some romance recommendations. The two most recent ones that I’ve enjoyed were The Other Bennet Sister and Don’t You Forget About Me.
When you were mentioning the first book, I IMMEDIATELY thought of The Parasol Protectorate Series by Gail Carriger. A woman "past marriageable age" and who doesn't fit the societal idea of beauty. A truly swoon-worthy romance. Oh and vampires and werewolves. One of my favorite series and I go back to it constantly. It might fit more as paranormal than fully romance but the romance is a large part of it. Also the Lady Julia Grey series by Deanna Raybourn has a really nice mix of murder and romance. Also also love your videos! Thanks for all the great recommendations!
I read Naamah’s Kiss on your recommendation at the end of last year. I loved it! I’ll be making time for the other two books later this year. I found Susanna Craig, through one of your videos, too.... they’re throughly enjoyable.
I like this video so much. She has a good voice to tell her reviews. Her videos are very useful to practice my listening skill in English. Greetings from Sonora, México.
In the Mackenzie series that you mentioned, The Many Sins of Lord Cameron and The Wicked Deeds of Daniel Mackenzie are really notable for talking about domestic violence, rape/sexual assault, living with trauma and over coming them (maybe not the best portrayal but yeah). Also Judith McNaught romances are too good. Especially titles such as 'Once and Always' and the Westmoreland books
Radiance has been my number 1 romance novel for a while, but I just read Entreat Me (also by Grace Draven) and I think it takes the number 1 spot for me.
I love hearing about how people have come to love Romance and what their favourites are. I loved Radiance bt Grace Draven too though I wasn't so blown away by Eidolon. I personally prefer shifter based Romance or contemporary Romance. I recently put up a video talking about my favourite Romance authors xx
A great 6 book series would be the Trewlove family in the Sins for All Seasons series by Lorraine Heath. Highly recommend to read in order, it connects and grows throughout. The last book is its own romance and a wrap up up the family and so good! I also love The Duke and the Baron by Jenn LeBlanc and The Wild Child by Mary Jo Putney. Both deal with sensitive subjects. Happy Reading!
My favourite romance authors are Tessa Dare, Lisa Kleypas and Elizabeth Hoyt. I would recommend all of them (well you already know how amazing Tessa Dare is :P). Try Elizabeth Hoyt, she has just the most wonderful characters and unusual plotlines. Her Maiden Lane series is divine. :D Also love Entreat Me, it's the best! :D Would love to see another weekly outfits video, your style is just gorgeous and I adore the fact you wear dresses and skirts most of the time. You are such a fashion inspiration! :D
Radiance is a favorite but also enjoyed Linda Howards books Heatbreaker and MacKenzie's Mountain but my all time favorite now and forever has to be 'Whitney My Love' by Judy Mc Naught. :-)
I love the Wraith Kings series soooo much! I read Radiance and it’s sequel Eidolon last year and adored them both! They’ve definitely become some of my all time favorites!! I can’t wait to read the third book once it’s out in paperback!!
If you haven't read A Lady's Guide to Celestial Mechanics or the sequel, The Care and Feeding of Waspish Widows, they're both historical F/F romances that I absolutely loved! There's a lot of really interesting historical background and facts in addition to some really beautiful romances.
I’ve barely scraped the genre, I wouldn’t say it’s for me, but two that I really enjoyed reading were ‘Loving Søren’ by Caroline Coleman O'Neill, an historical novel based on the real life relationship between 19th century Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard and Regine Olsen, and also ‘Strange Weather in Tokyo’ by Hiromi Kawakami, set in contemporary Japan.
Mauler and Questus by english writer Shawn Williamson. Mauler is indicated by english writer, historian, cinema director Andrew Sinclair. He compares It with White Fang by Jack London.
I had to go to the ER for the first time in the middle of the night because of a severe allergic reaction on my skin tonight. You made a really scary and uncomfortable experience way more pleasant and happy. Thank you so much.
@@JeansThoughts Thanks! I’m definitely much less anxious about the whole situation now and my skin is getting better slowly. I’ve been a fan of your channel for years and it just felt serendipitous when I saw the notification that you’d uploaded a video! Especially one so light and fun!! 😂
idk if it counts as ~Romance but girl meets boy by ali smith is a rly lovely like literary fiction/romance novel & it's a retelling of a myth !! & also i loved the short sci fi story by neon yang waiting on a bright moon, which i feel like u read a while back maybe? i thought it was such a beautiful romance ❣❣
I really liked girl meets boy! I'm currently trying to read Ali Smith's seasonal quartet but not enjoying them nearly as much as girl meets boy :) p sure I bought it based off Jean recommending it a few years ago...
I'm reading The Ippos King now & I swear if Anhuset gets her heart broken I'm going to... I don't know. Be sad & disappointed? 🤣 Hoping for the best but I'm unsure of where the story is going. Love this series though!
The first two follow the same protagonists (couple) and book three follows side characters but I still need to read that one so don't know if the previous couple get featured much or not :D.
I really must try to step out of my comfort zone. I always cross the road when I see a romance heading in my direction. Maybe it's time to give them a try.
Would you be able to do an updated version of this topic Jean? The video is brilliant!
In January I read Bringing Down the Duke and A Rogue of One's Own by Evie Dunmore and absolutely ADORED both of them. The Kiss Quotient was a surprise hit for me. I'm going to be picking up Black Witch Magic -- it sounds like fun!
I always love your thumbnails, but this one of you looking lovestruck into the distance is an absolute classic!

Oh my gosh, thank you so much for the shout-out and the very kind words regarding my books!
I need the predictability in my reading right now. Romance novels for the win during covid times. Wonderful recommendations❣️
100% agree!

Hi Jean!! Loved this 💐 I've really want to get into more romance, so this was perfect x

I read Jennifer Ashley’s first book in her other series that’s a mystery series and really enjoyed it. I might have to check out this one too.
I adore Proper English! It was the first time I ever felt represented in a romance novel and I thank you for the recommendation 💖💖💖
Oh I am so pleased to hear that!!!
Always great to have some romance recommendations. The two most recent ones that I’ve enjoyed were The Other Bennet Sister and Don’t You Forget About Me.
I love The Other Bennett Sister. It one of the really decent Austen spin offs.
Omg! I just bought 3 of these recommended books! Thank you 😊

I really think Netflix should adapt Spindle Cove, it would make a great series and less s*xual assault than Bridgerton
YES PLEASE!
Radiance has been my number 1 romance novel for a while, but I just read Entreat Me (also by Grace Draven) and I think it takes the number 1 spot for me.
Oooooh contentious ;) I know what you mean though - it's so good and different.
I love hearing about how people have come to love Romance and what their favourites are. I loved Radiance bt Grace Draven too though I wasn't so blown away by Eidolon. My favorite romances are the paranormal ones!! Btw the red lipstick looks amazing on you.
If Grace Craven wrote a shopping list, I would read it.
I love these recommendations ❣
I loved all these recommendations, thank you Jean ! Have you read the Bridgerton series by any chance ? It it good ?
I have loved all of KJ Charles' books that I've read. My plan is to get through all of them
Ahhh I loved Radiance. I am so excited to read Eidolon next :)

Ooh nice, I nearly bought Sofia Khan the other day, and now I will!
This video just motivated me to reread Radiance!
Help! I've just finished Radiance and absolutely loved it, should I go on to read the sequels?
Just getting into Spindle Cove 😍 oh my gosh such a compelling read! But how on earth do you buy these books in physical? I swear they are nowhere 😂
Radiance is a favorite but also enjoyed Linda Howards books Heatbreaker and MacKenzie's Mountain but my all time favorite now and forever has to be 'Whitney My Love' by Judy Mc Naught. :-)

You are so funny in this video! Multiple funny moments I laughed out loud :DD
A Knight in Shining Armour by Jude Deveraux. One of the most romantic books I've read, it's an all-time favourite of mine
Could you do a Top 10 Palentines day list too? Like best books that center around meaningful friendships?
i quite enjoy olivia waites sapphic historical romances :)
I REALLY need to read her!
This was perfect 👌🏾. I just purchased Black Witch Magic ✨ 😃

Have you read The Lady's Guide to Celestial Mechanics? It's my favourite F/F regency romance!!
No but it’s at the top of my TBR!
Great recommendations! If you haven't, I highly recommend kristen ashley. She's one of my favorite authors!
Mauler and Questus by english writer Shawn Williamson. Mauler is indicated by english writer, historian, cinema director Andrew Sinclair. He compares It with White Fang by Jack London.

@@queenlucysroyalmaid1 yh i def preferred it to the one book of the quartet i read, so that doesnt surprise me!
Please please please read more historical romance and give reviews, you just make them sound fantastic like I've got to read it straight away
I'm reading The Ippos King now & I swear if Anhuset gets her heart broken I'm going to... I don't know. Be sad & disappointed? 🤣 Hoping for the best but I'm unsure of where the story is going. Love this series though!
NOOOO - I need their story to work out. I should probably start book 3 soon aha.
Call me predictable but when you upload, i clock watch... that simple x
Jean, The Radiance series, is a series but each is a standalone? Or is it a series following the same set of protagonists?
The first two follow the same protagonists (couple) and book three follows side characters but I still need to read that one so don't know if the previous couple get featured much or not :D.
Thank youuuu😍😻👍😻👆😍🕸
I really must try to step out of my comfort zone. I always cross the road when I see a romance heading in my direction. Maybe it's time to give them a try.
Aha I swear I used to be the same but there is so much to choose from there's a good chance there's a romance for you!
Radiance 👍
Lovely video and some of the stories sound interesting.. Just think the covers are terrible.. They could have done something better in there..
Anna Karenina doesn't make the top 10?
Wait. Sorry. Do not read that book if you like horses
cute lippy
