They are water soluble too! I use mine as watercolor pencils, and if I use them like that they don’t have to have a fixative either. Percy and pretty results. I like them that way better than watercolor pencils.
These look fabulous Claire and it looks like the pencil numbers are the same as Polychromos so will be great to use together. What a great giveaway, good luck everyone
Well done claire another amazing review and give away. These look so much easier to use and the price is definitely surprising. I'll be looking into these xx
Thanks for doing the giveaway! I've been wanting to try pastel pencils since I learned about them. It's funny, right before this video popped up in my suggestion feed I decided invest in a black and a white to see what they were like.
Hi Claire. Yes these are divine . I have three that I tried and I love them. Thankyou for the review you have answered all my questions I thought about asking myself. Now I can see all the beautiful colours that are so earthy . Wonderful giveaway thankyou❤️❤️❤️
Brill video, Claire! Thanks for another informative review. 😊😊😊 How do you find breakage in the Pitt Pencils? I've had my derwent pastel pencils for a long time, but find they break easily inside despite how careful I am with them. With pastel pencils/pastels, I try to use the dust residue for softening the edges. A tortillion /paper stump is great, but the best thing to use? Loo roll/kitchen roll shaped into a sharp or blunt point. Another item I use is a small, fluffy eyeshadow brush. I pick the colour up from the pastel pencil/full pastel and then "paint" onto the page. For really fine lines, an eyeliner brush works wonders. 💖
What a wonderful give away!! I would love to have these! I've seen so many beautiful portrait style pages done with pastels and I would love to try them with skin tones.
I am so glad that I came across this video. I have bought some Pitt pastels at a local craft store that was going out of business. There were open Stock and cost next to nothing and I never knew what I could you do with them. I have other fixative but do you think I need to have a pastel fixative particularly? And can I use these for backgrounds? Thanks for everything you do I'm always coming across something cool on your Channel.
Genuinely surprised and pleased with your demonstration of these pencils. I have always avoided them in the past. You dispelled all of my fears with using these pastel pencils, and I would love to win a set. Thanks for the demonstration.
Wow. That effortless blending and being able to erase it that well. I think I might be sold on these. I entered the giveaway, but might have to buy some if I don't win. I mainly use Prismacolor, and I've been thinking about Polychromos, but I think these might be more fun.
Thanks for this, I was worried that you could only use these pencils with the pastel paper but now I realize that it’s alright to use them on normal sketchbooks thanks for this x. 😘
Did you know you can use hairspray as a much cheaper fixative and serious artists use it. There is an article out there where scientists tested the hairspray against fixative and found it to be just as effective.
I've never tried any pastel pencils but Faber Castell is a great brand so I am sure they are amazing. Thank you for the giveaway and the informative review. :)
Soft pastels and pastel pencils were my very first art medium years and years ago, until I moved on and settled on watercolor. It's been ages since I last used soft pastels. It would be fantastic to try them again! Good luck to me and everyone else. :D
These look fabulous!! Thank you so much for showing us how to use them, as I've been looking at the pastel pencils. Like you, I was a bit leary in how they would work and the mess. Love anything Faber Castell - quality for sure!!
Thank you so much for the review! Good to hear they keep their tips. I’m new at coloring/drawing and I am trying to learn different pressures and styles. Good luck everyone!
This demo was awesome ! I can see that someone with joint problems, aches and pains etc.. could use these pencils and enjoy the coloring processes.. YEAH.. I know that I have seen so many people on the various coloring groups looking for blending ideas cause they do suffer from hand fatigue or pain. I am sure many may have even given up using colored pencils for that reason alone. Thanks for demonstrating these..
Thank you for your informative video! Keen to try the Derwent pastel sharpener, I’m not keen to butcher my beautiful pencils with the exacto knife although that seems to serve great artists well.
I was recommended to come to this channel and have enjoyed the wide variety in your videos. Your information you have given, I am writing them down in my journal.
Great review. I use stick pastels (Terry Ludwig, Blue Earth), but I've avoided pastel pencils due to the sharpening difficulty..never knew they made a pastel sharpener. Seeing u use these lovely pencils and sharpener has changed my mind. TY for doing this giveaway, and a big TY to Keni for her donation.
I never would have thought to use these because of the amount of debris usually found in regular pastels. But, you have sold me on these. I am putting them on my wish list. And...thank you for the giveaway!
Fabulous demonstration a gain Claire. I think that faber castell are my favourite pencils I've got a 24 set and I am Saving for the 160 set. I have also looked at different pastel mediums. Oh! I need these wonderful Pastel Pencils, these are perfect to me because has i hate to touch pastels on my hands that's why i never bought stick's one, well i have 1/2 sticks but i use them with an exacto for my Background but with these whe will be able to color the tiny elements on a Drawing Pages, i'm not like you Claire i always Keep the Dust of these Pastels and i put them on different bottles to get different shade of colors and it's Magic like the Fairy Dust when i use the Dust for a Background or othert things the result is Fantastic and i'm shure not being able to achieved that kind of Magic colors, i do the same with my colored pencils LOL! Thank You so much for the great review Claire and for the wonderful Giveaway, fingersd cross, Good Luck everyones!

These pencils are so smooth! I thought the "scratching" noise would be uncomfortable but it is bearable hahaha Very good quality! Thanks for the review and the giveaway
I’m not getting on well with Rafflecopter and for some reason every time I do the Facebook one it won’t let me enter but never mind 🤷♀️ Thank you for the review Claire, I assumed that pastel pencils would wear down really quickly and be messy. I now have a new medium to add to my wish list. 🙂
I've been curious about pastel pencils, as I want the blendability of pastels without the mess and imprecision of using them in the traditional stick form. This demo has me intrigued, so I might get a small set to try them out. Also, to address the smudging issue, I've heard that anti-fouling gloves can help prevent smudging with any medium. Best of luck to everyone who has entered the giveaway!
So excited to see this, thank you for this wonderful demonstration video! I love Faber-Castell - I have a set of their Polychromos and a set of their Classic pencils. I have to admit I love the Classics (budget friendly!) the most. These pstels look awesome! I would love a set of these pastels, but win or lose I thank you for the chance at getting a set!
wowzers those color nicely claire!! would you use those everyday coloring or background or certain times when you want an extra bump on ur page? thank you for sharing! thank you for giveawy
I can't believe I won! I am so excited! Thank you very much Claire 💗
I have been scared of this medium as well. You did a great job showing us what they can do. Thank you for your generosity.
They are water soluble too! I use mine as watercolor pencils, and if I use them like that they don’t have to have a fixative either. Percy and pretty results. I like them that way better than watercolor pencils.

Thanks for doing the giveaway! I've been wanting to try pastel pencils since I learned about them. It's funny, right before this video popped up in my suggestion feed I decided invest in a black and a white to see what they were like.
Nice review. Now you've made me curious about these pencils. My wallet doesn't like you lol.
Nor do mine 😏
Pastels in general are great, easy to work with...just have to be fixed after used, hair spray works...but at least 30-40cm distance
Sometimes hairspray can yellow over time x
I was thinking about buying it, but now I'm going to buy it, and i'm sure the video has benefited me a lot, thank you very much ❤️
I’ve been eyeing pastel pencils ever since I saw May use them in a stream. I see a trip to Buick’s (finally) in my future.
They should get Brad Pitt to endorse this
😂
You forgot to mention that they are water soluble....
Great review Claire
