- Driving Downtown Streets - Yonge Street - Toronto Ontario Canada - Episode 15.
Starting Point: Yonge Street & St Clair Avenue - goo.gl/maps/4aoaoUm3kg72 .
The most famous and busiest road in Toronto is Yonge Street, which begins at the end of Lake Ontario and runs through downtown, continuing north all the way to the city of Barrie, Ontario. Other streets such as Dundas, Bloor, Queen, King, and University are also very popular.

Yonge is Toronto's main street, hosting parades, street performances and demonstrations.

Toronto is the most populous city in Canada,[12] the provincial capital of Ontario,[13] and the centre of the Greater Toronto Area, the most populous metropolitan area in Canada.[14] In the 2011 census, Toronto had a population of 2,615,060, making it the fifth largest city in North America.[6] A population estimate from a city report released in 2013 shows the city is now the fourth most populous city in North America, after Mexico City, New York City, and Los Angeles.[15][16] A global city,[17] Toronto is an international centre of business, finance, arts, and culture,[18][19] and is widely recognized as one of the most multicultural and cosmopolitan cities in the world.[20][21][22][23][24]
Aboriginal peoples have inhabited the area now known as Toronto for thousands of years.[25] The urban history of the city dates back to 1787, when British officials negotiated the Toronto Purchase with the Mississaugas of the New Credit.[26] They established the Town of York, and later designated it as the capital of Upper Canada.[27] During the War of 1812, the town was the site of the Battle of York and suffered heavy damage by U.S. troops.[28] York was renamed and incorporated as the City of Toronto in 1834, and became the capital of the province of Ontario in 1867.[29] The original borders of Toronto were expanded through amalgamation with surrounding municipalities at various times in its history, the results of which can be seen in the 140 independently unique and clearly defined official neighbourhoods that make up the city.[30]
Located in Southern Ontario on the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario, Toronto is situated on a broad sloping plateau intersected by an extensive network of rivers, deep ravines, and urban forest.[31] It anchors the Golden Horseshoe, a densely populated region surrounding the western end of Lake Ontario that is home to 8.7 million people,[32] or around 26% of the entire population of Canada.[33] The demographics of Toronto make it one of the world's most diverse cities,[20][21] with about 50% of residents having been born in a country other than Canada,[34] and over 200 distinct ethnic origins represented among its inhabitants.[35] The vastly international population of the city reflects its current and historical role as an important destination for immigrants to Canada.[34][36] While English is the primary language spoken by the majority of Torontonians, there are over 160 different languages spoken in the city.[37]
Toronto is a prominent centre for music,[38] theatre,[39] motion picture production,[40] and television production,[41] and is home to the headquarters of Canada's major national broadcast networks and media outlets.[42] Its varied cultural institutions,[43] which include numerous museums and galleries, festivals and public events, entertainment districts, national historic sites, and sports activities,[44] are key attractions to the over 25 million tourists that visit the city each year.[45][46] Toronto is well known for its skyscrapers and high-rise buildings,[47] in particular the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere, the CN Tower.[48] As Canada's commercial capital, the city is home to the Toronto Stock Exchange, the headquarters of Canada's five largest banks,[49] and the headquarters of many large Canadian and multinational corporations.[50] Its economy is highly diversified with strengths in technology, design, financial services, life sciences, education, arts, fashion, business services, environmental innovation, food services, and tourism.

I wish someone did this 20 years ago. You'd see how much Toronto has changed. Yonge street is unrecognizable compared to when I was in high school. That goes for all of downtown Toronto. Even the skyline is unrecognizable.
Fascinating how quickly a city can transform itself. I've thought the same thing about wishing to see videos like this 20 or 200 years ago. Would be fascinating! Thanks for commenting :)
I have a couple of suggestions. For video, it's a lot older than 20 years ago, but there's a Ron Mann movie called The Strip that highlights Yonge Street in the early 70s.
Not video but going to Google streetview and then going back to earlier dates shows how much it has changed since they began doing that. I used to live on Yonge Street a little above Wellesley and now, only a few years later, I will be driving by my old building and not even realize it because everything is being razed for condos.
I'm 17 and I drove from New Jersey to Ottawa, Canada with my dad and the rest of the family, it was an amazing drive! Really fun!
i live in East Newark nj
9 months back I saw this video, came to Toronto from india, I'm loving here such a beautiful city.
Toronto has to be one of the best cities in the world, love Toronto, much love from a New Yorker
Hello sir

Awesome. I love all your videos, Keep 'em comin'! I also really like that you don't have any background music -- I much prefer to hear the actual sounds of the city as you drive, it really adds to the illusion that you're really there while watching.

Exactly Bro. That's what i was thinking. i am supposed to shift there soon and in some moments i actually felt i was there

Man, thanks so much for that drive down memory lane. I lived there over 10 years ago. Glad to see some familiar stores are still where I left them. Love you Toronto!
Enigma you can’t compare Canada to Russia. Russia is a shit hole
Why you lift it my dream is to live there🥺
Toronto Canada has the best scenery I've ever seen out of any city! I'm not talking about sunny weather and palm trees, I'm talking about cleanliness and skylines...The vibes of the streets, billboards and everything!
You're so right. I couldn't word it better than this. I agree.
Not Chicago, NYC, Miami, Seattle, Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, Atlanta, Denver look better
guy you make wanna get there yesturday... must be a great city
Chicago is kinda like this but better in my opinion. Better architecture and larger streets
try to visit montreal..
I love how everything is organized, this was so relaxing to watch lol
I'm from Montreal but I gotta say, Toronto is a very nice city.
Attila Ambrus I prefer your city, lol

I'm from Italy and Canada looks extremely amazing!
:)
I'm from Toronto, and I spent a few days in Rome. Rome is extremely amazing!
Ameida You do realise that europeannations have the exact healthcare as Canada's? Slow but free, that's how the system works. Also, Canada is basically an Europeanized nation so we have lots of the Europe nation traits. Education in Canada is one of the best on earth. Also Canada ranked 2nd best nation to live in in 2017. I don't see any European nations besides Scandinavia / Switzerland on that list Hm? Stop your bragging and if your going to hate, just leave. We don't need haters like yourself.
Ameida Culture in Canada is widely accepted unlike European nations where the natives are against it. May I remind you weather in Canada is hot in the summer, warm in spring, cold in some places in the winter and warm in September. LOTS of European nations have worse weather than Canada.
Ameida Security? Canada has better security than nearly all European nations. The only European countries you could consider have better security are UK and Germany.
Thank you for this video. I love this city and unfortunately had no choice but to leave 5 months ago and loved the 2 years I lived there. The people were amazing and the city was incredible! Thanks!
I must say, I found this video so relaxing to watch, thank you for excluding the usual ear bashing aka loud unflattering background music...very good quality too...clear and crisp...
I went to Toronto twice in the past 3 years. I'd definitely go back there soon.
thanks for the video! saying it as a person who is planning to move to Toronto in 6 months it really is an inspiring video wow what a lovely city man! u made my day thanks!

znbdyf dyf winter was warm last year. so far in the 20s in October. if you want real cold go to Winnipeg that's real cold
You (and us) probably would hate winter anywhere. Have you been to places where snow too? Do you know there are places need to deal with monsoon typhoon, hurricane, rainstorm, flooding, landslide and smog, etc. etc. ?
znbdyf dyf im from Mississauga
I feel ya man
winter is why i want to go
It's amazing how much this street has changed since you filmed this video and it will change even more within the next 5 years! It will seem almost like a different street
Hello
I've been to Toronto often. I really like how the city has retained many old structures among the towering skyscrapers. I've driven this stretch of Yonge Street many times...but I still miss the giant, spinning neon disks of "Sam The Record Man".
Me too
Traffic doesn't look bad compared to NYC
I'm from Toronto and this looks like early morning on the weekend. Traffic isn't great, like any big city but if you know how to get around, you get there.
Yonge street has its congestion zones at certain times of the day. It can get pretty bad closer to the end in the core, around Yonge and Dundas Square near Eaton Centre mall, Yorkville, and around the start of the video by St Clair west during the morning and after work rush.
isnt NYC larger than all canada? lol that could be why
Off by about 28 million. the GTA is about 2 million less than NYC.
@@TheWho58 are you stupid Canada is largerthan USA and it is the 2nd largest country in the world u dumbass

Hello dear how are you doing today?
Thanks for the video! Planning my birthday getaway to Toronto now and I'm so fascinated with the city. I'm from the Toledo/Detroit area in Ohio and can't wait to see something new the Canadian border is only 45 mins away from me!
Hey when are you going to come, be sure to hurry before it gets cold
Montrez Stokes
I have friends in Michigan literally 20mins from the Windsor/Sarnia crossing. You're maybe 2hrs from Toronto from there if traffic isn't too tight. If you intend to hold up downtown, take transit. Our parking coupled with traffic can be frustrating.
why u miss such a beautiful city. i think us also good that it.
headlesschicken6661 it's like 4 hours from Windsor. And about 3 hours from Sarnia. Not 2.
That idiot made me laugh, Detroit complains about Toronto's cold weather? WTF LOL.
I live in Toronto. I'll never love anywhere as much as Toronto :)

Wow! I left a comment on your Front St video, not knowing you had a Yonge St video. Spectacular! J Utah & Thanks a lot.
As a Brit I can not stress enough how underrated Toronto is. Its a magnificent city tbh. Its like a cleaner, more modern New York but perhaps a bit less happening than NYC. Especially during the cold winter months between Nov-Feberuary. So much to see and do not only in Toronto but across Canada. Love the place!
I lived in Toronto 2 times and always loved the city. Thankfully I'm only gone away from city temporarily

Hannah Maria venegas might wanna start saving up 40 years past because the housing market sure is pricey in Toronto lol. Seriously, if you wanna buy in even 40 minutes away from the city core, it’s a million dollars for a decent townhouse, anything cheaper is a complete shitshow
40 minutes by foot that is, so about 15 minutes by car, though good luck finding parking space
Not only that but it's hard af to get Canadian citizenship. You be waiting forever for that shit to go through. Plenty of Americans would love to live in Canada if they could.
You can do that! The only person who decides where you will live in the future ist you. And isn't that awesome If you can in ten years 'I did it'. It's your Life :)

I lived in Toronto 15 years ago. I sure recognize a lot of buildings and places I went to. This is like a visit. Very nice. I went to all the Starbucks in the video.
Awesome. Thank you for your video.
Very cool video. Toronto sort of has this messy/clean look to it. It's appealing to me for whatever reason.
@Kyle Kariba
Things can get a little monotonous further out of the core closer to the former subs. Old Town, you'll find buildings dating back to the origins of the city next to new conditions development across from a 60s era apartment with mixed retail space with a modernised storefront. We dont tear down every building nor do we leave a lot of older decrepit ones to stand.
ClimberGreg Lol you sure aren’t “world class” talking like that
BOLP Oh be quiet Americans think they’re the best in the world and learn literally nothing about other countries. I know because I grew up partially there. Americans are beyond ignorant when they talk about other cities and countries.
