Yes. Pleeeease react to Gene Shinozaki’s wildcard, “Metamorphosis”. Literally teared up it was so beautiful.
There are a toooon of techniques that Show-Go and other beatboxers use. Different lip oscillations, percussive elements, polyphonic vocalizations……. very awesome.
Welcome to the beatbox family.I hope you really enjoyed Show-Go's performance. If you wanna see another great video I suggest reacting to Top 7 GBB Wildcards 2021 (GBB-Grand Beatbox Battle)
Much love from the beatbox community. It's really funny you identified the "double voice" immediately. It's exactly what beatboxers call it and Show-Go is famous for it. He's not the only one who does it but one can argue he pioneered it in beatboxing and a lot of other beatboxers have learned it or wanted to learn it after watching Show-Go.
Hey man just a friendly guy here! Just wondering why you said something along the lines of 'i guess you can argue show go is the one that pioneered the double voice', it sounds it bit weird to me because I'm pretty sure Show-go invented the double-voice himself atleast the one that he does, and most beatboxers that used it only picked it up after show go himself posted a tutorial on it with english translation. So ye just wondering if I was wrong, or maybe you did know but kinda misworded it?
So my point being, there shouldnt be anything to argue about that show-go pioneered it
@@trumpmeister4990 I'm pretty sure double voice is also a singing technique so I didn't want to say Show-Go invented it because I can only assume it's been around before he was even born but like you said, he invented the one we know of in beatboxing.
@@trumpmeister4990 haha bruh every guy who starts his comment like that usually aint friendly just passive aggressive
OMG! thanks so much for this reaction, I was hoping some vocal coaches would cover some of this year's beatboxing routines which had a lot of interesting vocal techniques. If you're interested I'd also recommend Stitch, Gene, and Den's wildcard for this year which all feature unique singing techniques.
Some people react to the winner compilation video all at once which has most of the performers I mentioned above, but there's probably enough things to talk about in each video to do separate reactions to each if you prefer.
Welcome to the beatbox family!! The journey has just begun hehe
i think from how stitch explained it ... its a whisper + your headvoice ...usually double voice is very airy ... and the pop filter i think stops that
WHOEVER RECOMMENDED THIS I absolutely love. Welcome to the Beatbox world my friend Ive watched you for ages and Im so happy there is a vocal coach looking into Beatboxing as theres so many unbelievable vocal techniques they use!
the “vocal flip” is what show go is know for, it’s called double voice and he makes it by forcing his voice to intentionally crack. he usually cracks between falsetto and mixed voice i believe.
You need to listen to "Stitch" "Feels Like Nothing" You will loose your mind with his burp technique, and his polyphonic voices. It is even more insane than anything by ShoGo.
@@shara7715 singers know the concept of double/polyphonic voices. The 626 will just be very impressive
Everybody is great I would not deem myself worthy of saying who is better, But yeah good suggestion 😀
I hope the beatbox community doesn't make you feel pressured by so many reaction recommendations, just a very passionate community that loves spreading the love! Great stuff man
Thank you for watching SHOW-GO's video. I think he is a genius. I love him.
Other recommended many Japanese singer→King Gnu ; "白日 hakujitsu" "三文小説 sanmonshousetsu" , Ado ; "Odo" "Gira Gira" etc…
I'm sure you will be interested in their voice. ・・・ for you as a vocal coach.
FINALLY !! A voice coach reacting to beatbox, great surprise :D Bless you Ken !
I can see others requesting this but you should absolutely watch "Stitch - feels like nothing" Its only 2 mins and will blow you away! He has his own technique (which despite him making tutorials, every other beatboxer struggles to do) A way of exhaling and engaging vocal chords to sound exactly like a synth!! He also has taken polyphonic singing to the next level of any other beatboxer
The flip you talked about is done with only vocals, there is a tutorial in show-go channel explaining how it's done.
If you are more interested in beatboxing I SUGGEST YOU TO REACT TO "GBB Wildcard winners 2021" AND "GBB Wildcard winners 2020" AND "GBB 2019 solo top 10 drops".
It would be very interesting to see a vocalist point of view of theses suggestions and i assure you will be blown away.
I've been dying to get "MB14 La Cup Worldwide Showcase 2018" into the hands of a vocal coach. MB14 is an incredible beatboxer and a runner up on "The Voice" in France. In this video he uses a loopstation to loop his beatboxing and singing techniques into a full track. I think you'd really enjoy it.
Seeing someone reacting to something „outside his bubble“ with an open mind and heart, allowing themselves to enjoy it and appreciate the different approaches people can have on the same things, is giving me a pleasant feeling in my soul, thank you for that.
As how limited my knowledge about beatbox is, i can tell you that the sound doesnt only come from the throat, there are several sound that are made exclusively by the vibration of the lips, sometimes inhaling too.
So thats why it may seem so difficult to understand where the breathing is and how it affects the routine.
Have a nice day!
Yeah! there is inward sounds that helps to breath, like inward snare or lip roll
Im utterly gobsmacked by his pitch control during his performance... It's just magic, he's a vocal magician imho.
this is making me so happy lol. Im really glad you love this, welcome to the bbx family haha. It is a rabbit hole that never ends :)
I'm so glad you've finally stumbled onto Beatbox. I've always wondered how current teachers would accept beatboxing now that it has become more refined than a few clicks and lip rolls.
his double voice is the best in the world
Yes sir!!! Please go for the 2021 gbb wildcards winners next !!!
You’ll be blown away !!
The beatbox world is so dope.
That's actually a variation of double(polyphonic)sound found by him. The 'flip' is his voice changing from the head voice to a higher falsetto-ish voice.
YESSSSS!!!! you are getting into beatboxing reactions!
Mts-INSANE VOCAL BASS, YOU WON'T BELIEVE WGAT YOU HEAR, HIS VIBRATION BASS IS INSANE
Mad respect for your self awareness of ignorance on the subject as well as the very very high understanding of how extremely impressive this really is. Dope response Ken!!
I love how happy and excited you are! 💙
Wow wow, wow!!!!! Absolutly Great performance jajaja.
Greetings from Monterrey Nuevo León, México .
You have walked into a whole new world
As for the extended techniques:
-you nailed the vocal flips, it's kinda like a sideways yodel just you are flipping to the same note on one that's close, not an octave
- the deep bass was done with the tongue. It's basically a closed mouth non vocalized tongue roll
-percussion is mostly breathing out but some snares and hit hats are done inwards which allows for no interruptions
-the "almost double voice" thing you caught is actually a vocalized uvula trill, the uvula creates a second pitch
-Most percussion are plosives. Phonemes like P, B, K, T, Pf, and G are accentuated to create pops similar to drums
I love the technical side of beatbox and I wouldn't mind making a quick ten min vid to quickly show some of this
i dont think show-go's deep bass is just a tongue roll. there is deffo some growl in there too.
@@onionman9563 well yeah, you are right. But that's a bit of info overload for a singer who just discovered beatbox hahah Esh!
@@thepoofster2251 no you were correct, the bass he makes is by rolling your tongue against the roof of your mouth with your mouth closed and keeping the air in
Yesss!!! Thank you for this reaction! Would love to see more! 🙌🏻🙏🏻💪🏼
Vocal coaches reacting to beatbox is always super interesting!
That thing in the begining that you liked is him rolling his tongue and singing in falsetto at the same time
Damn there’s a lot of beatbox stuff that u have yet to watch man, this kind of art is beautiful and crazy.
This was nice to watch
That vocal flip yodel you were talking about is called double voice and its his sound, we call it show-go double voice and its made by switching from head voice to falsetto voice in quick succession
That is some incredible talent. Wow!
SHO-GO uses a "voice crack" to crack the vocal and jump higher it's a style of dubble voice
so sensitive smooth and beautiful! He is special! He is just talented so artistic and legend ❣️
The bassline you were talking about is called a vocal bass or starskey bass and its made by moving your uvula and combining your voice and the result is that bass line and then he would use a falsetto voice and close his mouth
do more videos of beatbox, is a first video i see from you and i love it
Love your react and details
Don’t know why I’m not subscribed to this guy. One of my fav content reactors/creators
He inhales on his kicks and other sounds I've been beatboxing for some time. And this amazed me
Show-go has a lot amazing work on his channel, you should check it out!
Nice throat bass and the snare then the drop is sick
Welcome to the beatbox community sir😃...heartly welcome...keep reacting 💛
Great reaction!
Thank you so much for making these videos and really appreciating this artform. These guys are incredible and deserve all the respect as with any artist or musician. ✊🏽🔥
this is his own technique named double voice of Show-Go
Show-go is so great!
This is the kind of content I would like to see you do more of.
You are just warming up for greatness
man you are so down to earth I love it
You need to listen to Gene shinozakis 2021 gbb wildcard, he has amazing vocal runs
The vocal Flip is his special sound. And its so fucking genious he is using is head voice and his chestvoice and Times the transition perfectly to create this genious sound
You should react to more showgo videos
Lol this guy is so wholesome
He's gonna get sucked into the beatbox rabbit hole so fast
so intresting how you went in slowmotion to check on his inward & outward breathing. Loved it
Show-Go's "Like falling Star" is also great :)
What is this. And why do I like it so much lol
In case it's a sincere question. Beatboxing basically started as a way to emulate drums with the human voice. Has since been experimented on to emulate pretty much any instrument (and other sounds). Great beatboxers are able to sing on top of their "music". I can recommend you to check out loopstation battles where they get to record layers of sound and don't have to perform them all at the same time, making it easier to create even more elaborate things and with more accuracy :)
SHOW-GOは日本の宝。
show go's double voice is insane
I really hope you keep reacting to more beatbox videos
welcome!
Love ur reaction its not like other vocal coatches and pleas keep pushing the bbx szene 👍
4:52 I’ve yet to see anyone slow down a beatbox video down to analyze technique like this. Kudos to you, sir! Love the content. Welcome to the wonderful world of beatbox!
He now has entered the beatbox world :D
Some of these beatboxers are making up techniques that didn't exist in any formal way. Some even got to name some of the tricks. It goes over my head entirely.
Geoff Castellucci does his subharmonics undertones. That sound incredible both with and without amplification or effects.
Avi Kaplan did the opposite by singing one of the lion king songs in 6th and 7th octave overtone whistles while maintaining a bass note simultaneously.
I recently heard inhale bass notes people are doing and it sounds exactly what i expect satan to sound like.
They are reaching the limits of the voice in a sense but it's not a linear scale that you can gauge like a chart or graph.
It's imagination and mixing all these things into something new and that in a sense has probably limitless combinations and possibilities to blow minds.
Mate you should watch "Stitch - feels like nothing" Its only 2 mins and will blow you away. He has his own technique (which despite him making tutorials, every other beatboxer struggles to do) A way of exhaling and engaging vocal chords to sound exactly like a synth!! (also can sing in polyphonic voice with two distinct tones at the same time)
@@360Effects Checked him out thanks. It's one of those things that exist that i have to ease my way in or I'll get a stroke.
Seemingly unlimited variations of sounds coming from so few inputs like the human voice as compared to a most musical instruments. Two cords and human ingenuity makes that happen.
The polyphonic technique you meantioned sounds like what i described Avi doing. If you haven't heard it yet look up Avi overtones. I think it's the same thing but different terminology.
@@obe22099 saw Avi doing that live! Was (and still am) a massive pentaholic way before I got into the beatboxing stuff! :D
I can't imagine his reaction on Vocodah's inward bass😂
Yesss please more beatbox stuff
This dude is amazing, seriously. Please do more beatbox reactions! Tom Thum, Beardyman, etc.
Keep it going pls❤💥
Friend, i like your reaction. You are so shiny and kind) more beatbox reactions pls. ty
the bass he was using that you enjoy so much is called tongue bass, he makes it with a click roll, similar to when you roll your rs.
He killed that
in beatboxing there are different types of sounds but every sound has a lot of different variations for example:
The kick (basically pushing air out of your mouth) has also an inward variation (it's a hollow liproll cut right after the start) and a variation that doesnt require air (made with the troath).
The hihat (letter T) has also variations, for example the click (clicking your tongue on the roof of your mouth).
The snares are all different from eachother there is the "PF" snare, the "BMG/spit" snare, the "K" snare, the "inward K" snare and every day a new snare comes out.
The bass are also like the snares, there are a lot of different one, the most popular ones are: troath bass (see Codfish, he uses it a lot and it's super clean), the inward bass (i like the Dlow's one, but it's very popular and has a lot of variations), the liproll (Napom it's known for that, but everyone uses it so you can tell if it's liproll if someone it's inspiring air on the side of his mouth), the lip oscillation (used also by ShoGo in the drop that u slowed down, I love Gene's one) and exists a lot of different sound that are whistles or vocal tecniques, but are so many that i should write a book to name all of them.
Ps: I surely forgot something but i named only the most popular sounds and basic ones. Also apologise my english, it's not my first language, i may have done a lot of mistakes, hope you can still undersand my comment.
u just earned my subscription
Love from indonesia keep it up ❤️❤️
The bass is called starsky bass. Using head voice lip synth(the electronic sound) and an uvular vibration. The flip is called double voice and it's falsetto to head voice.
This vocal flick is a switch between mixed voice and head voice. He is just using the switch of those to pitches to create the sound. :)
mb14 la cup plsss
he is French voice finals
that was so trippy on half speed. now addicted to watching beatboxers at 0.5 speed
Beatbox is magic✨
Welcome to the Beatbox Family
"Codfish Broken Dreams" Pleaseee🙏🙏🙏
5:31 he's combining falsetto vocalization with lip oscillation. How he's swapping between the higher and lower tones of it is, the higher is a regular lip hum as a note (the same note) matching the vocalization, and the lower oscillation he is using the oscillation but hollowing the throat, which is why the lip "buzzing" sounds lower, lower frequent rolls. Hollowing the throat is how you get a lot of these low sounding noises, like low lip-rolls, tongue-clicks, throat bass, etc. I think the first sound you asked about it a hollowed outward OD bass but i could be wrong, but i know he's doing a outward tongue roll with hallowed throat.
that vocal clip is called a double voice technique
show-go / somehow beatbox
cover is masterpiece!!!
I can explain some of the techniques he is using.
At 02:30 when you talk about his bass, that is called vocal bass. It doesn't uttalize vochal chords like most do but rather you roll the back of the tongue, as a german would for an r, but you vocalize it with a high Falsetto Voice usually. It is a really smooth bass and easy to learn (especially if you come from a country that says the r similarly to germans). Also that technique is not inhaling it is actually exhaling.
At 03:04 he is doing a technique called "double voice". He is basically the master of this technique and has the cleanest double voice there is out there probably. You create that clear cut between the two voices by going from your falsetto voice to your normal voice, and shortening the span. It is a really advanced technique and hard to master, as you have to get the exact jump from one voice to another.
I hope i was able to explain some of the techniques in this video.
If you want recommendations, as many have already said, i would suggest watching some of Gene Shizokai, PWAD, bigman and so many more amazing beatboxers.
You will definitely be even more mind blown and speechless if you check out some more beatbox stuff ! 💯
There are plenty of good tutorials on how to make certain sounds on youtube. I personally love the explanation Indicator gives for his "Alienbass", very knowledgable guy. It's also very fun to see peoples reaction to beatbox who haven't really been exposed to it before :) Keep up the good work :)
I am a beat boxer, have been practicing for just over 10 years now. Show-go’s special technique is his “double voice”. You refer to it as a yodel in the video, which is a very similar technique.
He breathes in every (tch) sound you hear, it is very common to disguise breathing with “inward” beatbox techniques. They are short breaths that are used almost as often as a kick sound in most beatboxers. I use an inward “k” snare to breath most frequently.
What Show go does here is use an oscillation to turn his double voice into a pitch controlled synth. I can’t tell if he is using his tongue to make a “click roll” for his base, or if it is his vocal cords similar to Mongolian throat singing. I use both in my style, and he might be doing both at the same time.
Hope this helps with your understanding of the techniques he is using. If you are interested in the science of beatboxing, check out Reeps One. He is considered the grandmaster of beatbox, and has gone to Oxford, Harvard and other scientific institutions to demonstrate/ test his vocal capabilities. There is a docuseries on UA-cam of his that goes into more detail.
Double bass that SHOW GO use
