You're 100% right on spot. I was already working here in the states when I met my husband. We dated for almost 10 months and he decided to propose his intention to marry me. I told him to call my father first in the Philippines and ask for my hand. If my father says no, then I won't marry him. Boy, was he nervous but he did. He spoke with my father i don't remember how long, he was sweating like crazy. When my father said yes, 2 months later we got married. My father died 2009, even on his deathbed he never fails to tell me that my husband was his favorite son in law.
I came overseas to meet my future wife only. She was very impressed that there wasn't a list of filapinas. Really that just never occurred to me but I guess some guys come over here to "interview" many filipinas without any committment. We wrote and talked on Yahoo for a year and I came here for her only. Big brownie points. We're married 9 years.

The PI courting ritual is not different from the courting ritual here in America decades ago. My father phoned my wife's father and asked for his blessings for the engagement to proceed. My wife had never been kissed or dated at 28 years of age. She is from Mexico and I am a Chicano. I used the techniques you have stated to win her heart. We have been married now for 39 happy years. We are now retired and are together almost 24/7. No friction and we enjoy each others company. We do not need time alone. We follow our Lord Jesus and we know all we have is by God. Love and respect the family, absolutely. Even providing a little financial assistance to the parents is ok. But the problem is when the expectation of financial 'help' starts coming from other family members ... sibings, their spouses, children, and other extended family. The comparisons with their neighbor's foreigner husband starts, and how much can one say 'no'? As they say, when you marry a Filipina, you marry her family, and extended family.

I think culture was the toughest thing. You can respect the culture but sometimes compromise is all you can do. Especially, as in our case, Anna's Ate ( oldest sister) is a total you know what from hell. Total sense of entitlement. Not what we are taught here. I am the oldest in my family and was taught to have respect you must give respect. So teaching Anna about that concept was very tricky but we have gotten through it. Thanks for the video. Oh, also you might want to do a video about annulment at some point. Lot of guys run in to this I speak from personal experience.

Being married to a filipina for over 20 years the one thing that gets me is the "respect my culture", its a street that goes both ways. Philippine culture always seems to over rule my culture seeing that it does not even get any consideration. The filipina is always right and to go against that means the PINAY STARE followed by days of silence. ;-) JUST SAYING IMHE

I've been texting and skyping with a Filipina lady for about 6 mos. I'm 66 and she's 35, she will be coming to the states on a tourist visa, while she's here if do decide to get married is that an issue with immigration and how can she get green card etc.?
John Spooner if you two get married while she is here on a tourist visa ( if she can even get one ) you will be committing a crime against immigration...there's a lot more to getting married there is a whole big process. You can marry her & live abroad the US doesn't care about that but they do care if you marry her without completing all the checks & interviews

On the other hand my neighbor married one he lived in the Philippines for 13 years he’s a white American he poured his heart and soul for this Beautiful lady sadly she had other plans she married another guy as soon she arrived to the states she disappeared with her Filipino boyfriend. So be careful.
@@glenkylie5130 I'm fine but not married to Filipina, matter of fact, I just ended a 2.5 year courtship with the one I thought was the one I was going to marry. I love her family, friends, cousins, nephews n niece's. I did everything correctly but after that much time, she just couldn't make time for me anymore.
