I love my 2022 228i. It’s the perfect car for me! Now that my kids are grown and drive themselves, I was able to downsize and get a vehicle to call my own ☺️
@@zeusd54 it’s been fantastic! Enough trunk space for my needs great on fuel too. If I had to choose something…I wish it had more storage inside. No cubby space, just under the armrest and sides of door and glovebox. My sons are older…so if we do go somewhere, it’s cramped in the back. But like I said, it’s my car and don’t have plans to get anything for quite a while 😊.
Great review. I have a 2021 228i xDrive in the same Grey metallic as the one you tested. She’s beautiful, powerful, handles amazingly well, and is a smooth drive. I’m smitten. Great car!!
I bought a 2021 before chip shortage. I have heads up display & hands free trunk release (where you kick your foot under trunk for it to release). I thought only SUV's were big with this, but to have it on a car this size, I was thrilled. Works great when your hands are full & you can't get to your fob. My color is similar to your model, but mine is called Storm Bay Metallic, beautiful. Gray with blue metallic chips in paint. Get compliments all the time. But a $1200 option. Well worth it though. Distinctive & more unusual color. Over all, I am VERY happy with my purchase. Much fun to drive too!!
I drove a 228i as a loaner once. It is a great little car, but the interior feels a little plasticky and cheap compared to the 3 series. Fun Fact: one reason the stereo system is so powerful is BMW designed and uses it to pump authentic sounding fake engine growl noises into the cabin. On my 440i, I used an OBD device to go into the computer and turn that function off. The cabin is now much more quiet.
I love this car it was either this or a 2023 3 series.Honestly I’m a very small person and I tend to feel uncomfortable driving larger or vehicles that have a lot of power. This is more for a relaxed nice feel. Every car is made for a certain specific group of people. If you like it and it’s your style get it. If you don’t then that’s because it’s not in your style. It has lots of features and the price really isn’t bad. Also any car doesn’t matter what brand loses value. The only cars that don’t are the ones in high demand and the ones who are hard to find.
Excellent review. I have a 2022 M240i on order. Its been a challenge with the supply issues. Delayed til June production now. Features such a ACC have been dropped and wireless charging, that was standard, is now a $500 option. Darn chip shortage.
@@Beck248 Thanks, but never got it. Backed out on the order. To date, still has not been produced and more options were dropping off. On to something else.
Over-priced. You'll never find one in at any level below the price of $40K. Even for the FWD version. The paddle shifters are not included unless you opt for the M-sport package, or actually getting the M228i. If you're into it, the MINI Clubman, or even the Countryman, are a better deal, and this 228 is literally based off the MINI. Same engine, same platform, basically the same suspension, with more useable space, and a more reasonable price tag.
Got one as a loaner in Florida. Absolutely garbage build. Tons of road noise, clunky trans, and plastic galore. This isn’t a BMW, just an upbadged Civic.

How’s the maintenance on it? Anything major?
@@3rd_iimpact Nothing yet, about to get its first oil change in about 1000 miles. It’s handled like a dream so far.

That hands-free trunk release is finicky.
@@cpl8168 for sure!!
It was 34 k and now 45k in 2020 and 2023. Covid led to shortages and companies shooting up prices to make up for lost sales value.

Love the fact that you do the sound system!!
this car is so much better then a countryman and jcw. it’s even safer despite being the same size has so much more safety features
Great review! I just got one 2 weeks ago with the M sport package in white with the red seats! Love it 👍

This is going to be my first car thank you for the video.

GREAT REVIEW
Did they discontinue this model after 2022?
I kinda wanna buy this for my first car but I heard that bmws don’t have good maintenance is this a good first car?
They have slightly more expensive maintenance buts it's much more frequent and necessary to maintain.
Great review Gold Pony ! This car is based on the Mini , I would consider buying the 3 series but this is not bad for a entry-level BMW .
Great review but how on earth did you get the rear seats down? I haven’t figured that out yet
Buying European doesn’t make you one
Good review. 👍🏼
Guys! Help me! I’m getting this car but the insurance scares me. They all give really high quotes. Any recommendations for insurance companies?
I pay $140 a month through progressive. Have you been quoted lower than that? If so what companies please?
Thanks for sharing. Greatly appreciate it.
I hope they make a M2 Gran Coupe
Always stay for the "stay goooold" 😁
Haha appreciate it! 😁

@japanwatchconnection The MINI JCW's fun factor is higher than either the VWs, and if you're opting for the auto, they're better than VW's aging DSG.
Leslie Jordan would not agree!

Go heels!
👏👏👏👏👏
The front looks so much like a blend of a 2012 Hyundai Elantra and a 2019 Kia Forte. BMW has lost its distinctive BMW style.
go back to school
I have a 2021 In my opinion the back end is ugly looking. And driver seat is not very comfortable.
comfort matters.
Did you get leather seats?
Wtf it's hella ugly🤣🤣🤣 what the hell happened
