As a Rams fan, this a bittersweet moment. Its sad to see our best player retire, but it was a honor to see Aaron Donald inflict fear into the hearts of quarterbacks.

As a 49ers fan, I won’t miss him destroying our O-line for the past 10 years. It was exciting to see him play us twice a year. I hope the best for him and his retirement.

I'm going to miss watching him get shut down by a backup every time they came to GB.
He may have been dominant vs other teams but I can't think of a more overhyped player in the last decade based on what I witnessed live.

@@libidinousbear4563it’s crazy how overlooked Fletcher Cox gets because he just went about his business. There was definitely a time when he was the most dominant DT in the NFL instead of Aaron Donald. Cox just didn’t dominate as long as Donald did. So career wise Donald had the better career. But in his prime. Fletched Cox was a force as well and was still more than solid at the end.

I think everyone hoped he would have 1 more. Because everything was somewhat coming together for the Rams after last season.
Yeah but almost no one makes that decision years ahead of time. They always make the decision in the moment based on where they are in their career, their accomplishments, their level of production and state of their health. Maybe it’s possible Aaron Donald truly made that definitive decision a few years back that he would 100% retire after the 2023 season, but I find that extremely hard to believe.
Don’t be surprised if he misses the game and comes back in a year or 2. Not saying it will happen. But it absolutely could as the biggest catalyst for guys retiring is a precipitous drop off in production or chronic injuries. Neither of which apply to him.

It's a bittersweet day for us Rams fans. He is one of the pillars of our team and has been a constant since the Rams came back to LA. Losing him is such a big loss to this team and this region. But also, I'm happy he gets to retire on his terms and at the top of his game. Retire his number and give him a statue. Thanks for all the good times Aaron!

This actually isn't shocking after Luke kuechly I don't expect for these top defensive players to play more than 10-12 years. They got these top defensive players making over 100 million dollars. And after the super bowl he was talking about it so I knew it was only a matter of time before he hung up the cleats

Ram fan here; this hurts, even though it was obvious he had been flirting with retiring for a while. Instant Hall of Famer, Jersey retirement, statue; all of it. To say he earned it is a massive understatement. Watching him terrorize QB’s and offenses was an absolute privilege to watch. I’ll never forget him chasing down Jimmy G and ruining the Niners Super Bowl dreams (Suck it Niners 😜) and then chasing down Joe Burrow during the Super Bowl and getting his ring. There’s only one true AD in LA, and he played for the Rams. Enjoy retirement 99; can’t wait to see you in Canton.
