As an Attack Wing player from the beginning I've been burned by WizKids so many times. But Alex Davy! Maybe he's like the philosopher's stone of game developers. So I might just get this... I assume the full game will have a ton more maps, missions, and whatnot?
Thanks for your always great reviews. I was on the fence about this game for a number of reasons, but after watching this video I will probably pick it up. Especially since my FLGS has a starter at about 46% off, plus I recently started getting another skirmish/dungeon craw game where at least the miniatures could be used.
I really like the mechanics - those character cards are neat. The time down mechanic on abilities is a cool addition. A couple of things I'm a little less sold on.. setting it in the Forgotten Realms. Would have Eberron, but you could also make a case for Spelljammer, which is coming out. Having different crews of ships battling each other would be cool. I certainly hope that the game expands to have epic encounters where not only do you have to fight another party, but you have something like a Beholder that you have to defeat. Clear bases are the best bases, especially if you have lots of cool terrain.
I find this hilarious as the reason a lot of people hated 4e was the fact that abilities had cooldowns and felt video gamey. Yet, here is a 5e product and we are back to cool downs.
I don’t normally buy D&D board games though I play lots of D&D, mostly because I think board games defeat the point, but I do like the pre-painted minis so….
although the painted mini are really really nice and not the norm in the industry, I would of liked more variety in the maps, maybe a tile system instead of a board to randomize the battle field. I can see that the tactics will propably be very predictable after a few games on each board. also, agree with the character boards come fully assembled is nice too, unlike most thing now a days.. Fantasy Flight.. yep..
I really like the concept but feel for how complex it looked once you sit down and play it's still a little to simple. I really liked the original dnd Miniatures game and feel this did not quite hit that level
I have a question...instead of buying the full board game which cost $140, can a friend and i but two expansions and play a skrimish match with the 100s of maps i already have?
The core game is going to have mostly what you need. The expansions don't have the five required characters, so you'd need a core set. Plus the loot cards and all the rest of the game rules. You could still create your own scenarios with the maps you have though!
Really like the individual cards with the dials. Like that you can use old battlemaps from older releases. Not a fan of also fighting another party. Is artwork on cards final or are they just placeholders since you have a preview kit? If they are final versions, not a fan of non-existent art. Do you have suggested MSRP?
It's one faction vs Another Faction - and while you can have a teammate go up against another team, I think it works best when a single player is fielding both characters on a faction vs the other side.
@@Crabbok I still have a huge pile of d&d chainmail miniature game metals that I have never painted. Also huge amount of kings of war vanguard plus tons of other skirmish sized fantasy stuff. More likely to do some mini agnostic fantasy skirmish game (thinking 5 leagues once it is available for less than full retail)
Watching the full video seems like a pass. Keeping track of all those dials for the cool downs is going to cause problems. Seems like it would have been better to have a multi option recovery action (free, standard, move, free+move, etc) in the action economy to balance the powers. Wound dial also seems like a waste to just create a wounded threshold state that affects 1 or 2 stats.
I will play anything Alex Davy is involved in, he's the best game designer ever
Can't wait for this. Already another use for warlock tiles.

I did not know Alex was working on this that makes me very keen to check it out.
Love Alex Davy! Definitely looks interesting, would love to try it

Man awesome you got the chance to have a preview I am looking forward to this game!

Thanks for covering this, really interested in checking out this game when it is released
Looking forward to this game coming out!!
Been watching you for eons, quietly. Keep up the good work.
Reminds me of the old Clicky Mage Knight game
This seems pretty neat I'm a new follower to you and love to content.
Love those games where you can level up your character and improve them while you play the game
Reminds me of the 3.5 skirmish game that was basically just monster stat block v monster stat block
This looks cool 👍
This game looks insane. Definitely going to check it out!
thanks you explain well and speak clear english so i can understand! :D i want this game so baddly
Interesting.. I wonder how many characters there will be when the game releases, core set plus extra packs.
I'll hold off... was burned once a few years ago when WoTC canned the D&D Skirmish Miniatures. Many folks like us plowed much hard-earned $$ on it.
Its kinda a D&D version of Conan by monolith ... looks good.
The game seems fun, I'll have to keep an eye on it to see how it pans out. Thanks for the demo 😁
Only 3 things are certain in life... death, taxes and Crabbok giving away light sabres.
This is exciting! I'm very curious in getting this
I might give this a go.
Im super excited for D&D Onslaught!
Looks very cool
Looks fun. I'll definitely get it, but honestly disappointed the minis are pre-painted.
hope this can be played by more than two players
Looks like fun! I would try it
I have high hopes for this game.
looks fun
I was wondering what Jeff Goldblum has been up to.

The character cards seem quite small, with not many spots to grab them without accidentally turning a dial. Or are your hands just big? :D

I'm not sure this isn't just 4e: Reloaded
Looks pretty nifty.
so its GWs Underworlds then?
Seems a lot like heroclix (or mage knight if you played that) married to descent. I'll give it a shot but not super excited about it.

130 dollars
When will this game be released?
Is it one faction per player or can you each have a character in the D&D flavor?
It's one faction vs Another Faction - and while you can have a teammate go up against another team, I think it works best when a single player is fielding both characters on a faction vs the other side.
@@Crabbok awesome. Thanks. As I watched more of the video my question was answered by your play through. Looks fun.
Follow up this is almost a league of legends meets dnd minatures game,
Price point for this seemed pretty high.
True. Hopefully this preview will take some of the guess work out of purchasing decisions. I think the gameplay here is pretty solid and enjoyable.

You can change minis easier than rules so this game replaces everything similar made by GW.
Game itself looks cool but it being Wizkids and their generally poor quality components and love of loot boxes has me apprehensive.
$150 for a pretty mediocre skirmish game? Not a chance!
second
first lol
