- One of the most politically divisive issues in this election season is migration.
Tens of thousands of people have died trying to reach the EU, making perilous journeys across the Mediterranean Sea. The UN says, more than 3,000 migrants died in 2023 as they attempted to reach European shores. This marks the highest death toll on this route since 2017.
The EU has been struggling to deal with migrants, and refugees seeking protection or searching for a better life, and the topic has become a major campaigning issue.

Why is the host introducing the topic of migration by calling out how many have died on their attempts? No one person in Europe is guilty of those deaths.

Issues like terrorism or major conflicts affect everyone.

@@SoWhat59 They had 2 guest speakers in this piece. 1st from amnesty international and 2nd from specialist who commented more on political effect of the pact. To have balanced discussion they should speak to someone from communities negatively affected by immigration or at least some right wing politician.

Wages and taxes in many developing countries are kept low due to IMF debt agreements, western engineered coups, tax havens and low wages and income tax rates.
Migration is caused by wealthy countries and more specifically wealthy people and corporations.
