    2. How can it be permitted to fly an overlay approach enheter the underlying NAVAID is out of service? You must still use it for FAS? Ref 8:56 in the video

      Yes, maybe it could have been phrased better. But I mean the situation where the ILS procedure is NDB based (which is very common). Under Part NCO, that can now be flown without an ADF, but obviously not without ILS. An NDB approach is not permitted without an ADF, because of the FAS.

      @@TimothyNathanPPL-IR , great that clarified it and also deepened the understanding. That means I can fly the ILS RWY33 at ESGT under regulatory compliance with PG out-of-service, using the GNSS PG as locator. P.S. Joined PPL/IR by the way!

      @@flyga100 Delighted to welcome you to PPL/IR.
      There seems to be only one procedure in the ESGT ILS 33 overlay, I assume the Cat C, so it will take you a minute longer.
