What a beautiful tribute to the movie you paid with your review, man... Great video. Thumbs up! Let’s cheer for Fernanda ’cause she’s not only a great actress: she’s a gentle, kind, liberal, open minded and charming human being who deserves it so much.
Thank you for the video. This film not only tells the story of a devastated country, but of an entire continent devastated by the military dictatorship. Recovering memory is urgent, especially in times like these. In addition to Fernanda Montenegro and Fernanda Torres, who are brilliant, we have many other actresses and actors, directors and incredible films to share with the world. Brazil is a beautiful country, but also very complex. And it is great to see it being portrayed so impeccably as in I'm Still Here. I hope these statuettes come our way! Congratulations on your work and a kiss from Brazil! 🥲😘
thank you for the care, respect and research you put into this video, we are really passionate about it and it's been amazing to see people finally giving our cinema and actresses the attetion they deserve!
OK, your review made me cry! Thank you so much for understanding and explaining so well why we are so passionate about this film! The entire country stopped on nomination day to watch and root for the International Feature and Best Leading Actress nominations. But we never even dreamed it would be nominated for Best Picture. When it happened, we knew that many more people would watch the film because of this, and that's amazing! The crimes committed during the military dictatorship remain unresolved. The military officers accused of these crimes have never been brought to justice. In 2016, Ex President Dilma Rousseff suffered an unfair impeachment. During the vote, ex president Jair Bolsonaro, who was a congressman at the time, declared his vote by saying: 'In memory of Colonel Carlos Alberto Brilhante Ustra, the terror of Dilma Rousseff, for the army of Caxias, for the Armed Forces, for Brazil above all, and for God above all, my vote is yes.'. Brilhante Ustra was one of Dilma Rousseff's torturers. During her time as president, she established the Truth Commission, which was responsible for investigating the crimes committed during the dictatorship. This colonel was one of the most brutal torturers and, by the way, was one of the commanders of DOI-CODI, the military prison where Rubens, Eunice, and their daughter were taken. Now, the world is learning a little more about the horrors that took place during this dark period of our history. Thank you so much for helping spread the word!
The best review of I'm Still Here that I’ve seen so far. You perfectly highlighted the greatness of the film’s story and Fernanda Torres’ outstanding performance. The ice cream shop scene you mentioned… it’s impossible not to get emotional. No dialogue, no exaggerated expressions, yet such a profound depth of feeling. We just wish more and more people would watch this film. Thank you so much for the review. 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Duuude, it even sound like a Brazillian talking about the movie and Fernanda. Its the same love. Haah ❤ come to brasil! We really love the movie and the Paiva family. Milleniun and gen X grew up reading Marcelo Rubens Paiva, and yes, we are very happy for the family to reach this level of recognicion. They deserve it
Fernanda Torres is an incredible and wonderful actress. She is the soul of the film I'm Still Here, which is right in opting for the protagonist's restraint, in everyday tragedy less is more, at a time when everything is spectacular and estrionic. Silence to understand the nuances.
Fernanda Torres delivers an extraordinary performance in I’m Still Here, demonstrating her mastery of nuance, depth, and emotional intensity. With every scene, she captivates the audience, balancing raw vulnerability with a quiet strength that lingers long after the credits roll. Her ability to convey complex emotions with subtle expressions and precise timing is a testament to her artistic maturity and deep understanding of the craft. What makes her portrayal truly remarkable is the authenticity she brings to the role-every gesture, every silence, every glance feels deeply lived-in, as if she is not merely performing but embodying the very essence of the character. This level of commitment transforms the film into an immersive experience, making it impossible to look away. Her Golden Globe recognition is well deserved, not just as an acknowledgment of this singular performance but as a celebration of a career defined by excellence, fearlessness, and an unwavering dedication to storytelling. Hats off to Fernanda Torres. Amazing performance 👏👏👏👏👏👏 Congrats Brazil for this masterpiece 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
As you said I'm still here have already made history, it is the first south American film for best picture, and over there milion people watched the movie just in Brazil. I feel like despite the winners, and the Emilia Perez situation, I'm stil here is one of the favourites to stand the test of time, a film to be remembered for quite some editions in the near Future.(Im a Brazilian... And historian... My view is most likely clouded by those factors, but anyway that's how I currently feel about the movie)
I felt the same as he felt. I felt they were close friends of mine all the time. I even found myself praying for them in a moment...then I realized it was a movie theater and not there with them. In another time, I also went their house somehow. When her daughter filmed herself with triends in London. Wow, they crossed Abbey Road just like I did when I was there in the same year:1970. The family got together to watch her filme, and they clapped their hands at the end...And so did I! OMG. I got angry when he got angry, I could feel their feelings, I became a friend of them all. It was amazintg.

'I´m still here" have a political, social and historic relevance for Brazil..... and the film have a Brazilian director, producers, actors and almost all crew, writters, based on an important book by a Brazilian, shot in authentic Brazil really placed in Brazil, and almost everyone love the film...... Just like E.perez
Great review. Given how the world has been going lately, the film is a powerful tool to show and remind us of how authoritarian governments, which are on the rise globally, can destroy their own population. By the way, the cover you showed, 'Aún estoy aquí,' is in Spanish. In Portuguese, the movie's title is 'Ainda estou aqui'.
Maybe you don't know but on January 8, 2023 we suffered an attempted coup d'état. This film is important to us for many reasons, but one of the main ones is to keep the memory of this recent, dark past alive. The film may not even win the Oscar but we already won just because younger people are going to the cinema and understanding why it is so important to fight for democracy. Thank you for the wonderful video.
Is important people to know that the military coup in Brazil was created, planned and financed by US, so winning the most popular US prize talking about the history of what US did not only in Brazil but in many other countries would also be poetic. I'm brazilian and I know many movies that could win oscars that were snob by the Academy, same in many other countries, same way I know there are a lot of talented actually mexican actors in Mexico that could be in Emilia Pérez, and better writers too... the word is changing and this type of eurocentric and murican centric way to see media is not accepted anymore.
Its not that Fernanda Montenegro would've won the Oscars over kate blanchet or over the others, but she definitely was better than paltrow at that time. And i have to say: there are mamy other brazilian actressrs as great as fernanda Montenegro and torres, from both generations.
Your review is so delicated and on point. Congratulations for this amazing content.
