Perfect comment Lady Hawk...especially the risk the eagles take to gather their food from the roadways. I hate that they and other birds of prey do that, putting their lives at such great risk.
The eagles near me lost the papa eagle when he went to get roadkill. He was hit by a car. :( A lady called 911 held him until he died. And just like that, he was sent to the rendering place in Colorado. Then Native Americans can bid on the parts. It's sad but it is the Circle of Life!
Looks like a roadkill. Only part of the body. Just watch live right now and still there. Feel bad for everyone that loves cats, but when your cats brings you little birds, bunnies or mouse to eat, it's the same.
It was a roadkill... Dear beloved cat, also for you, there is life after life. (Raymond Moody) If mouse, if rat, if squirrel, if rabbit, if cat, if fish, if bird.... where is the difference? In our understanding. Good Harriet brought in a prey. M15 looked concerned, like: "I cannot eat it when so much people look at me."
@@elias3506 Cats are not native species. They’re environmental disasters to the native population of prey and predator species. Now I love cats, but when I see a feral one, it goes to a shelter. Cats don’t belong outside. Things like this happen way to often. Just follow a vet on instagram and you’ll see just how often cats come in dead on arrival like this. It’s heartbreaking, but we can stop the mass extinctions and heart crushing deaths if we just kept our kitty inside.
😢Im sad for the cat, especially if it was someone’s pet. This why they tell you to keep you cats inside or on a harness and leash just like your dogs. I’ve loved watching this pair raise their chicks. One time they had brought a whole fish to the nest that was still doing so flopping. The eagles need to eat and to feed their young. This all comes back to circle of life and the survival of the fittest. The cat eats the much smaller vermin and lizards who munch on all kinds of insects. And just think eagles and ospreys along with other hunting birds can help to keep down the ever growing feral cat problem. No, I’m not being cruel, I love cats and have had many growing up with most of them being inside/ outside pets. Most times they came home ,but sometimes the did not.
Nope it’s not click bait . They come back every year to this spot to raise their chicks. You should subscribe and start watching in December or January, It is amazing watching the chicks hatch and grow.
Exactly. Cats kill many birds. And some people have fish for pets, but no uproar when eagles eat fish. Fortunately, pets in the nest is a very rare occurrence. We prefer Stuffy the Squirrel.
I understand the sad reactions of many, but it should not be forgotten that raptors, like eagles here, help to avoid disease by eliminating already dead animals.
For many reasons. Including killing of species they just want to play with. Too many humans get cats (dogs & other species), play & love on them regularly as babies but then almost stop when they get older. They need multiple entertainment options, including views & sounds of nature. And as most do, they get bored with same thing over & over. Mix it up! The options today are mind boggling.
Yes, death is sad. Earth to earth, ashes to ashes, and dust to dust. All of us will go into feeding something else after we die. Even if we are cremated our ashes will will serve other life forms.
It’s not sad at all. Cats kill BILLIONS of birds every year. It’s so satisfying to see one get what it deserves. Turns out they’re called pussies because they only go after birds that won’t fight back 😂
Poor kitty? Tell this an Australia. Cats kills every year more than a billion birds. Really so sad? Are you nuts? Cats are most destructive creatures for other smaller animals. You should be happy, not sad.
@@trblcleft yeah not outside either. Not native, kills native animals, a unique type of predator that most small animals don't have naturally. Have a cat inside or don't have one.
@@Red-Tempest you clearly dont live on a farm where their are similar predators and depend on predators like cats to contain say........mice?Where I come from all dogs and cats live outdoors year round.
@@trblcleft most cats live in urban and suburban areas. So sure, in rural situations you do what you gotta do. But in non-rural settings where people do consider their cats a part of their family, people should really keep their cats indoors. Cats kill billions of wild animals each year, so the more they are inside, the better imo.
Not nearly as disturbing as the things your cat has done if you let it go outside, they’re a disaster for small wild animals and don’t belong out there, responsible pet owners keep them inside or on a leash on your backyard with a shock collar or something so they don’t leave that area.
A life is a life, no matter if it’s a cat, cow, chick, human. Unfortunately I understand, but I think we shouldn't have A and B rated animals. They don't make these distinctions, we always have to learn and these cams serve that too.
I live in SW FLA and have a small lake at the back of my house. I am constantly amazed (horrified!!) that people let their cats and small dogs wander around alone because of the ever present alligators and of course, traffic. I love cats and have had them all my life. So sad to think that this pretty kitty was killed but loving nature as well, have to appreciate that M & H take advantage of every opportunity to provide for their sweet family 💓🦅💓🦅💓
Let you cat play hunting games, you cat will win hunted prizes. My suburbian neighborhood in Pacific Northwest is full of eagles, hawks, & coyotes. Transplant neighbors with cats fur babies are constantly posting lost cat signs. Only if the eagles & hawks could leave a note on the signs.. ”Thanks for plumping him/her at night with rabits & birds. He/She was Yummy, please send more.”
Eagles are mostly scavengers. It's gross, but if you watch the video, it's only a small piece of the cat's body the eagle brought back. The head/neck and part of the leg attached. Cats are too large for an eagle to carry. An eagle can only carry about half its body weight and they only way at the largest 14 lbs. The average housecat is around 10lbs. Very unlikely the eagle hunted and killed the cat. Most likely it was dead on a road somewhere. The eagle comes down and fights off the crows/buzzards and brings back whatever is left.
@@LC-wv7tz Absolutely, probably road kill. It is my understanding that these eagles can fly easily with prey heavier than themselves. The problem is that if the first attack is deadly cats will put up one heck of a fight.

At least it didn’t have a collar on it. There are so many strays out there...it’s unreal. I agree, probably road kill, but to the eagles, just another meal
The cat is dead, roadkill, so it was hit by a car, or in other words, by humans! The eagles don’t distinguish between cat or rabbit or fish! I see it this way and I‘m saying this as a cat owner and a cat lover: since the cat has died (struck by a car) at least it’s food for some other animals! Please think about our factory farms, the way those animals have to suffer to be our food......this is even worse! And being food for the eagles is kind of the same as people who donor their lungs or heart or liver or other organs once dead, so they can give somebody else a new life!! We all (or most of us) appreciate such organ donors! Sure I’m happy it is not my cat, this is why I keep my cats in the house......I certainly feel with the owner of the cat because I personally know how it hurts to ‘lose’ a cat!! But it is definitely not the eagles fault, and neither Lady Hawk’s fault showing this video! Everybody is free to watch or not......
Hi Beatrice, I understand and admire - even envy - what you've posted, it demonstrates wonderful rationale and broad perspective. My belief that human-created *animal farms brutally objectifies the practice of breeding-animals-for-human consumption, when there are clear alternatives. We - humans - have a remarkable and tragic capacity to objectify, thereby eradicating the value, of our fellow creatures. *animal farms: yep, it's an intentional literary double entendre; also I find myself thinking about Shirley Jackson's story "The Lottery." Thank you for your post👍
I agree completely. There are/were some societies that intentionally put their dead out for the bodies to be “ritually” scavenged by nature. It might seem strange to most today, but to me it completely makes sense in regards to life’s cycle.
@@savedby_gracethrough_faith That is good to know; I'm assuming they cannot fly away with a full grown cat. Wild animals eat a better diet anyway; most cats eat low quality factory made food made mainly from grain and fillers.
If kitty even had an owner. And I’m not sure what would be worse, having closer or seeing the head of your beloved family member this way. It’s nature but it’s still hard to see when it’s personal. 😭
@@lemonfizzy4963 There is a video somewhere on YT of a GHO nest where one of the adults came sailing in with a tiny dog - looked like a little Maltese - complete with a sweater. I assume it must have been swiped from someone's yard. Now THAT I found upsetting as it was so obviously someone's loved pet that the owls killed. Feral cats? Not so much.
There's a stray cat in my building that's lived here for at least 6 years. We all love that cat but if it had to go I'd prefer a bald eagle to a car bumper any day of the week. Those eagles fly off with cats like Jeepers Creepers flew off with Darry and their talons get it out the way in a hurry. But that car bumper makes them flop around in agony for a while and it's really painful to watch. A few years ago I saw one of my strays lying dead in the driveway of a moving company. I could see the marks from its blood and saliva and it's... Other body parts... on the pavement from where it flopped all over the place. It made me feel really bad because I really like cats... Especially the stray ones because they actually choose you as their friend. Too bad a large raptor didn't fly away with it and feed it to its young.

This might have been a feral cat but this is the reason you should never let your kitties or small dogs be outside alone. A yorkie was on a leash being walked and an owl swooped down and tried to get it from the owner and they were almost into their house. Feral cats exist because people dump kitties outside and they manage to live and reproduce. I live in the country and I have a horse barn and that attracts feral cats. There was people in the area who let the cats live on their farms and reproduce like rabbits. A large group moved onto my property because of the barn, then my husband was dying from cancer and he was sneak feeding the cats and they were having kittens like crazy. After he died I borrowed live traps and trapped them all, I took them to a place who was doing reduced cost spay and neuter. I got them all fixed and got them shots and brought them back to my place and released them, we fed them and they lived 16 years and gradually died off. But no more kittens. This deep freeze now has just killed the last two. We take care of the bodies so the eagles don’t eat them. Looks like that was hard work carrying a body that heavy and flying with it, she is breathing really hard.
I’m pretty sure that was roadkill. It’s in pretty bad shape, she wasn’t gone long enough to do all of that. She probably stole it from some vultures....

Otherwise his/her body would go into the Earth feeding other species who are food for larger beings the Eagles prey on. It’s the whole ‘circle of life’ thing.)
When a species starts growing animals of there own just to slaughter and eat I think the circle of life has gone out the window lmao. More like the circle we choose to create.

Thanks for posting this video. Good learning material for many folks who let their cats roam in semi-rural areas. Flying raptors of all kinds pose a risk to your animal in these situations. These shots drive home the truth of that, mear words are unable to communicate.
Yes, plus your kitty is a nice big meal for coyotes- even coyotes in the city are often seen with cats in their mouths. Not to mention cats kill millions or even billions of animals each year, so it's like karma in a way lol.
Not just semi-rural. I saw one of those fly over my car as I was driving on Interstate 91 in downtown area of Hartford, CT. Since the Connecticut River has been cleaned up, the eagles have returned. They nest along the river and catch mostly fish, but of course other creatures also.
They are in cities too. Eagles a little less but Hawks and coyotes in quieter areas. I've had hawks in NYC use my window AC as a landing spot to greusomly tear apart squirrels and rats.
Nope, eagles can't prey on cats/dogs. Kittens probably, but an adult cat is far too large for an eagle to carry. If you watch the video, you see the eagle only brought back pieces of the body. the head/neck with part of a leg attached. Eagles are primarily scavengers. Most likely the cat was hit by a car and the eagle took back the carrion to the nest. When they hunt, they hunt fish and other small birds or small mammals like rabbits or squirrels. To kill a cat, the eagle would have to land, but it's doubtful an eagle would even be able to kill an adult housecat as the cat would be far stronger than the eagle unless it was a kitten or a very tiny cat. Most Eagles are less than 10 lbs. the very largest is 14 pounds maybe. Average house cat is about 10 lbs. Eagle can only take off with 2 -3 lbs from landing. It's a common myth that eagles try to attack cats and small dogs. Chickens, quail, ducks? Sure. Kittens? Yeah. But adult cats and all but the smallest dogs are far too big for bald eagles.

This all comes back to circle of life and the survival of the fittest. The cat eats the much smaller vermin and lizards who munch on all kinds of insects. And just think eagles and ospreys along with other hunting birds can help to keep down the ever growing feral cat problem.

I can't watch this. I love cats and I care for a colony in my neighborhood on top of my precious furbabies who are NEVER allowed outdoors for this reason. I live in the CA desert close to the mountains. We have everything from cougars to Golden Eagles and one Bald Eagle.
I am in a similar position. I wish people would keep their cats indoors for this exact reason (among other dangers to cats and their impact on local wildlife.)
@@Artifying My neighbors have 5 cats they let roam and they're always hunting in my yard. I don't mind if they catch rodents but they're always sitting under trees just waiting.
Hi Jennifer40, what a privilege it must be to live near so many wild animals. Thank you for your wisdom in keeping your kitties indoors, and also for your kind heart, feeding a colony of feral furries!😊❤️
@Rosemerry Thank you ❤
@@melindamasi3505 Thank you! ❤
Sometimes the cat will get the bird...
... and sometimes the bird gets the cat.
Poor fluffy, but at least they're all fed!
I think this one may have been run over. I watched the whole thing and not any of the eagle family ate it.
You did not watch the whole thing. Harriet was feasting on it twice starting at 15:53... exactly 2 hours later, she was feeding E17 what was left of the cat.
Where did the skull go??
Nature fighting back against the invasive horde of feral cats, unfortunately an uphill battle. Keep your pets indoors people!
I know this is part of nature, but I’m skipping out of this one.
All the same, can't/won't watch this one..😢😭
Don't worry, I saw the entire video, the cat makes a full recovery.
Lol
Whew I was worried for a sec rainbow 🌈
Dogs 👍
Eagles 👍
Songbirds 👍
Housecats/feral cats 👎
Not gonna talk about my favorite animal....the kids are getting really big, that's all I'm gonna say
As much I love cats, and can't help but feel sorry for that cat... In the end, the only thing that can said, Is a quote from a wise man.
"DAMN NATURE YOU SCARY"
Truer words were never spoke.
Someone likes their stasis gun lol.
Obviously died elsewhere and not by Harriet. This was a scavenge/opportunity meal. Not much remains of the feline. I hope they will remove it so it doesn’t attract other predators. I’m so sorry for the views that are effected by this. As a cat owner I understand the feeling of losing a cat to a predator as I have had that happen to me. We need to remind ourselves that these are wild animals and are opportunist hunters. We occasionally will have that reality check when events like this happen. Whenever we watch wild animals live or rebroadcasted you never know what you are going to view. Hugs to those that need it right now 🤗🤗🤗❤️
Nicely put...have a great day☺
Thanks for posting this video.
@@jkinder1982 It's millions, not billions
Sure. Kittens? Yeah. But adult cats and all but the smallest dogs are far too big for bald eagles.
love cat but love them too .. but when i saw the cat face just skip tis one .. huhu
I mean.... I love my cats, definitely hugging them extra after watching this but still.... it's nature. I get it.
I’. Sorry, but, I have not had access to my iPad to stay in touch and watch, admire our lil Eagle family, when will another lil family come to us, and when should I start watching for eggs?? Dec?? Hopefully, I will be at Mayo Clinic, getting kef
Sry, hit the wrong key, I’ve been paralyzed for 2 years, will be at Mayo Clinic, finally getting repaired, and… hopefully not missing 2022 new lil Eagle family, love to uou all💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏
Hello mrybkr and I am so sorry for your health issues and pray for your recovery. The new season for Harriet and M15 will start Oct 1st - the cameras should go live around then and I will be doing videos of their activities. Harriet normally lays her eggs in Mid November and the chicks hatch at the end of December. Be sure to check my channel beginning in October for updates and videos on them! Take care!!
This is why I don't leave my small dogs out unsupervised. I let them out the same time every day and started to notice a hawk sitting on top of the neighbors roof around that time every day, I switched their schedule up and after a week or so the bird stopped coming around. Every now and then it pops up but not as frequent as bedore...
Shoot it
That was smart of you. Hope your pup stays safe.
Keep in mind that this cat looks like it could've been accidental roadkill and an eagle just snatched the head and what remained of the back/legs.
Apparently eagles like Chinese food too

Ha! That made me laugh. Surprised that with today's political climate you didn't get your UA-cam account terminated and thrown in jail.
This is why my kitties stay in. We are having dangerously cold temperatures and last few weeks I had about 4 feral cats trying to find food and shelter at my house. This week I have only seen one kitty come by. I am afraid the others may have frozen to death. 😞
Hello Lorre how are you doing today
Ew I can’t believe you would encourage filthy feral cats to come to your house. The more you feed those nasty creatures the more they become entitled and come to expect food and shelter from you. There are far too many feral cats anyway. The more that get eaten by eagles the better 😂
Where I live, cats & dogs are not pets. They are wild animals just like any other animal
Its nature way of survival , no matter how we feel or what we say...
Its not in our hands... 🍀
@Red Fish .... yes ... we should. 🍀
a man of culture
I'm thinking roadkill too...do eagles ever go after live cats? Poor thing though. I hope s/he wasn't someone's pet...
Cat people should not watch.
A childhood of asthma thanks to family cats allowed me to watch...not with glee, just observing.
RIP poor Kitty! I love kitties. I have one myself. I held her very tight. Thank you Lady Hawk.
Lmao a video made you afraid for your pussy 😂
That’s an eagle
Hope was not poison. 🤭
Another reason why cats should be kept indoors. I am a cat lover.
Cats are miserable in doors. another good reason for you not to own a cat.
@@michaelnone6322 not true. All my cats are indoors and very happy. All lived to be 19+ years old.
Cats are hunters, it’s unnatural for them to be kept indoors.
@@AlitleInLuv Cats are a domestic animal. They are hunters, and they have decimated the bird population. They don’t belong outdoors to run free any more than dogs. Dogs are hunters too. Domestic animals belong in the safe care of humans, indoors and supervised.
@@shaunatindall175 unlike dogs, cats can’t be taken for a walk or taken to parks and open spaces to have a good run around. Although both domesticated their needs and instincts are very different
Cats kill man estimated 3.7 billion birds a year in the continental U.S. alone. Yes, 3.7 billion. Score one for the birds, thank you!
A couple of nights ago my wife and we’re driving through our neighborhood at night. We came to an an intersection and there was a great horned owl sitting on the street sign at an intersection. We stopped and watched it. After a minute, it flew to the right flying low. I turned right and about three houses down the owl flew in from of we with a rabbit squealing loudly in its talons.
That's a great nest.
Dare I reference Cousin Eddie from Christmas 🎄 Vacation? “ Whew, if that cat had 9 lives he just spent em all”! Lol 😂 it’s sad but this is one of the Realities of letting your cat run wild them again it could be Feral & if that’s the case, then at least it’s population control!
Is sweet and sad at the same time. I'm an animal lover, rescued cat, rescued dog, but I also love birds. It's the way it was designed, sometimes the animal is the hunter sometimes it's hunted. My cat brought me a baby rabbit, by its neck still alive as a gift. I was horrified at first, but then relieved to see it was unharmed and I released it
It's instinctive, survival and other behaviors are hardwired in all animals, domesticated or trained, we have to respect it. I know poor kitty, it makes me sad too, but I was also touched to see the small chick's being fed. It's how it was designed.
Our cat, the sweetest little sweetheart brought us a baby bird out of the nest 😳
The predator instinct lives in all of them.
@@Imacatp3rson you cat is not a "sweetheart" if it killed a cute baby bird
@@kerzytibok3211 it's instinct. What else do you explain from a predator? It was born to hunt, to kill so it can feed itself. My cat brings every single one of it's kills to me, and I discard of them. Now my mom must have commented this about my other cat, but my cat only gets rid of the sometimes rodents inside of our house, helping both her and us. So yes, she is a sweetheart.
Harriet looks like a big eagle, she looks much bigger than M15 if that is him in this video.
I had lost a cat like this when I was 5(My brothers witnessed her being snatched by an eagle) I know it's nature but I couldn't help but think of my kitty and shed a few tears 😢 this is why my kitty's now are all indoors and don't roam outside.
Your cat helped nature complete the food chain --- don't be sad about it
THAT POOR KITTY DEAD B4 IT HIT THAT NEST, HOPEFULLY DIDN'T SUFFER. GOD BLESS. I KNEW IT WAS FLORIDA
I can’t watch.
when I read the headline "a cat and head and foot" my mind froze and my heart burst.Just cannot watch this one.
@@dorothywest6963 Ditto Dorothy. I cried as heartbrokenly as I do when eaglets (or their parents) die.
Poor thing, at least it didn’t go to waste. And Since these birds are endangered the cat helped out the world more than the vast majority of house cats.
