I am a huge critic when people cover johnny cash because it's always soured by their attempt to change the soul of the song to more upbeat. This was almost as good as his cover. Well done. Did it much justice
This is great Sean! Amazing vocals, I dig it. Cash's cover version is probably too hard to match, especially due to the context, but this is a great cover nonetheless.
It could be done, however, with Cash's version seems to have so much is written into his story of his life. This song could be covered in the style of Johnny Cash, but it would not have the same essence that is haunting throughout Johnny Cash's singing of the song that sounds like he's saying goodbye everyone he loves, his life, the world, and everything he owns. I believe that is the essence of the difference from NIN's version and Johnny Cash's version. At least that is how I interpret the different versions.
Excellent, Sean! I can only imagine and hope that your voice will age just like Johnny's voice did. That deep and dark voice is music to my ears! Thank you !!!!
Hi Sean, your fab music came up on my "mix" this morning and I wondered if you like The Cowboy Junkies? Margo Timmins, doing Blue Moon or Sweet Jane or a personal fav - suited for a voice like yours, done a capella, but an instrument could work- the song about the miners, on their first album, "Mining for Gold" ? I have to look that one up- I still get a replay! of the original goosebumps from hearing you "croon" Otis Redding's, These Arms of Mine! The Stones used to do a tune, I think by Otis, That's How Strong My Love Is" - back when Mick's pipes where a tad better! Gotta love them though, who could have imagined- speaking of Imagine, John would be here, singing that anthem of peace, "aiming" it towards The Ukraine- Namaste from Holly Golightly
There are now 3 timeless and legendary versions of this song, Trent, Cash and Sean Rowe! Thank you for this!

It's not a Johnny Cash cover, anything after the original is a cover.
It's a nine inch nails song.
@@mattwatson7000 It is, but Sean still opted to use the alternate wording Cash chose in "crown of thorns" which brings it closer to that cover.
@@russianhorde Yes a bit disappointed that he didn’t go with the original lyrics
AWESOME
