Professional nail tech here 🙋🏻♀️. Alittle tip when you’re using gel , move the brush in circles to get that perfect coat . If you brush it like a paint brush you will have to go over and over it to get that perfect build . Also you need a primer for your natural nail love ❤
What primer would you use? I can’t use HEMA unfortunately any longer. I have builder gel that’s allergy friendly but I don’t know what to use for primer? Do you use a rubber base or?
Hi
Can you put builder gel on your natural nails without adding tips or extensions?
@@nadinecherylene553 I saw your comment,yes you can 😊
Thanks im learning too, thanks for your tips ❤❤
Hey Lani! Thank you for the in-depth tutorial. I have my products coming. Hopefully, they turn out as great as yours did!
You can place the gel and flip your hand over, The product uses gravity, It helps building the apex.
You should try turning your nails upside down each time hun that creates a natural apex...and swirl the brush from side to side instead of up and down x

Why is there so many negative comments tho?....This was really informative. Great job girl👏🏽👏🏽
Why? She didn’t prime or base but she didn’t good at application
Because ppl can be rude. Awesome tutorial girl. Ty for sharing
@@glammedbynatalia if you’re jealous just say that
@@glammedbynatalia U look like u built like Hulk hogan
It’s not really informative when she don’t even know what she’s doing. Everything she’s doing it’s wrong. And did not build that apex right or at all for that matter. She was drowning those cuticles, she was brushing backwards and lifting which causes bubbles in the gel, plus she didn’t even showed us the final step.
I’m so glad you use Gel Builder when you speak about it. The other videos on this topic often just say gel nails which can be confusing for people when they visit nail shops and ask for gel nails. Folks it’s called, builder gel, liquid gel or hard gel full sets!!! This is so nail techs know what you actually want and so the correct service. Lots of techs in salons have stopped doing gel builder or the younger crowd coming in aren’t interested in learning this type of service so it is indeed harder to find people who do this. Definitely call the salons and ask them if they do it and schedule an appointment, or expect to get an entirely different service and paying a different price then what you wanted.
my tech never does gel builder, only does the gel on top after she shapes the acrylic. not sure why.
Thank you for this. You're so underrated!
Thank you for making this video!! I'm considering venturing into the builder gel!
I did my very first pink and white set with your video! You are sooooo good at explaining!♥️🙏🏼ty
How long did it last?
This is an awesome video thank you and now I can't wait to do mine for the 1st time hopefully I will do okay after this 👍
I have watched 101 videos today and couldn't follow one as easily as I did this one💯💯🎯🎯thanx 😊
Learned what I needed thank you. Smooth music and a smooth voice with direct instruction
I just did it and it actually was perfect

Indeed!!! 🌍💞💞💞💞 f*#% everything else!!!! I 💞💞💞💞 Your nails!!!
I have a question for my nail sisters, is IBD’s builder clear thicker than Mia Secret’s Formagel clear??
I'm new too. And I been looking to learn gel nails.
I love your channel!!
Try keeping it thinner at the cuticle and gradually making it thicker to create the apex.
When the drill comes out, I know I’m in over my head!
The drill is the funnest part lol
I got tired of paying $65 for this type gel nails. Now I live in texas and they only use acrylic so I decided to start doing .y own..Great video I needed to make sure I was doing this right lol
Not true don't know what part Texas you in
@@johnnawilliams3298 What area are they doing this in Texas?
Thank you!! Very helpful video 😇
U helped me master my niche nails. ❤🎉
Do y’all have issues with bubbles that aren’t visible until later trapping dust?
If I wanna do designs on top of my builder gel do i need to do like a clear top layer first? As i tried to do a coloured tip and the gel polish wouldn't stay on top of the builder gel, like it wouldn't apply unless i put lots etc
No you don’t, once you are all done with the hard gel application as well as shaping and filing, you just need to add a foundation top coat you can buy it from amazon if you would like. Then, you can go ahead with your gel polish.
Try adding a base gel after filing
ur channel is really good 🤬🥺
Hello. Ive never tried using hard gel. So I’m a newbie. I use to go to the Nail Salon for over 20 years +. But since shut down, like everyone else Ive been trying to take care of my own nails. I have no product on my nails but nail polish. Ive been trying to grow out my natural nail. So my question is, do I need tips, or can I just put the hard gel on my natural nail? Ty for any info you may give me. Ty
It depends on your length. If you want to extend the nail longer than your natural nail then I would go with tips. Forms are pretty difficult for beginners, so learning to build the gel nail on tips first is the way to go.
Also I highly recommend using a non acid primer (also called a bonder by some companies) before applying the nail. It protects your natural nail from the hard gel and also gives the hard gel something to stick to.
Yes you can
I too am giving my nail an extra layer of strength and no you dont need a tip if you dont want to extend your nail.
U can put in natural nail by using judt primer n bonder/base
I love Aaliyah's eyes looking up at me 🥰
THIS VIDEO WAS AWESOME THANK YOU
Hey what size brush is this? ... good video
Thankyou for this video 👍🏽
Hi i see you put your hand in the lamp how long do you put it under the lamp is it when you put the gel on your nail you have been the only person i have under stand this my first time doing my own nails thank you for this video you are great
Thank you so much!!
Why my gel not getting dry in uv lamp after keeping it for 2 minutes also
Wow iam learning alot ❤😊you are amazing..can you pls help me with a list on what to buy so that I can do mine soon ...
Great video. New subscriber!
Very informative and helpful, appreciate you so much! Thank you
The better way to do gel extension, is to do it 1 by 1, so the builder gel stay on shape.
You're right, but that's what she actually did she just cut out the clips of her curing each nail which I think made it pretty confusing for viewers, especially beginners trying to learn. Also we can't really see what she's doing, an up close shot would have really helped improve the video a lot.
Should’ve shown the finished product
Keep it up hun
did you use full cover tips?
I like looking at this video, her nails are pretty
What brush is that? Great tutorial!
hello what tha best polygel that can long last
Wait to you put it in the uv lamp to dry? Or it hardens on it’s own
You have to use a ig light to dry it
Thank you for showing me… what’s not to do!
Do you use base coat?
Thank you so much for this video
Can you use this with gel extensions. Like doing a fill but instead of acrylic tips you use gel x nail tips
Yes & btw, "gel" nails are nothing but another type of plastic so there's no real need to use them.
The Niki minaj voice 🤯💕♥️
Haha she does kinda
Heyyy👋👋I'm new here!
Pls allows the video of how to make a poly gel at home
What lamp do you use! Can I get a link? I have this exact builder product but it refuses to cure under my lamp and I’ve bought 2 lamps now.. help please!
It's the SUNUV Uv/led lamp from Amazon.
@@nikoleto30 thank you.. was more wondering what one.. how many watts.. etc.
@@laceebrianne5166 I don't know the exact model but I do know it's 48w with a 5, 30, and 60s timer and has a blue base that's detachable. Hope that helps.
How long are you curing for? Ive found there will always be an inhibition layer (sticky) with the IBD hard builder gel even if I cure for 5 minutes!!! You have to wipe it off with alcohol once you’re done building/before filing & painting. (Or 2/3 alcohol and 1/3 acetone for cleanser)
I have a 150w and cute for 120 seconds at least.
I just bought and used it but now idk how to properly clean the brush and im scared imma ruin it now 😢
are you using any acetone or alcohol to when you’re dipping?
This isnt poly gel, poly gel ud use acetone or slip solution, but not with builders. Poly is more a mix or acrylic and gel, gel is just gel.
After builder gel you still apply the normal gel?
@@babitodantemusic that is normal gel
@@notanotherfuckingnikki no..that's not normal gel..there's 2 different kind which is polygel and that looks like when you squeeze a tube of toothpaste..builder gel is different consistency and work it the same way onto the nail but no need for everything else for it to stick like polygel 😁
Hey what color is that?
As an actual nail tech myself I’m screaming right now. This is not how to apply hard gel at all. But good luck.
Did you already demonstrate how you got nail tips glued on?
Hi I’m new to your channel I love it 😻
Wow this is so so helpful and you are so talented and smart.
It looks like soft gel or am I bugging out?
How many layers are needed
I was told You’re never supposed to brush it on like you are. It creates bubbles. You should never do a painting motion. back and forth pivots only.
Can you tell me or give me one link for drill machine please?
Amazon
5 & below store or cvs Walmart also
Can you really file builder gel?
What file is this?
Wish we saw the finished result.🙁💕
Gorgeous beautiful ❤❤❤
Thank you!
Does it work on full mail tips or just the tips
I think it’s sad to title this video as a tutorial for beginners. There are so many steps and products missing in this tutorial, that I feel sorry for the “beginner” that watches this video, because they will not learn proper technique and I can’t imagine that their mani would last longer than a day. This comment doesn’t come from a place of rudeness, but a place of sincerity, because I truly only want to help the beginner learn the proper steps. So, because it would take awhile to try and correct the inaccuracies in this video, I will simply suggest a few channels for the “beginner” to watch in order to actually learn correct gel application.
“The Nail Hub”
“Young Nails”
Just to name a FEW things I noticed that were inaccurate:
~Use a pH Bond Dehydrator
~Use a Nail Primer
~Use a Base Coat
(apply the above b4 you start
your Gel application).
~DO NOT apply Gel “thick at the
cuticle”. It can cause lifting.
~Remove the blue film from the
base of your UV/LED Lamp.
1:54 (I used to have the same
lamp, so I know.)
These were just a few of the BASICS that were missing. There were many other things that were left out, too many to list, but that’s why I mentioned a couple of the channels that you could learn from.
Hopefully this was helpful!!
Exactly!
Well thank you
You don't use a primer with gel. You use a bonder
This video makes me cringe so much! I didn't notice any pausing for curing in-between! Did you!?
@@dominiquecruz7503 aren't they the same thing. I found that some companies call their prim products bonders
Don't you need to apply primer before doing gel builder ??
I usually do just to prevent lifting early.
I use kiera sky non acid one though.
No.
You use a primer for acrylic.
Gel uses a bonder. Dehydrator then bonder
This is the result when people who aren't pros make tutorials. They give out wrong jnfo on a large scale
@@dominiquecruz7503 I’ve been doing nails for over 5 years and I prep the nails the same way if I’m using acrylic, gel, polygel, or dip. I do use primer and then a bonder and I’ve never had issues with lifting or anything else.
I have the same exact gel for my nails but for some reason they start to lift after a week.. and then I need to take off and re do.. weekly.. I’m wondering if it’s the primer not holding too well.. I got two one from Sally’s and one from Amazon.. both have the same effect. So then I wondered if it was this brand of gel.. 🤷🏽♀️
get the ibd base coat gel as well as the ibd ph bond. its def worth the money and it will last
You need primer and base coat
Young nails primer mine were on there like cement’ it’s expensive but worth it and you only need it on the natural nail when it grows out
You need dehydrator before your primer honey
Do not use this video if you want nails that don't lift
You NEVER use a primer with gel. You use a bonder with gel. Acrylic and gel bind differently to the nail, and the gel requires a bonder to properly bind to the nail.
Prep your nails properly. You should do a full dry manicure before applying nails of any type. Your cuticles should be pushed bsck .... pushing bsck will push all the excess cuticle back
Trim off any excess dead skin (cuticle) or use a drill with the proper cuticle attachment OR with a buffing attachment, and lightly remove any left over cuticle. If any skin or debree is left in nail bed it will cause lifting etc. Lightly buff nail bed with drill or hand buff. Just take the shine off. That's jt. Make sure you pay attention to your side walls. If they aren't properly prepped....shine free.....your nails will lift.
Also....be sure your tips properly fit. If they are even the tiniest bit too small.....it will lift.
After buffing, clean nail.beds with rubbing alcohol to remove any debri left over. Use something lint free for this.
When using gel, you don't use a primer. You use a bonder. IBD sells a uv bonder.
OK ima link a video for application. This video... the way she did jt.....is a lifting disaster. A massive WHAT NOT TO DO
Everything done jn this video, will cause lifting.
I’m a little over tired & everytime the face on your shirt pops up a little bit i crack up 😂
Y there's no primer or nail prep
Why my gel doesn’t build
Thanks for a great video
So nothing is applied before the uv gel?
You should prime your nails and do a base coat
Hella key notes was missing here.. I would imagine they lasted no more than a day or two with tips added without those components
You never use a primer for uv gel
You use a dehydrator and then a bonder
I’m not sure if I missed it but what liquid are you using to move the gel around? Or are you using all gel?
Im pretty sure she uses 100% acetone or just regular acetone
Shes only using gel but you can also use acetone to wipe the brush every now& then while working with it.
You don’t need anything to move around builder gel.
It’s not polygel …you don’t need anything to move regular gel.
Where is the result?
Even though she’s not famous on UA-cam or have 1000 subscribers, with all this hating simple because she’s black. Look at all the views on this video!!! Definitely not a bad thing on her part.
I don’t think it’s cause she’s back… but I agree people need to stop hating!
Its because she smacks her lips too much. Its gross, almost like chewing w/your mouth open.
Good but we only need to watch one nail please
You talk about the spec but do not show it
this is terrible where are the results
I love you
Practice more. Watch more professional techs use gel. It will help things become a lot more smoother. Trust me it helps.
WHAT WAS THE REASON
NO! Stop 🛑 WARNING: the biggest step missed is a good primer before gel. The only one that works for me is ‘No lift Nails-Primer’.
You sound like Nicki Minaj and remi ma
u look like stephen hawking
Hey take the blue film from the inside of your lamp
Its not a blue film...I have that lamp and that is just the color of the removable base
Edit: I really thought it was the color of the removable base but I recently used my lamp and discovered that it is in fact a blue protective film that is on both sides 🤣 it really looked like it was the actual color of the base😆
She messed her nails all the way up.
Wtf hahahha
Ya, I’m also trying to learn, and it’s not helpful to not include so many steps.
i.e.-no dehydrator or primer, no base coat, no explanation for brush type, or drill tips, filing tips, ext.
I mean, I get not being negative, it doesn’t help to be mean, just trying to give some honest feedback.
Also, please god PLEASE STOP saying the word “apex”, over, and over, and OVER!
I was honestly ready to scream from that.
Hella annoying.

This entire video is a huge no. It should say disclaimer I am not a professional and this is how I think it should be done I'm not entirely sure if it's even right
Very weak Arabic translation 😕
The view was terrible and you didnt even show the finished product. Just some constructive criticism
you know what’s funny, in the caption it’s says “for beginners” maybe take some time to appreciate that there’s people who use this as an educational purpose, not too worry if you didn’t see the outcome of the nail. learn some manners 😁
@@rileygrace4861 like me !
Having a shitty camera angle has nothing to do with the view....and its not rude ....its constructive criticism ....hence the word criticism.....not all feedback is going to be positive....stop being a little snowflake...
@@victoriao8085 Knowing proper grammer, like capitalizing your words and using correct sentences with proper punctuation is more important than insulting people and being rude to them people because of their filming. I don't see you getting out there and posting educational videos.
@@victoriao8085 she said why she didn’t show it
excuse me but where is your base coat?? where is your nail cleanser?? this is actually terrible
it’s not terrible, in fact in your opinion it was. learn to be more positive, not negative.
Girl no this is not and I’m pretty sure we know how to the them steps already .💀
I was wondering the same thing. I thought you had to put a coat of something on first. Then put the gel then put another top coat then UV. See I am trying to learn. I got my daughter a kit from Amazon and it has Powder acrilic and the gel. I can’t do the power at all. I can’t get it to ball up. I have tried and tried. So I am trying to learn how to use the gel.
@@JNB1988 Depending on the kit it may just be the actual powder being horrible. Otherwise, do you have monomer? You have to have a medium amount within the bristles of your brush while collecting the powder on one side of the brush only. Then use the naked side of the brush on a paper towel to drain some of the left over monomer. That should be enough to form a ball and not make it too runny. If it doesn’t work, the powder is too cheaply made.
@@marlayawalker1631 excuse me? i replied saying it wasn’t awful and to be positive? if you can’t be kind, move on:)
