a couple of audio issues aside, i really am proud of how this video came together! i’ve been so comfortable with my little minute videos that this process was really daunting at first. im proud of myself for getting this done and out there, and im looking forward to making even better content for everyone in the future!! 🧡
Yay more Max time! I love listening to you and following along
I really appreciate what you explained about different interpretations regarding Korean fluency. As a Korean American, I struggle reading Korean books and watching Korean shows without subtitles. However, I still have a level of fluency where I am able to build relationships and get around Korean environments. So now I don’t feel as ashamed for not being “fully” fluent in Korean. 😅
thank you for sharing!! 🙌🏻 language levels is nothing to ever be ashamed of. multilingualism at any level is something special 🎉
@@MaxNotBeer 💯 also looking forward to more of your videos and can’t wait to see your newly designed apartment! 🫶
@@woofslikejagger if it helps, I always berate myself for not being fluent in a language, because I am always looking up words, then I remember native English speakers don't even know all our words. We look things up in dictionaries all the time; that helped me be kinder to myself. All the best!
@@BasementRuthie that is an excellent point, thanks! 🤗
As someone who wants to start learning Korean, this is helpful to hear! I don’t have to hold myself to an impossible standard.
Great video!
IM SO HAPPY YOU'VE DECIDED TO DO UA-cam!! Your personality is so fun when I occasionally decide to go through youtube shorts, I've always wanted more long form content from you! Take your time with it and try not to burn out, it's probably a huge shift from short form to long form but you can do it!!
I love your content soo much! You seem like such a sweet and genuine person, your videos always make me smile 😊 I think you did a really great job with this video so theres absolutely nothing you need to feel insecure about. I'm soo excited to see you grow with your content💫

Welcome to UA-cam! Have loved following you for years (even though I could basically be your mother) and you’re such a joy to watch and it’s so fun to see you so happy. Is this where a Korean commenter would say “fighting!”? 🤷🏻♀️

Hi max! I’ve been following you for a while on TikTok. I’m so excited you started this channel. Also as a language teacher and Korean language learner, I really appreciated and agreed with your thoughts on fluency. 화이팅!
I think this was one of the few YT videos that I’ve watched till the end 🥹🥹
This was so good! More, please ❤
gemini’s unite 🤝 i was supposed to study abroad in korea during college but covid ruined those plans and i ended up graduating early in dec 2020 (you’re so right 0/10 do not recommend graduating in 2020) i’m now FINALLY taking my 5 years in the making trip to korea in 2 weeks 😱 i’ve used recommendations from your tiktok and ig for itinerary inspiration, and i’ll be taking these recommendations as well so thank you for all that you do 🙌 can’t wait for more youtube content!!
Really loved the video! The food coming during your deep talk was hilarious 😆. Honestly love your format as is- we just wanna listen to you talk and be along for the ride!! Can’t wait to see what’s next with the apartment and life in Korea! Now I’m hungry. 🤣
Congrats! You're so sincere and charming that I think most of your followers will enjoy anything you do. Hello from a fellow ENFJ -- I loved learning that little tidbit about you!
congrats on your first youtube video! so great to see long form content from you!
I'd love to see a longer video about the craziness of apartment hunting!
You're totally opening so many peoples eyes to the awesomeness of korea!
How navigable do you think that Korea is for English speakers?
Hah Max I went looking for your videos yesterday after seeing your shorts! How amazingly timely! 😆👏👏👏🙌
So nice to have longer content from you!
Congrats, so fun to see you on UA-cam 😂🎉
I love your content! I am planning a trip to Korea next year and will keep your recs in mind. I am so excited to try all the food lol.
We NEED an apartment tour and deets on the apartment and how you found it because it looks like a loft and that is what I want!! 😻🩵😻🩵
So happy Maxnotbeer (Long Form Version) is finally a thing! Instant subscribe - obvi!
As someone who also moved from nyc to I always like watching your content. Looking forward to your next video ^^
Good job and thank you for coming to UA-cam it’s my getaway from all of my daily BS so now I can watch you too because I love all things Korean 😊
Max I’m applying to the US Fulbright program and hoping to go to Seoul to conduct research, and you inspire me so much!!! I also studied international relations in college 😗. This video is amazing and I’m proud of you!!!
Yay! 🎉 so happy to be following your journey and see how far you've come. Minus the raw beef(yuck), it was awesome!
u are the cutest! coming to korea next january:))
A little late to the party. This format suits you well. You're so calm and sweet. As long as you are yourself, the content will be 100% quality 🌟🌟. Can't wait to see what you have to show in the future! 😃
I have enjoyed watching your journey and cultural love affair with the ROK, and you seemingly are as kind and authentic. It is your authenticity that is your own secret sauce, IMHO.
I need to know thr best ramen place please 😊
Love that you are YT💜💜💜💜🎉❤
loved the video
as for future videos(idk how this would be executed) kind of integrating both a korean and american style of youtube video would be cool i can’t rly pinpoint the aspects of each i enjoy but just thought it’d be interesting
Also, fan here from Philippines! ☺
Great description of cafes. Very accurate 👍
Love the first vlog!!! 🎊🎉💪🙌😎. Please walk your favorite areas in S Korea going shopping, coffee shops and eating at local restaurants 👍
Going to be loving your UA-cam videos! Of course the food content is my favourite, but exploring different neighbourhoods and cities, sharing food at a family home, investigating those grandmas who swim deep in the sea, are all things I’d be into. Do you follow the Korean American adoptee Emily? She is just winding down a visit meeting her birth family. Adoption stories are tricky but another content idea! 💙🩵🧡❤️🩷 Shout out to your lovely assistant!
Mahalo nui for the Q&A! A hui hou e malama pono 🌺🤙
YAY! Btw.. I'm looking for Busan Food Reccos!... heading there in about 2 weeks!
This is quite fun. I personally like vlog stile videos wjere you share some bits if your day.
Congrats on your inaugural UA-cam. 👍
Only one negative, the subtitles are hard to read in a pale font, would be better darker 😊
Please put info for your product & shop recommendations in the comments, or at least the timestamps to make it easier to find those bits. Also, maybe get a low table if you do a floor mukbang again. That part was somewhat alarming. Other than that, entertaining as always.
I’m a Gemini and a ENFJ too!
I do like Korean food that looks delicious 🤤😋 yummy
Omigosh stop, I go to that so gong dong in Hartsdale!!!
Okay when I go to Korea I totally want to hang out with you LOL
Cool
I avoided Korean culture in general and especially Kpop for years, because of how the toxic fandoms were the louder minority; So much so it seemed that was simply /the/ culture, not a tiny part of it. It took a lot for me to get over that, and now that I have, I'm mildly upset I hadn't been able to enjoy the culture sooner. The food especially is /perfectly/ suited to my taste, being spicy and flavourful and "work with what you got" and fermented and more veg than meat and just- THE SOUPS? ugh. ANYway, my FIRST love of Korean was actually 3rd grade. We had a substitute teacher one day that had just come back from Korea. They had backpacked through there or something as part of some group they were involved with, be it youth ministry or something else idk, and they taught us some words in Korean and wrote them on the board in Hangeul. They broke down what each "piece" of the words meant, and for LITERALLY the next 5 years I was obsessed with one word I especially found beautiful. They had written 멍 and said "This is how dogs bark" and idk why but my 3rd grade self really said "Beautiful we're gonna tag every fucking piece of paper we find with this word for half a decade wonderful love it" Years later in high school, Korean wasn't an option so I took Spanish and French so I could use them to talk to the kids in the daycare I worked at. One was French and the rest were primarily Mexican XD Now, I've spent 3 years trying to study Korean on my own and it's.... not great. I just can't find the resources available (for free, my current budget) to easily learn ._. And Duolingo is TRASH.
Don't think anyone answered this and far less likely that you will actually see this comment days after the video was posted, but the name of the tofu restaurant 'sogongdong' might have come from the name of the area(as in unit of administration) in the middle of Seoul. It's near 'city hall station' of Line 1 and 2, where Lotte Department flagship store and Bank of Korea (the central bank which mints money) are located. Also right next to Myung-dong, so it is very likely that you have been there already!
TBH I would love some kind of study with me with you, where we pick a cafe and just... study something together for like 20 minutes and maybe we grab a bite to eat after... or we visit some ajummas and help them make their fav childhood dish to see how that changes per region or something! In fact, I need to fly out there to do it with you (When the lotto hits my bank LMAO) OOH OOH or even hidden cultural gems. Places or things in Korea that make you as a foreigner really connect with Korean culture and history!!
i have a funny ig username like you too because of first year in korea jokes and now its stuck and lll always always be attached to lqiuor hahaha
👋 only recently started watching your content; interesting, fun, informational… & you’re personable. I hope to learn alot about South Korea from you & hope to visit soon. Gamsahamnida
I would like to see Korean at night and if they have any art museum and history
You really eat beef raw? 😮
hell yeah
@@MaxNotBeer I feel like in the US that marks you as a cannibal 😂😂😂 and well it feels unsafe here.
Not your last long-form video being about the Disney Sweepstakes 🤣
i thought your name is a word play on the Hite Jinro Max beer seeing how your name was Max but not the beer lol.
Max cancelled by Peta on his first video
max you're so annoying and i see your face everywhere so i have to subscribe
Actually a fun watch, enjoyed the long form, always thought you had potential for UA-cam, 🫶
