    Happy holidays and new year everyone! Super excited to finally drive my 900 at full power. Still dealing with some leaks, but hopefully we’ll get the sorted soon 😬🇸🇪

    I just purchased a 1989 Saab 900 Turbo and have been BINGING your videos. So helpful and well-done, to the point where I'm singing the 'Take it easy...' jingle at the end of each video 😆 I plan to incorporate multiple pointers from you, so thank you. Hopefully non-creepy comment: your eyes kind of match your Saab, so obviously you guys are meant for each other! Take it easy....

    Get a red box, 3.0 fuel pressure regulator, adjust your wastegate rod a twist or so counter clockwise and delete the boost cut off under dash. You will love that power!!

    The headliner is an easy weekend job. Most upholstery suppliers carry the foam backed fabric in the exact same color. Lift the hatch, remove all grab handles and sunroof trim, pull the headliner cardboard liner straight out the back, get three cans of 3M spray adhesive and go at it. Mine still looks like brand new and I did it a decade ago. No annoying sags.

    Well done , highly presentable. What I do with my 1999 9-3 LPT Convertible is take car for long run before , to get oil hot then drain overnight . I’ve been changing it twice a year , only do 2000-3000 miles a year as use weekends/ holidays/ high days etc . Nice classic 900 you have .

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  10 місяців тому

      Thank you. Good tip. I’ve always heard it’s been to do the change while the car is hot. I might have to try draining overnight next time

  • @browserrr1
    @browserrr1 10 місяців тому +2

    Don't start about horizontal drain plugs. The 9000 has it horizontally and no matter how I position the receiving container I always spill; yesterday again. The tarp I always use underneath wasn't shoved under far enough, so again some spillage on the floor 👿. I am considering having the oil changes done at the local gas station as I am getting sick and tired of having to clean up afterwards. Oil filter is easier accessible though but I think there is something to say technically for the vertical mounting as on the 900.

      SMH! Always a pain, lol

    • @pawpawbandit3871
      @pawpawbandit3871 10 місяців тому

      literally the worst. I just did an old land rover discovery1 ; it doesn't allow you to drain all the oil; it's always a mess of oil everywhere when I change it. Why would you engineer a vehicle to not be able to drain the old oil out of it?!? how is that intelligent? Every time you change your oil, you probably get like a minimum of a quart of dirty oil remaining - except for that one time, where I filled the oil without putting the plug back in...that time I got all the old oil out.

    Do some cheap Tuning: Give the Fuel Pressure Regulater some strong hits with a big Nut and big Hammer! That you have 3.0 bar Fuel Pressure. Adjust the Boost pressure by just one Turn of the Wastegate Regulater, that the gauge shows 2 to 3 mm into the red part at overboost. And try to get one red box 137007209 and a Do88 Intercooler. Its a pity that only a few Saab engine rebuilder know that there is an oil feeding line in the block. This line needs four holes where you can shrink in some oilsprayers below the pistons. This oil sprayers reduce the heat of the pistons that knocking is reduced enourmously.
    And just pull very strong on the steering wheel and the sound should be gone ;-)

    Syntethic is better for the turbo. i always run syntethic in my turbos and conventional in my NA 900s. I am running 21 psi :)

    Love it bro! I love seeing photos and videos of OG 900 rally cars and race cars! Also for oil I think you should look at Motul 6100+ 10w40! It’s a great oil for older engines and is good for turbos.

    For the steering, it has a collapsible steering shaft, there is a small spot weld to hold it to a set length, the weld brake and it makes the steering shaft sink into the dash or come out

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  10 місяців тому

      Interesting, I did not know that. Thanks!

    • @pawpawbandit3871
      @pawpawbandit3871 10 місяців тому

      @bentlarsson4033; my non-airbag steering wheels always have play to pull like 1cm out from the column. Is that due to this broken spot-weld you're talking about? It seems to me it happens when you swap to a pre-airbag wheel maybe? even if you swap the steering column with it? But that weld you're describing would make sense. Thankfully it's never an issue, just a little concerning.

    happy new year from my side aswell @AutoAutopsy. i am still working on my swap, installing the instrument cluster from a saab 9000 on my saab 900 and its almost done, the new housing is ready, the connectors are under work and will soon be wired together. the last thing thats left will be to install it, but thats comming in march.... by the way, i saw you installing the rare aero skirts on your 900... well is there a chance that at your place in the US is a WhaleTale Spoiler left for the 900? the one that the Carlsson-Editions used for example. i am looking for years to get one on my 900, well wasnt so lucky so far :/

    If the rest of the headliner is good; trust me it would be WAY easier just to put some cool fabric on the sunroof section (it's a sunroof; the other type is a moonroof). I just took out the sunroof. It would be easy enough to get a close match. After doing a couple headliners, and botching one with a sunroof - I really think it's worth taking to a professional after you remove it from the car, and paying to get a good result. Not easy to do by yourself and get a perfect result in my experience. You can do really well, like 99% with a little pulling away at the back sides or whatever, but 100% is hard because something will always go wrong or you'll smudge it or whatever a little bit. But if the car isn't going to be perfect, sure, you can do it yourself it's just not super easy. But it is a lot easier than rebuilding an engine!!!

    • @AutoAutopsy
      @AutoAutopsy  10 місяців тому

      Good tip…I might have to just do that then. Tbh, the rest of the headliner is 90% fine so that makes most sense!

    • @pawpawbandit3871
      @pawpawbandit3871 10 місяців тому

      @@AutoAutopsy if you're going for kind of a high-end finish, probably try to match it. The sunroof just pops out the top (first the top half, then the bottom with the headliner material); it can be done in a day.
