I didn't like that you put A twist in the Myth on last, but then I remembered that it is a tier list of Blind Guardian and there is no "bad album tier" just from great album to masterpiece 😁
Nice! One of if not my all time favorite bands. I did a ranking quite a while ago, but not sure if I will do another one now with the new album. Anyways, here is my ranking (pretty much love every single one, so even the albums near the bottom I still rate very high): 11. A Twist in the Myth 10. Battalions of Fear 9. Beyond the Red Mirror 8. The God Machine 7. A Night at the Opera 6. At the Edge of Time 5. Follow the Blind 4. Tales from the Twilight World 3. Nightfall in Middle Earth 2. Somewhere Far Beyond 1. Imaginations from the Other Side Cheers man, love seeing your ranking!
Pretty great list! Personally, I'd switch God Machine and Edge of Time (or even put Edge of Time at the top, it's one of my personal favorites), but otherwise I think our views agree.
Nightfall being my first ever Blind Guardian song back in Sophomore year kindled my love for them. The Curse of Feanor later started to pique my interest in the album as a whole, then I started to want more context as to what happened. I bought the Silmarillion and although I haven't finished it, these songs are more impactful and they never fail to make me emotional. I can say without a doubt, Blind Guardian is in my Top 5 bands.
For me it would be: Favourite: Somewhere Far Beyond S: Tales from the Twilight World, Nightfall in Middle-Earth, Imaginations from the Other Side A: A Night at the Opera, At the Edge of Time B: Batallions of Fear, Follow the Blind C: A Twist in the Myth, God Machine Least Favourite: Beyond the Red Mirror I'm not much into the more prog stuff they did in the last two albums, though At The Edge of Time is an excelent album from their recent stuff. I also keep changing my favourite album often, it could be any of the S tier ones. Just love this band, looking forward to see them live for the second time in Summerbreeze Brazil in less than one month 🤘
1. Somewhere Far Beyond 2. Imaginations From The Other Side 3. A Night At The Opera 4. Nightfall In Middle-Earth 5. Follow The Blind 6. Tales From The Twilight World 7. At The Edge Of Time 8. Beyond The Red Mirror 9. The God Machine 10. A Twist In The Myth 11. Legacy Of The Dark Lands 12. Battalions Of Fear
I’m coming back to Blind Guardian after last listening to them in like 2007 but the new album pulled me back in. I just wanted to say though that your passion for music always shines through and seems very genuine. Respect.
Favourite: Nightfall S: Imaginations, Somewhere far... A: Edge of Time, Tales from..., God Machine B: Beyond, Night at the Opera, D: Battalions, Twist in the Myth The God Machine is my favourite album release this year!
No such thing as bad BG albums Favorite: Nightfall in Middle Earth S: Follow the Blind, Tales from the Twilight World, Imaginations from the other side A: The God Machine, Somewhere far beyond, At the Edge of Time B: Battalions of Fear, Beyond the Red Mirror C: A Night at the Opera, A twist in the Myth Least Favorite: The Twilight Orchestra
The best with no doubt is "imaginations from the other side". And at the second place "At the edge of time". And at third place "Somewhere far beyond".
I did the same list and had a hard time filling out the bottom end. Such a great band with a super cool and friendly following which I am glad to be a part of.
God Machine seems to be a quite good album but I always listen to a new one a few months before I make up my mind. Sometimes I exaggerate due to initial excitement, and sometimes I simply don't get the songs for a long while. Great list as usual. My fav will most likely always be Imaginations.
12) Legacy Of The Dark Lands 11) A Twist In The Myth 10) Battalions Of Fear 9) Follow The Blind 8) Beyond The Red Mirror 7) Tales From The Twilight World 6) The God Machine 5) At The Edge Of Time 4) A Night At The Opera 3) Nightfall On Middle Earth 2) Imaginations From The Other Side 1) Somewhere Far Beyond
I wouldn't rank any of their album as C personnaly. The God Machine next to Imagination From The Other Side, is well deserved because i felt the same, more than 20 years ago, when listened to it for the first time... no need to say, their new album hit a sweet spot for me. Personnaly, i would have ranked A Night At The Opera S+ It's not my favorite album as i'm a huge fan of Imagination From The Other Side style of music, but this is their most outstanding work to me. It needs to be listened more than once at to enjoy the full potentiel and every details, but this is a real rare masterpiece.
I need more time to warm up to God machine so it ranks lower. Every album is highly entertaining other than Twist in the myth, which is just alright. 1. Imaginations 2. Twilight world 3. At the edge of time 4. Somewhere far beyond 5. Nightfall 6. Follow the blind 7. Battalions of fear 8. God machine 9. Night at the opera 10. Beyond the red mirror 11. Twist in the myth
Blind Guardian are one of the best that power metal has to offer alongside Helloween, Angra, and Running Wild. They have a mostly consistent discography, so here would be my ranking: S - Tales from the Twilight World, Somewhere Far Beyond, Imaginations from the Other Side A - Follow the Blind, Nightfall in Middle-Earth, At the Edge of Time, The God Machine B - Battalions of Fear, A Night at the Opera, A Twist in the Myth C - Beyond the Red Mirror D - Legacy of the Dark Lands
A night at the Opera was actually the Album wich Made me love BG but at the Edge of time is just a little bit better because Its Not that overloaded and have a more modern sound.

When it came out, I did not like Legacy of the dark lands. It was just weird to hear Hansi singing something orchestral. But I gave it another listen a few months later and it slowly became one of my favorites. + I laughed so hard, when you ranked Somewhere far beyond. I started singing, and a second later you did the same.
I'm a Thrash fan, so I enjoy their first two albums since they are a bit on that spectrum. I've been meaning to give the rest of their discography a listen, I'm just not a huge fan of power metal that they've geared towards.
I get where you're coming from. I'm a big fan of thrash and really don't like much power metal. However, I LOVE Blind Guardian. Their stuff from the 90s might be my favorite music of all time.
