In the New Testament, all believers, men, women, children, and even black people have been priests now for 2,000 years. God himself has made us priests. I Peter 2:5, 9 Revelation 1:6; 5:10 The priesthood is not a position in a church. It is who we are in Christ.
@@Elizabeth-rk3do I believe he was speaking to the jews in 1 Peter, as prophesied in Exodus 19:6. As for Revelation 1:6, he was speaking to the 7 churches in Asia. In Revelation 5:10, it is a reference prefaced in verse 9, to our pre mortal existence, when all of Heaven was sad because nobody could be found worthy to open 'the book' (see v.4), and then Jesus was found worthy and we all rejoiced! It was important because this book contained important knowledge that we needed to progress to become like Heavenly Father. It always says kings and priests, not queens and priestesses. And today, all nations are able to become worthy to hold the priesthood. I believe that the reason there was a time when it was not permitted for all nations had more to do with the contemporary state of affairs regarding slavery in North America, and the setting didn't become safe for our dear Black people to hold the priesthood until the movement started by Martin Luther King and others in the 1960s and 70s. This is just my personal musings.
This lady is really all over the place with what she is talking about. Let me just say as an active LDS woman myself, her experience is not completely representative of all LDS women. Her story feels very cultural to living in Utah, with generations of LDS family. The LDS experience is very different for converts. Especially converts from outside of Utah. And these cultural aspects of her story also only relate to areas of high LDS population.
I would have to somewhat agree with the part where you say her story feels very cultural to living in Utah. She does express however that this is her experience and also that she doesn’t represent all Latter-day Saint women. I think she represents the diversity of people and their beliefs well. I live in Australia and the culture of the church is very different to the Utah culture. There are more members outside of the US throughout the world, so it’d be nice to have representation from other countries and their experiences in different settings (not necessarily in this video) in general. Thankfully, the doctrine is the same globally, for which I am grateful for. That doesn’t change and is the same, as is God. ☺️ Great conversation!
I understand your comment very well. We left Utah after retirement, born and raised in LDS community with all the cultural ties, etc., and move to rural Texas in the Bible belt. It is certainly a cultural shock and a learning experience I would never have got or received in Utah, Idaho or some of the more populated Membership areas of the church.
And her experience is also different from mine because I am a single member of the church and don’t have a husband or kids. I would love to see Jeff interview all kinds of members of the church, not just those who fit a certain stereotype.
I was thinking the same thing. Also it seemed like she prioritized promoting her books over giving a general idea of what the church experience is like for women and how that relates to her specifically. I guess I’m missing some of the general part, like the plethora of opportunities for women to serve, teach, lead, minister, and prepare and give talks/sermons.
Thank you for this episode, Pastor Jeff, because as a woman, it has definitely reaffirmed my faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 🙏 I listened to your questions as well as the answers. I must admit I was intrigued by the body language and facial expressions displayed by everyone 🤔😊 All that aside, this interview made me think of our precious Elder Holland and his talk "I Am Him" in the October 2024 general conference, where he said: "Jesus was a man of sorrows, the scripture say. He experienced sadness, fatigue, disappointment, and excruciating loneliness...If then the harder you try, the more difficult it seems...remember that it has been so for some of the most faithful and marvelous people in every era of time..." "Also remember that there is a force in this universe determined to oppose every good thing you try to do. So, through the abundance as well as poverty, through private acclaim as well as public criticism, through the divine elements of the Restoration, as well as human foibles that will inevitably be part of it, we stay the course" Elder Jeffrey R. Holland 🙏💝💝💝🙏 We are in this mortality to be tested, man or woman it matters not. We are here to walk the paths our Savior Jesus walked, and only in Him will we be able to find our way back to Heavenly Father! When our lives are focused and centered around the Savior, our faith will remain stronger and firm as the foundation of His restored Gospel here on earth 🙏💙 #LDS4Life❤🎉
I just don't see what walking the paths of our Savior has to do with temple recommend cards, obligatory tithing, mission expectations, mandatory marriage for exaltation, filling church callings outside of one's spiritual gifting, etc. Jesus did none of that. To be honest it seems the trajectory and expectations of the LDS life have nothing to do with how Jesus walked the path of His life and where He is going is not to a temple made with human hands. God does not even dwell there.
We don't have Biblical records that correlate exactly to those things, it's true. But that doesn't necessarily mean Jesus did not do things like that during his life. I don't think the temple ordinances as we practice them now would have been written in the Bible. Most of the people the writers of the books of the New Testament were writing for had no familiarity with temple work as we know it today. The Jews themselves had a Mosaic law version of temple work, which is included. Furthermore the Bible underwent many rounds of copying, abridgement, and edits throughout time. There are other elements of our church that are found in the New Testament and not very many other places, so let's not discount that. Remember when Jesus took Peter, James, and John up to a mountaintop for a transcendent experience? That certainly seems to be something that would need to have an equivalent today. Mountaintop experiences with God happened with Moses and other prophets in the Old Testament. Is regular worship an equivalent? I don't believe so, or Jesus would have just preached to them on a hillside or taken them to synagogue. But no one is trying to make people who don't want those expectations worship that way. The expectations can feel like a lot, and so there is really no substitute for a testimony of our church in navigating those expectations.
@@janetspiritofthelivinggod6328 The law of tithing is really not a modern principle. Melchizedek gave tithing. There are tremendous blessings that stem from paying a full tithe. I can truly testify of that. Miracles have happened in my life because of that. I think it also comes down to having a testimony that Christ is the leader of the Church. The prophets and apostles are only his servants and they just do and say what He wants them to do. He chooses how He wants His church to be led. He is the Master. So if He says that we have to pay a full tithe, keep the commandments, etc, in order to go back to Him and God, it is because He knows that this is the best way for us to achieve our full potential and receive the greatest blessings. He wants so much for us, much more than we can ever imagine. Who are we to tell Him how to run His Church? He has all wisdom and we have a very limited understanding of the eternal laws. 💝 He truly is rooting for us. 😊
@@esm1817yes, and it was after I went to the temple that I saw the temple hidden between the lines throughout the Old Testament. Maybe not as much in the New Testament because the point the writers were trying to make was that Jesus was the fulfillment of all the Old Testament prophecies, and the contemporary listeners were already immersed in the temple culture. The Old Testament, on the other hand, was really more of an illustration of God's patience and His dealings with men pointing forward to His Son's future, merciful, infinite atonement.
@@CML95018 I agree. Watching these videos has been very reaffirming when it comes to my testimony in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It's cool to hear someone learn about the church's doctrine for the first time. It's a sweet and tender experience. 🥰

@clg163 When I repented of my sins and put my faith in what Jesus Christ did for me on the cross, instead of trusting in what I could do for God, Christ forgave me of all my sins, imputed/ gave me His righteousness, which is the righteousness of God, and granted me the gift 🎁 of eternal life. We mean no offense when we get up and bear testimony saying "I know the church is true". If you are not a member, we do not doubt your belief is genuine, and we believe God will bless you for following your convictions. When we say "the church is true", what we mean by that is that God established this church specifically to help prepare the earth for the Savior's return. It means that God leads this church through prophets He has called. It is not saying that we believe our leaders to be perfect people, though they do have the authority by virtue of their calling to lead the church. We are not saying that there is not truth in your churches, or that you are bad or wrong for not being members of our church. Rather, we are saying we have additional truth, which we wish to share with all the world.
That is not true. Latter-day saints (namely my mother) believes that the LDS church is the ONLY true church. And you don't KNOW, you BELIEVE. Knowledge and certainty aren't faith and without faith it is impossible to please God.
My mother acted like not making it to the celestial Kingdom was equal to going to Hell. It was all or nothing with her. So I became a perfectionist to try to please her. 😢

We are beloved spirit daughters and sons of God and each has an eternal purpose and role now and in the eternities to come. Wow I can relate so much to the first 8 minutes of this video! I got divorced 7 years ago we have 4 kids. I got remarried 4 years ago, sealed in the temple this year. My kids struggle with similar issues that Ganel-lyn struggled with as a child. I love the LDS church and the thought of a forever family after this life on earth.
I was impressed with you guys did a lot of listening. It's unique that as hosts you focused on listening more than maybe follow up or how you may differ or going deeper on a certain topic. It felt very organic as far as letting it go wherever that was with minimal guidance.
37:05 thanks for showing this, Jeff. So many evangelicals show us as “mindless” “unthoughtful” “brainwashed” people. And they don’t acknowledge our personal experience. So thank you for doing that and giving us that space.
I loved meeting all three of you on the cruise in March. The things you presented and talked about were so inspiring! I have followed you since. Ganel-Lyn, what beautiful words and perspective you shared. You spoke of two of my “sister hero’s,” Sister Holland and Ardeth Kapp! I was able to meet both of them, which I am still so incredibly grateful for. Your thoughts and words about them brought tears as I reflected on their influence and inspiration in my life. The things you said in this video are so timely and have really given me perspective on many things I have been thinking about and have experienced also. Thanks to all three of you for your thoughts and insight. Beautifully done.
Having spent some significant amount of time outside of the LDS church and having been part of Evangelical churches, I can honestly say there is a very stark difference in the feeling between the LDS church invokes vs the evangelical ones. The evangelical churches always seemed to be grasping for something, they had a feeling of Christlike love to be sure, but there was a lack of grounding and steadfastness. It is actually rather hard to describe. When I entered into an LDS Chapel, I could see the difference, and feel the difference. Im not trying to depreciate the faith of evangelicals, but its almost like going to the empty tomb. His presence can be felt but He is not there.
Do you know for sure, if you were to die today, that you have forgiveness of sins and eternal life? I John 5:13 These things were written that ye might know that ye have eternal life.
Loved this powerful conversation. Your genuine love for goodness shows in all of your episodes, and especially this one. We Latter-day Saints are blessed to have such loving friends as you both. I’ll say this once again, you are a dynamic duo. Love you both so much.
Jeff, watching your channel is such a heartwarming experience for me. I see so many videos of people claiming to be your religion criticizing us. It means so much that you aren't like that. ❤
What an open and honest watch.....thank you to each of you. Love that you are open on both sides of different faiths and believes. We all can do this and unite. AS an LDS member for over 48 years. This was a WONDERFUL conversations and I love and appreciate all three of your for having it and letting us in on some very valuable talking points regarding interfaith dialogue. I appreciate you and Joy being so willing to listen to sister Condie and let her share her viewpoint of the good news of Jesus Christ and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
As a Protestant Christian, it was fascinating how much LDS terminology is just a part of talking about daily life and faith. If you havent studied the LDS faith, you'd have no idea about the implications of some of the words she uses. If you have, you can make much more sense of her experience.
@@briandavis6898 using the words "restoration" and "agency" a lot. Saying Jesus is a "big brother." There were others but I don't remember them off the top of my head.
@valeried7210 it is a restoration. The reformation wasn't enough to restore Christ's church. Agency just means free will as opposed to calvinists who believe that the majority of humans will be damned by no fault of their own. And as to brother Jesus, read John 20:17

@hellosaints, I have been following your channel from the very beginning. I've watched every episode you've done (some multiple times). I am a professional speaker, author, brain tumor survivor, wife, mother, and lifelong Church member. At 34:42. Women do not hold priesthood authority in the same way men do in the LDS church. However, pay close attention at what is said by both men and women at the veil. Women have priesthood powers as it pertains to them and their families. Women also have priesthood powers as it pertains to church callings.
I insisted my bishops, ministering brothers/sisters recognized and celebrated my daughter achievements! I held high standards of my extended ward “ family” to be aware of Her growth, struggle and her ability to progress… and to talk with Her about all of those things when at our house!
The Lord gave us the way. But they are given agency, they have friends, and all have an effect on them. So blessed to have the pathway ,but love and great ful gift of agency
That goes for all traditions and religions. I work with several LDS folks that have no clue about Joseph Smith’s biography, are biblically illiterate, etc. I don’t think all LDS are that way or judge the religion based on them…
I was raised LDS and I feel like at church I was raised to have a relationship with “the church”. In recent years, the Lord has woken me up and showed me that it is NOT about a church, but ALL about relationship with Christ. I appreciate how you and your wife are bringing this truth to the LDS people. God bless you both! ❤
26 min in, its important to note that Christ is the adoptive Father. He is the creator of this world, and the Jehova of the Old Testament. As for the Sacrament, it is ALWAYS the most important aspect of the Church Sunday block.

Jordan Peterson said that women tend to care more about people while men tend to care more about things. It’s interesting that the first female saint guest you presented spoke so little about doctrine yet so much about relationship feelings.
@@stephtimms1776 , interesting comment. If you’re going to be “as gods” you have to have someone that you’re like a god to… which is basically the definition of parenthood… being the source that children look to because of your “knowledge of good and evil.”
@@explorerofmind I don't believe Eve was focused on being a god to someone. That's quite a stretch. Parenting is a strong instinct in women, physically and spiritually. They needed to know they were naked first, to be able to have children.
@@stephtimms1776 , But, parenthood is the earthly equivalent to the heavenly relationship that God has with us. , All I know is the scriptures say that Satan tempted Eve with: “the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” And when she made the decision, the scriptures said: “ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof”
@@explorerofmind True, but that's deep doctrine. People couldn't even grasp the sacrament in John 6:66 when Jesus himself spoke, so much more so with that doctrine.
She did a good job. She was strong on the topic of cultural changes. I agree with other comments that next time, perhaps, you might choose a woman who has been raised outside of Utah, and has a firm grasp of LDS history(even the uncomfortable truth). She might even be a convert. I lived in Utah for 7 years after graduating from BYU. It was a culturally enlightening experience, and increased my gratitude for the strong testimony of Jesus Christ I obtained, from the strength of the members of the church outside of Utah. I grew up in California, and will forever be grateful for the friends of other faiths who embraced me, while also allowing me to defend my faith.
I remember feeling that this was needed at the moment in time. Many husbands were killed in Hans Mill and these widowed women were being forced (in late fall) out of their homes, and with many children to care for. They were facing not having enough food, not able to carry their necessities, and many other things that take a partner to do. Many single moms with children were on the trail. They had to carry their food and what they could on hand carts. It was horrible conditions of snow, icy rivers, freezing temperatures. I don't know too many groups of people who had to face this in history except for refugees. They needed security, strength, financial means, etc. The ones who were asked to take on another wife or multiple had the funds to support them in the beginning. I don't know if that changed. But there was a purpose, and many people left the church due to it. What church would commit political suicide by asking this of a faithful people who were already at their breaking point. Many felt the spirit of the Lord and felt it was the right thing to do but many could not come to agreement with this at all.
Many churches take on widows and orphans but they expect the men to marry the women as multiple wives. Of course charity is necessary, but that makes no sense when one understands that Joseph Smith actually sent husbands away for 2-year missions and then he married their wives in their absence and didn't give them back upon the husband's return. He also married sisters, a mother and her daughter, and a 14-year-old girl promising her family a celestial surety if they allowed him to have her. These are not situations of charity.
@@stephtimms1776 It sounds like you wouldn't mind being sent on a mission and while your gone have a married prophet marry your wife, teenage sister, or mother. I just don’t understand why you learn everything you can about the LDS church and not make it a search for truth? Sincerely curious: is it because you are afraid to find out that it could be true?
He's definitely in a journey of truth, however he's not the seeker. He already found the truth, this channel is for members of the LDS church, he's subtly showing what the differences are between Christianity and Mormonism. There's major differences and when you allow others to express themselves you have a greater chance of understanding each other. I believe Pastor Jeff is trying to open people's eyes, not the other way around. Too many red flags with the LDS faith unfortunately.
@@gibbssanchez5492 LDS are not unaware of our major differences. Trust me we already KNOW how we’re different. Pointing out the differences over & over isn’t convincing anyone of anything on either side.
Jennifer Finlayson-Fife might be a very interesting LDS woman to interview with. She has wisdom and excellent oversight of our theology surrounding women.
Guys, the point is to selflessly love your wife with an anxious concern for her comfort and well-being. If you do, why would you EVER want her to come within a thousand miles of feeling like a second class member of the church or of your marriage? Our church leaders have obviously worked very hard at this, especially in the decades since Pres. Hinckley was the prophet. I don’t measure up very well on this, but I’ve finally grown enough for this to have become the way I at least want to be for my wife. My favorite scripture on this is from the spiritually reborn Anti-Nephi-Lehies: “rather than take away from a sister, they would give unto her.” (Alma 24:18)
I think her faithful perspective is great, but I think it would be great to talk to a LDS women who fits the stereotype, one who hasn't written books, is a homemaker, doesn't feel like they have experienced pain due to religion etc. rather than always talking about hey look a woman can be outspoken and break the mold. There is nothing wrong with deciding not to break the mold. I am also curious to hear the Evangelical thoughts on the original 12 apostles and Paul as a replacement apostle after the death of the savior.....If apostles weren't needed anymore, why did they replace Judas?
There was significance attached to the number 12. Replacing Judas fulfilled prophecy. Acts 1:20 Psalms 109:8; 69:25 James was killed with a sword, and he was not replaced. There are only 12 apostles. They possessed all the qualifications of apostleship. An apostle had to be an eyewitness of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Acts 1:21-22 He had to be with them since the baptism of John. The apostles and prophets were for the foundation of the church. (Ephesians 2) Notice that apostles have a higher standing than a prophet. The foundation of the church was laid 2,000 years ago. (In the Bible, both men and women were priests and prophets. Only men were apostles.) The word apostle means one who is sent with a message. In a generic sense, it can apply to anyone. Paul was an apostle to the Gentiles. Most of the New Testament was written by the apostles. Matthew, Peter, Paul, James, Jude, John.
Great conversation. In my opinion you will never agree with anyone 100%, I don’t even agree with myself sometimes, lol 😂. Having said that, she portrayed very well many aspects of our faith. As a male convert not from Utah (and truthfully someone who said he’d never live here, but GOD had a different opinion 🤔😳😂) and as y’all have talked aboot, there is definitely a ‘Utah’ culture, but if you go to the Bible Belt you will find a Baptist or whatever culture. Mostly, I appreciate the journey that you’re on and the open minded and open armed approach that you take! Thank you!
34:00 Restored gospel in LDS doctrine implies that Gods word is changing, that God would allow human man to corrupt His word which the Bible makes VERY clear that Gods word will never pass away. His word is NEVER changing, He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
I don't understand your implication at all. Restoration means bringing back what was lost. It means to restore that which has existed from the beginning of man. I can easily see how many Bible-based Christians think what we teach to be strange or new doctrine as most don't know much about how or why the Bible was compiled or what things were left out. LDS believe Adam & Eve understood concepts like eternal marriage, covenant promises, symbolic sacrifice, clothing and priesthood ordinances but our abbreviated biblical record of their day did not detail these things. The same is true for Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and many other prophets. Most biblical prophets focused on Gods revelations for them & their nation in their day, so they didn't repeat what others had said, but they did follow the pattern with each one adding to and bringing out just a little bit more to facilitate understanding and a return to the basics of faith by the people. Each had their own books of doctrine until Constantine made them consolidate it all into one to bring unity. When a young Joseph was confused by all the contentions of Biblical text by the various sects, he appealed to God for clarification. God has always spoken to men by way of prophets, so He did not change the pattern but continued to speak as always through a new prophet. Just because man put a bunch of the books together did not mean God had stopped speaking to man, nor that He would not have more to say as society progressed. Jeff, I don’t know if you were consciously trying to step back and let the women speak, but I felt like this conversation really lacked structure and was way too open-ended. You said you wanted to have a conversation about the experience of Latter-Day Saint women and less about doctrinal topics, but then she kind of just talked about whatever. I think it would have been fine to interrupt her more and ask more leading questions. You should have clarified what you meant by wanting to know her “experience.” It’s way too broad of a question
Hello Pastor! I don’t know if you’ve covered this already, but you should look into the growing movement in the LDS membership: “monogamy affirming” saints. There’s a lot of members diving into the history and “doctrine” of polygamy. Growing evidence suggests that Joseph Smith never practiced it or preached it, public or private. Please check out the podcast, 132 Problems by Michelle Stone and the podcast “Still Mormon.” I think it’ll be an interesting topic in the very least.
@ That’s a good question! Because they’re protecting Brigham Young. I think there’s a theory that if they point to Brigham Young as the originator of polygamy, it unravels a lot of the rose-colored stories of early Utah. That’s not to say anything against the pioneers who crossed the plains because of their deep faith; they were much stronger and better people than me. If you take out Brigham Young, then a lot of the narrative is dismantled or at least put in a different light. I think the fear is that members will leave if they find out if Brigham Young was the perpetrator vs. Joseph Smith. I can dive into what the reasons might be, but I think they’re getting the same result they fear by continuing with Brigham Young’s narrative, much of which is inconsistent and unverifiable. Many of my peers are leaving over the Church’s official “history” about Jospeh Smith. I’m trying to spread the truth, so they don’t lose all faith in God at the very least.
@Alicia-yn6gt The true and living God the Father of the Bible is invisible and a spirit. (I Timothy 1:17) God spoke the universe into existence from nothing, including the planet that the LDS Heavenly Father came from and the star Kolob that he lives near. God is self-existent. God doesn't need food, air, water, clothing, shelter, sleep, s-x, or anything else a mere created being might need. Unlike pagan gods, Eros, Thor, and Zeus, the true and living God is not married. God created Adam out of the dust of the ground and Eve out of Adam's rib, no wife needed! God knew that no one could ever measure up to his standard of perfection. Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect. No amount of keeping the commandments, tithing, joining a church, making covenants, repentance, baptism, doing good works, etc., would ever make someone acceptable to God. The good news, the gospel (I Cor 15), is that Christ has already done the one work that was necessary to reconcile all mankind to God when he shed his blood on the cross, died, and rose again. Like the thief on the cross, all anyone needs to do is repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ. The moment someone repents and puts their faith in Jesus Christ, instead of trusting in what they can do for God, Christ immediately forgives them of all their sins, imputes/ gives them his own righteousness, which is the righteousness of God, and grants them the gift of eternal life. God now sees them as perfect, as clothed with the garments of salvation, the righteousness of God. Isaiah 61:10 Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering Christ hath perfected forever them that are sanctified. Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death, but the gift 🎁 of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Come unto Christ and be perfected. ❤
I really wish this lady would have come on to help Jeff and Joy understand how women experience the church and the many opportunities to draw closer to the Savior through serving, ministering, preparing talks, leading and teaching. Rather than just promoting her books and social media accounts.
Humans are complicated. Each of us experiences God a little differently. Some lives are very messy but a God of miracles knows how to relate to all who desire a close relationship with Him. The same teachings or doctrines don't work for everybody. Life is a journey that challenges each of us in how we are willing to prepare to meet God.
I think it’s fair to say that each woman who is a member of Jesus Christs church, raised in the church or not, will be different. We each come to our knowledge by completely unique circumstances and experiences.
Thank you for your content, I wish I can talk to my fellow family members who are Protestant this way. It’s very hard to talk about religion differences and similarities. we just talk about God and Jesus in very general ways.
Does Jesus teach in His example of Lazarus and the Rich man that we are intelligent spirits that do not need a body to live? Does the Bible teach that everyone will be resurrected and immortal? Does the Bible teach that Jesus could not be killed after He was resurrected? If we had a body like Christ's body after He was resurrected, where He materialized in the middle of a closed room, could a prison hold us? Could any laws be enforced? We see then that God caused us to be mortal prior to becoming immortal, so we can learn from being weak. Adam's fall was not a tradjady, like all the rest of Christianity teaches. It was a necessary step for us to learn as the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints teaches, and as the Book of Mormon teaches. I can prove that everyhing Joseph Smith recieved as doctrine is true.
As far as polygamy and there here after. I don’t worry about whether or not it is being practiced. I have also believed that Heavenly Father will work out and it will all be done as it will and should. I just need to make sure that I will be there and leave the rest to Heavenly Father.
her comments are kind of scattered and not very focused. . .I'm a woman in the church and not a lot of what she's saying relates to my own experience so far, but I'm only 1/2 way in, so I'll keep listening.
Jesus Christ said that the church would never need to be restored. Acts 1:6 The disciples wanted to know when the kingdom of Israel would be restored? Acts 3:21 As long as Jesus Christ is in heaven, there will be no restoration. The true, original church was started by Peter in Jerusalem ten days after Jesus ascended into heaven. We know exactly what they taught and believed by reading the book of Acts. The church in Rome was started later. We know exactly what they taught and believed by reading the book of Romans. The apostles and prophets were for the foundation of the church. Eph. 2 The foundation of the church was laid 2,000 years ago. Jesus Christ is our living Prophet, Priest, and King!
@@Elizabeth-rk3do I understand that all revelation ceased when Jesus died on the cross and said "It is finished", so according to the evangelical way of thinking you cannot accept anything past His crucification as being His word. Thus all of Pauls writings are out.
@donnathompson679 By saying, "It is finished" Jesus meant that the debt we owed God for our sins was paid in full with Christ's precious blood. Nothing else remains to be done. "It is finished" doesn't mean that all revelation ceased. I never heard of that.
Priesthood, priesthood , priesthood! Priesthood pride has become a stumbling block in LDS church. It’s signs of the believers not signs of the priesthood. Women like Emma in the early restoration gave blessing of healing and the woman that was healed said the woman had greater faith than the men, Joseph smith defended it. Are tradition of priesthood has created a form of disbelief in women, thinking they couldn’t do these things, they never asked or tried because of false traditions. The priesthood is everlasting according to the bom, but it resides in the body Christ as Jeff was saying. There is no mention of Aaron priesthood in the bom, no mention of priesthood after Christ came in the bom clearly it’s operation changed, after the first and last great high priest came and fulfilled, no more need for a high priest the types and shadows of Christ after the real thing came.
As an inactive Lds member, I realize now how prideful and self righteous it was to say we were the one true church. The Bom teaches that only christ is the keeper of the gate and he employs no servant there. His ways and thoughts are so much bigger and holier than that narrow minded view. We got indoctrinated by overshadowing the Bible and the Bom with false doctrines in the D&C and by men claiming to be Apostles without any evidence of the signs for the believers.

Latter Day Saints are rarely given a safe space and the opportunity to share their beliefs (which are so often misrepresented or misunderstood ) When you love something or know something deeply or passionately, it’s exciting and you want to share! That’s what happens when you are vulnerable and truly love of Jesus Christ and your relationship with Him
Nowadays there are widowers and widows who remarry and no one hates on them for marrying another..... Is that not modern day polygamy in that regard? God will sort that all out latter on; and for me I honestly don't have any issues with it. If anything I have more trouble explaining how it doesn't bother me to other people where it does bother them. I see it similar to questions of how does god mend the tears in families trees with divorce, what about blended families, or adopted parents/children, or even someone remarrying after the death of a spouse. its kinda the same problem soup just a slightly different flavor and God will mend it latter to a place where everyone is happy about it. If I know I will be satisfied and happy with the end result..... why do I need to have such anxieties about it. Why have it gnaw on my faith like a wild mouse lose in a house making noises and keeping me up at night? I have come to the conclusion that God did it to help fix a problem that was temporary that no longer exists in my time and it really shouldn't bother me. OUr ancestors would probably be horrified with the concept of divorce and stuff going on nowadays far more than we of the past with polygamy I bet..... There are far more pressing matters I need to be worried about and engaged in my time and efforts rather than things of the past. Polygamy in the churches past (baggage as some call It) is not my problem to adopt and hold onto or store for latter like a bygone technology long since extinct and nonfunctional sitting in an attic. I can let it go and not worry about it at all. I have my own junk in the attic to worry about right now like how to be more Christ like, repenting of sins past, present, and future, raising my own children in Gods ways despite the current state of the world, and enduring to the end in a gone mad state of the world.
I really like these two people. Think they really are trying to follow and be like Christ. They have already stated that they are not going to join the LDS church. If they did join they wouldn’t be able to really do this podcast anymore. They are just making money off of members.
I have never heard of this woman, but she seems very nice. I still don't relate much as a woman in the church. I think that she's pretty nervous, understandably.
@ in the Church, we believe that anyone can call upon Christ to use His priesthood to heal and bless. It’s called the prayer of faith. And the early pioneers used the prayer of faith to heal even animals. There is a notable story in the movie Legacy where this is reenacted
@@zionmama150 I think that is true to some extent. Mary Fielding Smith healed her oxen, and was given miraculous help in other ways, but I've always felt it was Hyrum watching over her combined with the similar power of motherhood, which the Lord honors just as much as we strive to live worthy of it. I've had healing experiences, with my child who was ill and saying a prayer with my hand on her head with that in mind. I think women today feel envious of the priesthood, when there is no need. We have similar access to the power of God but through a different channel, more suited to our equally honorable stewardship, and as you explained when combined with priesthood power of God through prayer can be just as powerful.

The scriptures you listed are referring to those who God had called, including his 12 apostles when he was on the earth. Was it racist of Jesus that he didn't call a more diverse group of leaders? The Holy Priesthood is not a right, but a calling to those willing to serve with an eye single to his glory. Historically, it was the house of Israel who mainly held the holy priesthood, but there were times they lost it due to disobedience. They were called to eventually help others prepare for it also. Claiming a right to the holy priesthood without being prepared and called, or trying to buy it, is not of God.
I’ve seen/read interviews with LDS women TERRIFIED of dying young or in childbirth, because if their husbands remarry, they will have other wives alongside them. They say it’s a well-known and common fear.
As a member for over 55 years I have NEVER known about nor had a common fear of dying young and having my husband remarrying, that just shows me that alarmists and sensationalists are alive and well. If there is polygyny in heaven then I am quite sure it is not going to be the big deal it seems to be here in this life. Seems to be a lot of jealous/possessive thinking and a lot of judging going on of those who practiced it. When we have the opportunity to interview those who did we might have our minds change by the truth:)
It seems like she doesn't really answer the questions you ask, or she misunderstands the questions and then goes off on her own tangent not really getting at the spirit of what you actually wanted to know. This was kind of a hard interview to listen to unfortunately. And I found her comment towards Ballerina Farms calling her "suppressed" extremely disrespectful considering Hannah herself (Ballerina Farms) has publicly stated that the article on her maliciously twisted a lot of what was said during her interview and that she has CHOSEN every bit of her life and she wouldn't change a thing. It's so incredibly disrespectful to act like she's an oppressed woman when she has publicly stated over and over again that that's not the case at ALL and she's living her DREAM.
Plural marriage at 19:58. As Latter-day Saints, we cannot escape that part of church history. @@stephtimms1776 Sounds quite catholic, but there was a reason we had a reformation, of which the LDS faith came out of as well. The Bible says God used to speak thru prophets in the past, but now has spoken thru His son and the Son is filled with the Holy Spirit and breathed upon His believers to also be filled. No prophet needed now because we have the Holy Spirit/God Himself dwelling in those who believe, and He gives leadership gifts which are recognized by others, I just heard from an LDS neighbor how horrible she felt doing Relief Society Presidency. What a shame to force people "by calling" them to serve outside of the spiritual gifts God has actually gifted them with!

Thank you.

I must admit I was intrigued by the body language and facial expressions displayed by everyone 🤔😊 All that aside, this interview made me think of our precious Elder Holland and his talk "I Am Him" in the October 2024 general conference, where he said:
"Jesus was a man of sorrows, the scripture say. He experienced sadness, fatigue, disappointment, and excruciating loneliness...If then the harder you try, the more difficult it seems...remember that it has been so for some of the most faithful and marvelous people in every era of time..."
"Also remember that there is a force in this universe determined to oppose every good thing you try to do. So, through the abundance as well as poverty, through private acclaim as well as public criticism, through the divine elements of the Restoration, as well as human foibles that will inevitably be part of it, we stay the course" Elder Jeffrey R. Holland 🙏💝💝💝🙏

#LDS4Life❤🎉
I just don't see what walking the paths of our Savior has to do with temple recommend cards, obligatory tithing, mission expectations, mandatory marriage for exaltation, filling church callings outside of one's spiritual gifting, etc.
@@janetspiritofthelivinggod6328
The law of tithing is really not a modern principle.
He truly is rooting for us.

I testify, the Holy Ghost will tell you the truth of all things, we only need to ask God if it's the true desire of our hearts to know....thanks for your videos guys ❤
Through these last few years, I have come to love you and your wife. You two are wonderful.
I love hearing your perspectives.
I love what you guys are doing!! It is so positive and powerful in bringing people together with different backgrounds and creating greater understanding for one another and dispelling myths and prejudices. Thank you! Never feel great about polygamy. But happy to wait to have all the answers. The Saviour has always played the major roles in my life.

Jesus Christ said that no one will be married in heaven. Women will not be sharing their husbands with other women for all eternity. 😢 The other women will not be separated from their families so a few men can practice polygamy. The true and living God doesn't damn people who deny the eternal principle of polygamy. D&C 132

Wow. This was an awesome and heartfelt conversation. Thank you Pastor Jeff, Sister McCullough and Sister Condie.
Dang, Joy is asking all the DEEP questions! I love it!
Gosh...I really like this woman. She is wise.
thank you
This is such a better representation of the *real* "secret" lives of 'Mormon' wives.
I really appreciate pastor and your wife intereview a LDS woman, and just being open minded without contention. Thank you.
What an open and honest watch.....thank you to each of you. Love that you are open on both sides of different faiths and believes. We all can do this and unite. AS an LDS member for over 48 years. I an having a problem with the my chrcuh LDS having an association with the WHO organization. I struggle with that.
Yikes, I would too!
@@valeried7210 can you give some examples?
@@briandavis6898 using the words "restoration" and "agency" a lot. Saying Jesus is a "big brother." There were others but I don't remember them off the top of my head.
@valeried7210 it is a restoration. The reformation wasn't enough to restore Christ's church. Agency just means free will as opposed to calvinists who believe that the majority of humans will be damned by no fault of their own. And as to brother Jesus, read John 20:17

I really enjoyed this wonderful, informative discussion, so much so that I immediately watched it again. Thank you. You are a beautiful couple and I appreciate Ganel-Lyn Condie's intelligence and way of explaining things.

You have a great way of sharing different ideas in a non threatening way. We need that now more than ever you are are providing a great example of what being Christian means. Thank you

This is absolutely one of the best Hello Saints episodes I’ve seen! My wife & I were spellbound by all three of you. Keep up the great work👍
@hellosaints, I have been following your channel from the very beginning. I've watched every episode you've done (some multiple times). I am a professional speaker, author, brain tumor survivor, wife, mother, and lifelong Church member. I would love to have a conversation with you about the role of women in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I believe there are many blessings, as daughters of Abraham, and daughters of God, that many women still don't understand. I have great perspective to share on polygamy, per today's episode, as well. Would love to have that conversation with you! Thank you for all the good you do, the bridges you've built, and the respect you've brought to your discussions. Ganelyn is a friend of mine and she did a wonderful job expressing her experiences, as well as our beliefs. Thank you. God bless.
Great interview. Faith seems very strong and I get an impression all involved are still on the faith journey,I am thrilled to know that.
I enjoyed that conversation, looking forward to the full interview
Love you guys.
Thanks for your efforts to share in a Christlike manner.
At 34:42. Women do not hold priesthood authority in the same way men do in the LDS church. However, pay close attention at what is said by both men and women at the veil. Women have priesthood powers as it pertains to them and their families. Women also have priesthood powers as it pertains to church callings.
We calibrated our girls advancement as we did our boys.our girls have been a blessing to the wards and stakes as our boys.

At 0:15. Evangelicals just don't understand the restored gospel concept. Many don't even understand the core doctrine of their own church.
So what church do you go to now?
22:00 the sealing ordinance is more about covenanting to BE a family under God. Like one Israel Nation under God. The covenant teaches the principle.
26 min in, its important to note that Christ is the adoptive Father. He is the creator of this world, and the Jehova of the Old Testament. As for the Sacrament, it is ALWAYS the most important aspect of the Church Sunday block.
Excellent on all three of your parts.
the lord started the change for women when relief socity was organized. the lord gives us line upon line presept upon precept. meaning learning and growing and having ability to follow through on the information and direction
Jordan Peterson said that women tend to care more about people while men tend to care more about things. It’s interesting that the first female saint guest you presented spoke so little about doctrine yet so much about relationship feelings.
Great comment! Maybe that has something to do with why Eve took the Fruit in the Garden of Eden. She wanted more people around, little ones 💖
@@stephtimms1776 , But, parenthood is the earthly equivalent to the heavenly relationship that God has with us. , All I know is the scriptures say that Satan tempted Eve with: “the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”
And when she made the decision, the scriptures said: “ And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof”
If you read D&C 132 all way through then you know that helping the widows was not the real purpose but it makes us feel better to think that way.

Everyone’s life is different. Iam,da and my life is nothing like hers, except I love and follow Jesus Christ.
I just don’t understand why you learn everything you can about the LDS church and not make it a search for truth? Sincerely curious: is it because you are afraid to find out that it could be true?
I would imagine opening up your heart to the possibility that it might be true would be, frankly, a bit overwhelming. It would mean changing so much.
Jeff's search is over. Now it's all about following the Truth, Jesus.
@@gibbssanchez5492 LDS are not unaware of our major differences. Trust me we already KNOW how we’re different. Pointing out the differences over & over isn’t convincing anyone of anything on either side.
It's mostly for money. Many people do this without ads on their channel. They have ads on as well as have something to sell.
A Quaker here...is it "by grace through faith" or "by grace through doctrine?"
Acts 1:20
Psalms 109:8; 69:25
James was killed with a sword, and he was not replaced.
Only men were apostles.)
The word apostle means one who is sent with a message. In a generic sense, it can apply to anyone. Paul was an apostle to the Gentiles.
Most of the New Testament was written by the apostles. Matthew, Peter, Paul, James, Jude, John.
@Elizabeth-rk3do interesting, thanks

It's not his word that never changes, It's God himself who does not change.
The Bible changes with every translation. Do not try to put on God what was never there (the obligation to make it perfect).
@@tcatt222 there was nothing lost, the scripture is clear Gods word is never changing and doesn’t pass away. So if He is telling us His word does not pass away, how do you believe it was lost? Mormonism teaching you to believe that the Bible isn’t enough, and that every translation is “wrong”. There’s no further discussion if you don’t believe that the Bible is the whole word of God and needs to be “restored”.

Maybe that’s her fault more than yours, but I had a hard time maintaining interest.
@@natedawg2020 the conversation was edited and not necessarily in order or context -- so part of issue is editing, not just the floor of conversation.
Why did the LDS church admit that Joseph Smith practiced polygamy back in November 2015? It made national news. 🤔
@Alicia-yn6gt
The true and living God the Father of the Bible is invisible and a spirit.
Isaiah 61:10
Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering Christ hath perfected forever them that are sanctified.
Romans 6:23
The wages of sin is death, but the gift 🎁 of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ganel-Lyn Condie spoke at my stake youth conference.
I think it’s fair to say that each woman who is a member of Jesus Christs church, raised in the church or not, will be different. We each come to our knowledge by completely unique circumstances and experiences.
Nice podcast. Do get Harper on and more Latter Day Saint women.
Thank you for your content, I wish I can talk to my fellow family members who are Protestant this way. It’s very hard to talk about religion differences and similarities. we just talk about God and Jesus in very general ways.
But Jesus laid His hands on the twelve and gave them the authority to lead the people well done on all of you.
Isn't it fair for LDS to feel that the reformation didn't go far enough?
Seeing as how it was not led by apostles and prophets, yes, that is an accurate statement.
Jesus Christ said that the church would never need to be restored.
Acts 1:6
The disciples wanted to know when the kingdom of Israel would be restored?
Acts 3:21
As long as Jesus Christ is in heaven, there will be no restoration.
@Elizabeth-rk3do if that were true, the church would never need to be reformed in the Middle Ages either.
We got indoctrinated by overshadowing the Bible and the Bom with false doctrines in the D&C and by men claiming to be Apostles without any evidence of the signs for the believers.
this interview is chaotic: she is not regulated, she is on and on all over the place
I don't think so. She seemed organized, but in a hurry... probably a bit nervous, which is understandable.
I agree. It's a bit of a train wreck. I think that it was my least favorite video of Hello Saints that I've seen to date. Only positive to me was the shout-out to Steven Harper.
to be fair Jeff did say this is not the full interview, and they did change the subject on her with new questions every so often.
@ShiningSakura Good point. Maybe the full interview is better. I just didn't like it. Maybe some people will like it. I was longing for an interview with meat, like Andrea Woodmansee on the stick of Joseph.
I felt quite the opposite-she had so many valuable things to share! Latter Day Saints are rarely given a safe space and the opportunity to share their beliefs (which are so often misrepresented or misunderstood )
When you love something or know something deeply or passionately, it’s exciting and you want to share! That’s what happens when you are vulnerable and truly love of Jesus Christ and your relationship with Him
Oh boy , she's all over the place.
I live in the Tennessee Knoxville Mission ❤

Sorry...this was hard to watch. To me...she speaks in word salads...
33:49 we believe both priesthood of believers AND priesthood keys. They are different levels. Just as Baptism and Temple are different levels.
Please explain priesthood of believers, as far as the doctrine or culture in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
@@stephtimms1776
In the New Testament, all believers, men, women, children, and even black people have been priests now for 2,000 years. It is not a position in a church. It is who we are in Christ. God himself has made us priests.
I Peter 2:5, 9
Revelation 1:6; 5:10
The true and living God is not racist. God never banned black people from the priesthood from the 1840s until 1978.
Of course, Jesus Christ is our living Prophet, Priest, and King!
@@Elizabeth-rk3do Why are you bringing up race? It has nothing to do with it. You are free to believe whatever if you want, but it doesn't change the fact that the Holy Bible teaches a man must be called of God by those in authority, as taught in Hebrews 5: 4.
In fact the current global membership of the LDS church has strong family history links to polygamy and polyandry. Over 20% of current members of the LDS church can trace their existence to a plural marriage.
False. Who did polyandry. I'll look it up.
Its all about the Priesthood AUTHORITY over all.
And Jesus was given all authority and gave it to us. Peter calls us all priests. Hebrews says Jesus is the only high priest.
@@janetspiritofthelivinggod6328 “And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.” ~ Hebrews 5: 4
@@stephtimms1776 And if we are followers of God it is because He HAS Called us!
@@janetspiritofthelivinggod6328 I believe that but that doesn't mean anyone can take on the authority of the priesthood. They must be called of God through other priesthood holders, through a true prophet.
Children leaving the church at 18:09. I know people of many faiths and Christian denominations. They all are dealing with the rise of secularism and the declining religiosity of Gen-Z and Millennial children. You ca do all the right things and your children can still turn their back on the church. The LDS church will have 86% of today's youth (ages 12-18) become inactive by age 25. That even includes people who grew up in the church and served missions. Some will even have married in the temple and still leave the church.
New to this channel and am a bit clueless about what all the terminology she’s using means.🤷🏽♀️
