      Yeah you can definitely feel the tension in the air between the two. Okamoto can hardly make eye-contact with Ariel lol. I think Bretts just mad that ESPN just completely embraced Ariel giving him so many different platforms to showcase his skills, while Brett probably thought he deserved that spot having been a company man long before Ariel.
      But rivalry aside, can we take a minute to appreciate how good and intelligent both these guys are. I wasn't mad at Okamoto disagreeing with Ariel at all because he mas making such poignant and valid points. These two are the kind of professionals that this sport desperately needs.
      Right call ESPN on hiring Ariel. There is no one more worthy for the job than him. And now if these two can just get along and be more friendly with each other, they can take these post-fight recaps to the next level! Do it for the fans boys. Much respect to both of you. :)

      @@coloredtimi1428 um ok... you could literally go down the card with each guy that lost and say they weren't expecting something. Max didn't expect Poirier to have such legit power and cleaning boxing, Anders wasn't expecting Khalil to abuse his leg, OSP wasn't expecting Krylov to go for a sub, Jouban wasn't expecting Grant to back up the majority of the fight and play counter puncher. It's fighting. Most wins come from a guy doing something his opponent "didn't expect". Kelvin rocked a guy that was 7-8 inches taller than him with a headkick, it was impressive.

      Tony won the interim belt of then ranked #7 Kevin Lee who is a washed up lightweight, when Conor was the champ. Conor didn't fight Tony for whatever reason. Then Tony had a chance to win the real belt against Khabib which he fucked up by tripping on the wire. He then came back to beat #8 Pettis. Whereas, Dustin has beaten a former champ in Alvarez, top 5 contender Justin Gaethje and now the feather weight champ Max Holloway. I am pretty sure Dustin deserves it more

    Going up in weight had nothing to do with tonight, Dustin just has more power and Max had a bad game plan. Max will be back at 55 and will do just fine.

      “Going up in weight had nothing to do with tonight”. How can you say something so retarded? That’s exactly how Max lost. You are talking about how Max wins. He’s not a KO artist. OK fine. But he lost. How did he lose? By getting stunned like we never seen before. We’ve never seen him at 155lb before tonight. It had everything to do with the weight. You literally said the power made the difference. Um, that power comes from the weight difference between the two.

    • @imranvp
      @imranvp 5 років тому

      I feel one of the main reasons why Max looked weak is because he took some massive shots from Poirier in round 1. He got rocked badly several times early in the beginning and it was hard for him to recover from that. When your brain is getting smashed around in the skull non-stop with those piston hooks from Poirier, it's not easy to be yourself. Still he dug deep and fought back like the warrior he is but he was weakened early on by the Diamond. Dustin had the perfect game-plan for Max. Do to him what he does to everyone else. Crowd him with punches until he wilts. It takes incredible cardio and crisp boxing skills to pull off but he managed to do it. So hats off to him.
      Max will definitely be back at 155. Just not with Dustin. Styles makes fights. And the Diamond is the Blessed's cryptonite.

    • @travistravis7190
      @travistravis7190 5 років тому +1

      @Lou Zer your a dumb shit, Max has spent few years making sure he can make a weight cut for 145. One fact is these lads cant cut muscle mass, only thing they can cut is fluid. If Max had fought 3 years in 155, he would literally have 10 pound more of conditioned muscle mass and that's after a weight cut!. Your say the weight had nothing to do with it? lool...your a dumbass

    • @travistravis7190
      @travistravis7190 5 років тому

      @Steve Legend Yeah for a guy Max's height, 145 is a hard cut. Only way he has been able to do it is to sacrifice body mass gambling that even though he's lean...he'll still have enough to beat the 145 guys. Like you said, a quick jump to 155 isn't going to do him any favours at all. He's lost too much mass to where its a big power difference now. If he was fighting a scrub it would have been fine but he wasn't .

      Cobra dude Im the biggest Holloway fan there is and he definitely did not win that fight. And damage does count. It's in the scoring criteria my friend. Max fought a good fight, I honestly thought he was going to walk away with it before the fight but there was definitive difference in damage and even if you go by rounds and look at shots landed. Besides the 3rd.. and maybe 5th? I had tough time giving it to Max. He just belongs at featherweight unless he is going to work on his build.. Dustiin just looked so much stronger and more powerful than him. Max would need to build his frame up a bit to be more like Tony to hang at 155.. still greatest 145er ever though in my opinion and gave one hell of a fight.. but he did not win that fight. I thought Max would pick Dustiin apart and I was very wrong. Dustin won that fight any way you look at it. Damage and he took 3 rounds. I knew Max needed a finish in the 5th as I'm sure many thought the same as well to win. No controversy

    The notion of Max losing to Poirier being indicative of him being too small for lightweight is a strange premise. It's a lightweight title fight... The implication being these guys are the elite of the division. So in a debut outing he loses to a top 3 guy... Therefore he must be too small... That's illogical. He's inexperienced at this division. Worth also noting that Poirier has beaten him before. He's likely got his number. Or he's simply better. That is not indicative of Max being too small. It's a roundabout way of taking away from Poirier's win.
