I remember my dad playing this song by Jack Green. Then by Ricky Shelton. I used to sing along with Ricky when I heard the song playing. I love this song.
Wow!! Ricky Van Shelton is one of the best country singers ever put on this earth, and that is my favorite song by him! Personally I like it so much better when he sings it alone, but even with a singing partner this song made me break out in goose bumps and get all teary eyed. I wish there were more songs/music done by this man, his songs, his voice is just amazing and I prefer his songs over any other country singer. Thank you so much Fil, this truly is one of my favorite country songs!!
Jack Greene is not his singing partner, He was the pioneer paving the way for artists like RVS!! Listen to Jack's version. The emotion of the song is the point! Jack had it too! We loved music of the 80's and 90's because of the legends before them.
@@cindyrichmond330 maybe I phrased that wrong, I know they weren't actually partners, I just meant for this appearance. I had never really heard of Jack Greene, I will check out his version. I have heard Rickys, as well as all his other songs that are available. I just love to hear him sing.
Nice performance by Ricky Van Sheltion the band. Jack Greene is best known for his 1966 hit "There Goes My Everything" always love the little details you point out Fil. 🤠
As a Rock/Metal guitarist I can never understand when Country artists are dismissed by musical snobs. I take just as much satisfaction and enjoyment in listening to Randy Travis, Alabama or Florida Georgia Line as I do from Deep Purple, Pink Floyd or Foo Fighters.

Hi Fil, first I am very happy you are doing better physically, you have been in my prayers !!! I am relatively new to your channel and I thoroughly enjoy and appreciate each and every one of them no matter the artist or subject material !!! I’ll be looking forward to watching so many more of your other videos, keep up the great work, stay well and God bless you.
Some of my favourite country music male singers of the 1980 are. Ricky Van Shelton, Alabama, Eddy Rabbit,Randy Travis and Keith Whitley . It is very sad that Keith died so early. He was only in his 30?
Once again, "this isn't going to be an instructional video." And yet I come away from every one of your analysis videos having learned something new. Always the teacher. 😊🎶🎶😊
Thanks for another cool analysis. I'm not familiar with these artists but Ricky Van Shelton's vocals & the slide guitar are giving me Patsy Cline vibes with an Elvis-y vibrato. He has a very rich beautiful tone. I thought you sounded reminiscent of Steve Perry when I first heard you sing so I get what you mean. Their vibratos sync up 🤭🖤🤘
Prof. Fil, once again you demonstrate your musical understanding as you enter the country music genre and provide a wonderful analysis of two great voices as well as comment on the similarity of vocal folds behavior to the slide guitar. You Rock in country music!
It's great learning about artists I am not familiar with on your channel. Nice song and harmonies by both artists and I can hear some Elvis in there as well.
Fantastic analysis Fil. Many thanks. Both Jack and Ricky were great singers. I always enjoy listening to them. Regarding country singers playing and singing I always enjoy Merle Haggard's and Willie Nelson's guitar solos.

WOP, as an old pedal steel player, your comment on the voicing of the steel and the human is right on. In my formative years, ( 50 years ago), my teacher and the other players I looked up to all made the same analysis and now you confirmed we weren't crazy. Keep up the great channel, as your talent is well appreciated by this old "bloke" from Arizona! PS. that "bloke'' term hit me when Herman used it in Mrs. Brown.
Very nice analysis. I hear the resemblance to Elvis in the vocals. And I did hear the slide guitar in the analysis and I thought it was someone singing at first. Funny how an instrument can sound like a human voice that software picks it up as a human voice. The two singers really do harmonize together very nicely. No one is trying to out do the other. Thank you, Fil for analyzing the two vocalists. There's always subtleties that are missed when one just watches and listens to a performance. Your analysis really help us understand what is going on with the music and singing styles.
Ricky was a true traditional artist that I’ve always enjoyed. I love the song he sang with Dolly, “Rocking Years”. Have you checked out Brad Paisley? Woo, what a fabulous guitarist!

Great observation Fil, thanks. This 'adjusting' to the other vocalist is awesome indeed; harmony vocalists of great esteem use this ability to colour their voice to the sentiment expressed by the lead vocal at that moment. It's a subtle ingredient inbedded in many favourite songs we still love to hear from performers through the years. Keep Rocking Fil, we are all ears.

Jack Greene got his big break when the legendary Ernest Tubb hired him as part of his backing band, The Texas Troubadors. Jack played drums, guitar, sang backing vocals, and served as emcee for Ernest. Jack was soon opening for Ernest regularly.
