I fly in heavy grass + woods and the difference is huge, while it is strange that signal bars gets lower faster, but actual image and penetration is not worse at all, its more like it is just harder to keep feeding 50mbps and thats all...
Took me a while to realize when you switch from 25Mbps to 50Mbps you lose the ability to select between eight (8) channels (in the USA specifically - FCC Reg.). On 50Mbps I'm now only getting three (3) channels (Channel 1, 2, and 8). DJI hasn't updated the user manuals yet so this can be confusing if your looking for 8 channels on 50Mbps. Anyone finding more interference issues now that your more limited with channels at 50Mbps? Just curious what people are actually flying....I'm using 50Mbps but lost a quad in the water yesterday so wondering if I might be getting less interference (more channels) back on 25Mbps....Just asking the question.
Hey, thanks for this video. I just updated mine and had a similar feeling about the seemingly lower latency and the video didn't seem twice as good but did seem better. With this update I now can get my batt voltage in the OSD with my old f3 board! I always find myself struggling to find the buttons on the goggles so I've started using the DJI transmitter to navigate the goggle menus. It's much easier with the scroll wheel.
There is a huge difference, just looking at your shots in the video especially the chimney. Look at the details on the house behind as well, you can also see all the wood clearly on the 50mb.
The whole point of 50mbit is the bitrate. Which you need when your moving fast. Try flying fast and low and then you will see the difference. As the the higher changes requier more key frames which make the whole 50 mbit shine
Wow even if it’s only 10% (I’d up that number some 😁) looks much better to me. Must try this. If you read this and got a sec🤔 (I’m sure you have a vid on this) but what’s the antenna setup and does it really help with penetration? I’m more interested in that than distance.
Bitrate is room where image quality lives. More bitrate more image quality can be squeezed. But keep in mind that raw image ( without compression) would be hundreds of megabits in second… so gettting better image quality will be harder and harder ) What could help is decrease bits per pixel. Not sure how much bita per pixel is now before compression...

It feels as if the compression around the outer edges of the fram has been toned down. You can really tell the difference when looking at things not in the centre of the frame
We need you to build a 5” racer and test on gates. I’ll be sharing my results soon, but your global ranking is higher than mine and we need top racers not just sportsman class like furadi and I to share notes on the latency flying at actual race speeds.

@@NURKFPV For sure, we all trust furadi's point of view, and I feel my notes are also helpful, but Furadi and I are both reviewers, racers, and also only separated by 3 places on the 2019 Global Qualifier rankings, so we are almost identical in speed, squarely in the middle of the sportsman class. I started flying DJI only about a month ago, and I noted after building my first race quad (video should be out in the next week or so), that I cannot tell the difference in latency using the up to date low latency mode vs an analogue Runcan Racer 2 nano, or Predator nano v4 with CRSF for control link. We need a higher ranking racing pilot who is faster to try modern firmware (not firmware from 8-10 months ago where many racers who tried and abandoned when there were more issues). I find myself reaching for my analogue quads on tracks less and less. But, i realize i may not be fast enough of a pilot to be affected by this latency wall. John E Fly is essentially retired, OldManFPV is retiring, Justin Skinner is MIA...you are the last true high ranking (top 30) racer still making content. Its all up to you now.
Air unit has on board dvr, caddx does not. Caddx Vista can take 6s voltage, Air Unit can only take up to 4s. Image quality and range are pretty much the same between them. Caddx is a smaller unit also.

Did you notice in the 50mpps mode you weren't seeing the the focus mode blur 99% of the time? Did you check if it's using multiple channels to accomplish this? Can other DJI or dare I say analog fly when you're using this mode? I read something about it using 8 channels to accomplish this. If so it's semi useless.
It uses 2 channels to accomplish 50 Mbit which is why you go from having 8 to having 4. They made some undisclosed / unpublished improvements to analog bleedover in this build too. You could have 3-4 pilots, analog or digital, in the sky in this mode, but not more than that. IT definitely does not use all 8 channels.
@@NURKFPV There is a place I want to revisit in the Philippines where there are tons of coconut trees. It's called Siargao. It is beautiful. I want to fly in between trunks once I get really better. I saw footages of DJI in the woods and it performed well. I guess if racing, analog wins.
If you are seeing 3 channels (2 + public) instead of 4 (3 + public) you need to do a "reset all settings to default" in the goggles, this is a known bug., You should see 4 channels in 50 Mbit mode. Also, a HUGE improvement with 50 Mbit is range! We were previously limited to 4 miles maximum before the signal would drop. This is no longer the case! Folks have already had it out to 7.25 mi and it may go even further! I've yet to see true max range even maxed out!
You will see the most difference when the camera picks up a lot of details. With 25 MBit/s not every detail can be encoded and you get pixelation despite having a perfect connection. In your test the sky that’s almost all blue takes up half of the image most of the time so it’s not surprising that we don’t see a huge difference here. The ultimate test would be to point the camera at some confetti or something similar.

I tested today the 50mbit mode and spectating does not seem to work in this mode. The spectator goggle does not see the three bonded channels, obviously transmitter tab is disabled . Anyone else tested this?
I changed the transmission rate to 50Mbit and the connection speed in the bottom right stays 25Mbit and I see no difference in image quality. What am I missing? How is this turned on?
Huh, my reaction was VERY different than yours. To me it was a night and day difference flying 25Mbps and 50Mbps. I didn't really notice anything being more responsive, but the clarity in the picture was a world of difference. But I'm primarily focused on using it on a track at high speed, which is where I think 25Mbps really struggles. The more the screen is changing the more the degradation in picture quality seems to happen. Focus mode almost never kicks in for me on the track anymore, or at least not significantly enough to be distracting, while with 25Mbps is feels like a constant horse blinder situation. Now if only 50Mbps supported more than 3 channels...
Clarity makes it feel more responsive as your frame of reference is sharper due to less pixel averaging compression artifacts. All it lacks now is resolution. Cue the next product mid next year. Please be 4K DJI (crosses fingers) 😆

Just look at companies like Samsung and Sony with regard to their 16K 32K and 64K TV's due over the next decade. Formats come and go just look chronologically since the 50's it's done nothing but accelerate. That said unless other companies step up to challenge DJI we could expect some intermediate products like 2K, 2.5K and perhaps 6K after 4K. None the less it will progress eventually.
there's no choice or option really for now, so either get used to it or don't use it I guess. I think if I had it and noticed lag, I'd be turning around real quick.
I hear you - it doesn't usually end up lagging but maybe has a little bit of a blocky chunk here and there - but it still does better than analog in most circumstances.
Great video 👍 Be careful with your dog. They've been known to run themselves to the point of exhaustion. Lots of dogs end up dying this way. I had to wait 10 mins between batteries for a buddies pitbull who just didn't know when to stop.
If the screen is blurry for you before because you wear glasses, 50mbs won't change anything really. The screen will still be blurry. It's not like the goggles have rotating lenses like on binoculars where you cna adjust the focal length. The diopters they sell (which are always out of stock) don't offer a real solution either - they are only for people who are far sighted, not near sighted. The people who rave about these goggles have 20/20 vision. Not everyone has 20/20 vision. Unlike sliding box goggles, you can't just move your eyes closer to the screen. Worse, if you're blind in one eye like I am, half the pixels on split screen goggles are totally wasted and unviewable. On box goggles, at least you can see all the pixels with one eye. Why they are showing the same pixel twice on two different screens blows my mind as incredibly dumb... it would make sense if they had two cameras and were offering a stereoscopic view... but they aren't even doing that. So split screen goggles with one camera make absolutely no sense - not a fault exclusive to DJI... fatsharks and others do the same d@mn stupid thing. If I block off one entire side of the goggles entirely with a piece of black paper, it's actually an improvement. Two screens is a total waste. Where's my big single huge immersive imax screen exeprienc like I was promised... lol... I'm looking at a 2 inch blurry screen an inch from my eye I can't move.

I just got done flying a few packs; come in and start watching this video. Right as your doing a yaw spin it cuts to an add...makes my brain think that I just failsafed or lost video or something. Just for half a second.
I think what changes the game is that DJI is continuously supporting and improving their product not just trying to make a quick dime. very impressed!

Also make sure you use one of the dji channels and not the public channel. That will keep you on 25mbps.

the way that the DJI headset lags rather than becoming noisier noisier makes me not trust it. do you get used to this or is it always weird
there's no choice or option really for now, so either get used to it or don't use it I guess. I think if I had it and noticed lag, I'd be turning around real quick.
I hear you - it doesn't usually end up lagging but maybe has a little bit of a blocky chunk here and there - but it still does better than analog in most circumstances.
If you are getting lag on frames check for multipath.

Be careful with your dog. They've been known to run themselves to the point of exhaustion. Lots of dogs end up dying this way. I had to wait 10 mins between batteries for a buddies pitbull who just didn't know when to stop.

If the screen is blurry for you before because you wear glasses, 50mbs won't change anything really. The screen will still be blurry.
It's not like the goggles have rotating lenses like on binoculars where you cna adjust the focal length. The diopters they sell (which are always out of stock) don't offer a real solution either - they are only for people who are far sighted, not near sighted.
The people who rave about these goggles have 20/20 vision. Not everyone has 20/20 vision. Unlike sliding box goggles, you can't just move your eyes closer to the screen. Worse, if you're blind in one eye like I am, half the pixels on split screen goggles are totally wasted and unviewable. On box goggles, at least you can see all the pixels with one eye. Why they are showing the same pixel twice on two different screens blows my mind as incredibly dumb... it would make sense if they had two cameras and were offering a stereoscopic view... but they aren't even doing that. So split screen goggles with one camera make absolutely no sense - not a fault exclusive to DJI... fatsharks and others do the same d@mn stupid thing.
If I block off one entire side of the goggles entirely with a piece of black paper, it's actually an improvement. Two screens is a total waste. Where's my big single huge immersive imax screen exeprienc like I was promised... lol... I'm looking at a 2 inch blurry screen an inch from my eye I can't move.

I just got done flying a few packs; come in and start watching this video. Right as your doing a yaw spin it cuts to an add...makes my brain think that I just failsafed or lost video or something. Just for half a second.
