A year ago prebuilt was the better option but now with prices going down it’s always better to build your own there’s many guides on UA-cam explaining step by step and it’s not rocket science it takes a few hours at most to build it and it’s always better if you do it when upgrading down the road you will know how to access certain cables etc. Also most prebuilts rip the consumer off using stock coolers, low ram speeds and low storage ssd’s etc.
The only reason to go prebuilt is if it is cheaper to source it for parts. Last month one could get a base model Victus 15L and the option to add a 3060ti was a $290 upgrade. The whole system was under $900 with the upgrade. Even without the GPU it would still have the 5600G and be a spare system. What I have learned is that the Ryzen platform should be avoided with prebuilts as most tend to have a locked down BIOS limited to JEDEC timings and completely discard the option for SmartAccessMemory. This is why I believe the AMD option tends to be cheaper. The case, motherboard, and PSU are immediate end of life products for me.
@@zeroturn7091 That's the issue I have with a lot of prebuilt computers is that they cut costs on things like you listed (mainly mobo and psu) oh yeah and airflow of the case lol.
I bought a Skytech pc with a 5600x and a 3060ti, NO BLOATWARE, also the only issue with the machine when it showed up was a [singular] fan was misconnected. 30 second fix right there. It had a proper 16GB ddr4 3200 kit in it, running at 3200 mind you. I hope to see them put more stuff out when the next gen hardware drops.
7:59 As someone who owned that PC, and upgraded it until none of it remained, Imma just say that thing is an absolute monster for the money. Hated the peripherals tho
I went to Costco and found a prebuilt with a 12th gen i7 and a 3080ti for 2,200, discounted from 3,000. It even came with a boot SSD and no hard drive.
I've been so thankful I scored a Skytech prebuilt from BestBuy in the weeks following the botched 3060 launch. Ryzen 5 3600 2060 Super for $999. I did not realize at the time what a unicorn I found. Within about a week, all prebuilts were snatched up for their insanely priced GPUs....
For those located in the U.S., Jawa is probably one of the, if not, the current best option for getting custom built PC's at great prices from professionals.
I'm glad I bought my prebuilt in 2020 but I definitely wish there was better info on the motherboards included in these systems... I definitely want to upgrade but at this point I'd be building out a new PC or at the very least need to upgrade CPU, Motherboard, and Case simply due to the fact that the proprietary nature of some of these builds makes it hard to properly upgrade...
I feel ya. Love what I got out of my HP Pavilion (Ryzen 5 3500/1650 super model), but I definitely want to salvage my gpu and storage to migrate to a new build.
I bought a killer IMO MSI prebuilt from Bestbuy 2 months ago for $1099 USD + tax. MSI case, B550m pro vdh wifi, 500gb m.2, 5600x, 6700xt, 16gb c16 3200. Only issue it had was XMP wasn't enabled, which was simple enough to fix. It's seen a hundred or so hours of gaming, no issues, all I've done so far was add more memory. Found the exact same kind. and I tossed in another fan I had sitting around, cause hey why not. Pretty much I really couldn't build a new system for cheaper, since I pretty much needed everything, my old rig was old.
No, because all of the pre-built companies are building atrocious computers with proprietary components, overcharging like there's still a GPU shortage, or both. I just added a Founder's Edition 3070 and 3080 to my cart no problem with Best Buy, on three separate occasions. So, why would I recommend someone like CyberPowerPC who is trying to charge $1,100 for a 3050-equipped PC when I know I could just recommend someone get the 3060 Ti or 3070 for $399 and $499 respectively, then throw in a Ryzen or Intel mid-tier CPU in something like a 4000D and end up paying roughly around the same price for a vastly superior computer?
Currys is a slay. It was a merger of Currys and PC World years ago and it's still weird walking into stores and seeing fridges and washing machines on one side and tech on the other.

@@Sync-is-goated I said its not a bad cpu. But it makes zero sense to buy one new when you can get a faster newer cpu on a better platform with newer memory and pcie generations for the same price. That’s the point. Not that its a bad cpu, just buying one for a new build is not the best idea.
Dawid, as a tech enthusiast from the UK I say you should go wherever, and buy from wherever you like. In fact the more likely you are to get a crappy experience, the more views you'll probably get lol There is no mecca for PC systems here, but some places you can try are SCAN, eBuyer, CCL Computing, Novatech, and DinoPC. 4:15 I'm still out over $800 from newegg because of a product they refused to warranty lol, they told me to buy a similar unit and that they would give me a VOUCHER for the difference. after purchasing it they told me that it didn't qualify and i'd need to wait for the product to arrive, send it back and then buy another product to get my refund. Needless to say, I'm not all that fond of purchasing from them any more.
Not a prebuilt, but I did order a "custom" built PC from skytech recently. Only a few weird issues, like one of my cooler fans being connected to the motherboard, but not to the cooler. (the chonky af noctua one with dual fans/heatsinks) Because the fan wouldnt fit with the ram installed lol, i just took it off and it cools perfectly fine which is nice. Then when I first plugged it in, everything turned on, but no display. Worked with live chat for like 3 hrs and determined it was somehow 2 bad ram sticks (I only got 2 so that sucked), luckily had backup ram laying around so could still setup my pc. Had to fight through multiple bluescreens during windows setup to update my graphics driver, which fixed that issue, was fun. My replacement ram came in, they 'accidently' only sent 1 ram stick, because yes (it came in a clear package that had a sticker for someones refurbished 1650 lol). Luckily that seemed to fix the issue for whatever reason, just 1 new stick along with 1 of the originals. Then i had to unplug my computer recently for reasons, and it did the same no display issue, didn't feel like dealing with them again so I tried updating my bios, ram works now. But still not brave enough to unplug my computer again to test it, in case its a much weirder issue. Overall, 8/10ish experience i guess. Everything was put together well (minus that fan lol), cable management is top tier and no new problems so far. Have heard there prebuilts are good as far as prebuilts go. edit: Also no bloatware, unless you count a very low resolution background. and maybe a url shortcut to their support page.
I thought neweggs drama was resolved, tbh they are really good with returns these days in my experience, bought a refurb iPhone in bad condition, and even when the seller was trying to prevent a refund, newegg stepped in and forced one, so I think people shouldn't judge them as hard as they are

There are a few prebuilt manufacturers in the UK that might be worth a look if you can get one in time. Scan have their own range of prebuilts, as do Overclockers, who I think also sell through Amazon. Just don't trust anything important to the train network right now!
I lucked out over Memorial Day weekend when my old PC died. I picked up the Gaming RDY LCIIBG215 system for $2099. Windows 11 Home, Intel Core i9-12900KF CPU, Z690 DDR4 MB, GeForce RTX 3080 10GB GPU, 32GB DDR4-3600MHz RGB RAM, 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, iBUYPOWER 360mm RGB Liquid Cooling Lian Li Lancool One Digital case Free 2 day shipping (I ordered Tuesday and it actually arrived Thursday) It's now out of stock with a list price of $2399. Don't think I can find a similar deal today except for a crappy Alienware equivalent.
Right at the start of cardgate when cards were starting to go up but pre-built sellers hadn't relisted at higher prices yet I bought a skytech unit that was good for price. Actually it was nice because the seller I assume accidently listed the base model and the slightly upgraded model (more RAM slightly better card) at the same price. Came with dual channel ram, updated drivers, and everything. Runs slightly louder with the stock cooler and I had to adjust the back fans rpms but otherwise no complaints for a pre-built. Looked 6 months later and the same listing was selling for $700 more.
That first Newegg pc that you spoke about I literally JUST had my roommate buy a couple days ago, he preferred a simple out the box prebuilt vs building one. I figured it being an 8 core cpu would give it time before it needs upgrades. So far it’s been alright pretty easy setup.
Wonder if any of the vendors like Scan UK , Overclockers UK, CCL , pcspecialist, Box, Ebuyer Chillblast, Punch Technology can hook you up with a ' pound for pound 'custom pc while in blighty? Maybe some still have physical stores where you collect your custom order or bought prebuilt.
I remember when computer shopping consisted of asking what processor starting with 80xxx it had, how much memory, and how big was the hard drive. I like weddings and wouldn't mind seeing a few clips from it.
Hey Dawid! I am in Aus and I decided to check pricing here. The GTX 1660 Super has come down from $899AUD to $439AUD. Pretty much what I paid 2 years ago just before the scalpocalypse. I am actually really surprised that they have actually come down so much because we really get screwed on pricing for everything down here.
it sounds silly but the components in the first machine are almost reasonably priced . 4 components, about 80-100 each separately . cpu, board, ram and psu . Any thing else is extra value really . This is in Canadian dollars mind you . you get a case and some fans plus minimal storage as well. delivered to the door and built already , there is a decent argument to be made . bare minimum rig with near bare minimum pricing .
Right now, (at least based on what I've seen) the prebuilt market seems to be getting a bit of a resurgence in major manufacturers, but in the form of cheap workstations which have almost sleeper-like qualities. An example is the HP Evnvy TE01 with 16gigs ram, 256 gigs ssd, 2tb hdd, rtx3060 12gig, i7(I dont remember exactly which), and all costing 1000 USD last time I checked. I can't say much about the airflow, but it seems pretty reasonable. Overall seems like a pretty good deal imo.
What about buying the CyberPower PC at 8:00 and testing the crap out of it. It could be a video I could kind of watch whatever length it takes. I finally got my rig running after 2 years of struggleling and savings and crisis and crypto, war (x570+5800x+32GB 3200MHz+6700xt+4K TV+850wGold). Cheers from Argentina. I love your videos by the way!.
I'm really surprised that Micro Center still has that 12400F/6600 combo for that price - would've thought they bumped the price up by now, but apparently not.
Just say no to anything pre-built. Reason 1) You will void any warranty if you add or change anything on the pre-built. This is in all the legalese of when purchasing a pre-built. An example Dell will say product can no longer be serviced because you replaced a fan on any of their computers. How do I know this? Try working in a pawn shop. Customers have come in and wanted to sell their decent powerful computers after they have found out they voided their warranty by replacing a couple of fans in their computer.
SkyTech is pretty good, the last company I worked for bought one for my CAD workstation. The only downside is the GPU, then, was not what was advertised (number of video output ports).
I hope you and Anna have a great trip! FWIW I actually bought a "refurbished" Skytech Archangel >Ryzen 5 5600X, RTX 3060 TI (Zotac Gaming), 1TB NVMe SSD, 16GB DDR4 3.2< for $1300 total shipped (US) a month ago through Newegg. It arrived very well packaged and shipped, and is very well put together with real parts. Cable managed well too. Zero bloatware (other than Windows itself trying to get me to upgrade to 11- which is not a good idea on Ryzen right now). Only issue was it had a regular SATA drive instead of NVMe and I got that resolved easily enough. Newegg support was fast to help (Maybe Gamers Nexus really did make them change). Temperatures and noise are also not bad- I was expecting worse with the solid front panel but the top fans seem to really help (why do people keep designing PC cases with solid fronts?). I would totally recommend them for prebuilds. Shopping price only matters if you are getting something worth getting. All the propriety crap and cut down parts on even "gaming PC" Dells and HPs make me sad.

What I have learned is that the Ryzen platform should be avoided with prebuilts as most tend to have a locked down BIOS limited to JEDEC timings and completely discard the option for SmartAccessMemory. This is why I believe the AMD option tends to be cheaper. The case, motherboard, and PSU are immediate end of life products for me.
i can get a 3060ti prebuilt at the moment for cheaper than it would be to build it myself.
@@zeroturn7091 That's the issue I have with a lot of prebuilt computers is that they cut costs on things like you listed (mainly mobo and psu) oh yeah and airflow of the case lol.
@@JudeTheUA-camPoopersubscribe what is the prebuilt called
DAWID WHERE ARE YOU? IM GOING THROUGH WITHDRAWAL WITHOUT NEW VIDEOS.
8:36 I would totally rock this case. Just needs a sticker of Q-Bert on the front.
If you're getting a UK PC, consider scan or overclockers, pc world if you want to do the a vloggy part, they do have other stuff on display like TVs
For those located in the U.S., Jawa is probably one of the, if not, the current best option for getting custom built PC's at great prices from professionals.
Enjoy the time off .... congrats to Anna's sister! :)
I'm way too interested in that power button pc.
Does the PSU look trustworthy? When you build a PC yourself, the PSU alone can easily eat more than a 100 bucks, if you want a reputable one.
holy frick u lucky
One of these days Dawid is going to get a prebuilt with 2 sticks of ram but... 1 stick is real and 1 stick is rgb filler ram.
Don’t give them ideas
Next thing you know, Corsair will release 'RGB RAM Covers' and charge 50$ for a set of 4, 2 of which you likely won't even be able to use.
If you want great prebuit, go to Germany (memorypc, dubaro, etc...)
Decent builds at decent prices !
YES!!!! Another one of these after months!
So the answer is a solid "it depends," at best.
I guess I'll take it.
Dawid! I was quite disapointed on your 10700F reaction. I have the i7-10700 and this CPU is a BEAST!
its old though lacks pcie gen 4 and doesn’t even offer 4 cpu lanes to an nvme and you are on a platform with basically no upgrade path. Its not a bad cpu, but it makes zero sense to buy with the prices of current alder lake and zen 3 cpus.
@@BeatsbyVegas its age doesnt show yet i have an i9 10900k and it works just fine no one is buying a 10th gen over a 12th gen but there not bad at all. 2 years is older ig but most 8th gen cpu's still work just fine other than a lack of features even the old i7 3770k can still put out very good frame rates for its age
@@Sync-is-goated I said its not a bad cpu. But it makes zero sense to buy one new when you can get a faster newer cpu on a better platform with newer memory and pcie generations for the same price. That’s the point. Not that its a bad cpu, just buying one for a new build is not the best idea.
@@BeatsbyVegas 👍
Dawid, as a tech enthusiast from the UK I say you should go wherever, and buy from wherever you like. In fact the more likely you are to get a crappy experience, the more views you'll probably get lol
There is no mecca for PC systems here, but some places you can try are SCAN, eBuyer, CCL Computing, Novatech, and DinoPC. These places all have physical locations you can visit, and they're fairly well spread out. Hopefully one or two of them are near you.
Safe journey, and dear God wear a mask for your own sake. Covid cases are up 30% this week, and the last thing you need is to be stuck quarantined
I love microcenter. I’m about an hour drive from two microcenters. I’d gladly make that trip if I’m looking for a prebuilt pc.
The curry's Tornado one is a solid deal tbh. Back during lockdown, got one and sold the pc and gpu apart and made some decent money to build a budget pc (since i don't really game that much nowadays) and have some spare money left.
So you're basically a bragging scalper Lizzie........... meh.
@@buggerlugz6753 A scalper buys off everything in stock whereas here i just saw an opportunity to make a bit of money. Not more than i needed. Thanks for the compliment though.
overclockers also in the uk. UKGC based in essex build pc's. both good companies
There is a seller on ebay that sell pre built RTX 3060 PCs for $500-$600 can you do a video on that?🙏
G'day Dawid & Anna,
Hope you have safe flights & a Wonderful time with Family in UK
Dawid when are you gonna post again come on I need some content 😩 😫
"Got a really pretty window that looks at your fans struggling"
Next time you do a pc comparison you should buy BeamNG and look at the fps on it. BeamNG is a very intensive game, it costs 24.99$
Now isn't the time to get a Pre-Built system. It's the time to appreciate used hardware market... based on the games you play. 😎
Prebuilts aren't very good deals atm, cause their price don't drop as fast as GPU prices, there's a delay
Something stinks about the fact that you have a notice before "odering" the Aliexpress Disney pc.. :D
I bought a Skytech last year. They really don't have any bloatware.
David you KNOW you have to buy the pink Disney AliExpress PC. You need this in your life, we all do
ETA Prime already did 11:11 the power button can turn to adjust default clock speeds
I think the dude that said "don't go looking for an SSD" didn't know what an m.2 is.
Relatable tech commentary, I like.
Great fun as always, thank you. Enjoy your time away!
I thought neweggs drama was resolved, tbh they are really good with returns these days in my experience, bought a refurb iPhone in bad condition, and even when the seller was trying to prevent a refund, newegg stepped in and forced one, so I think people shouldn't judge them as hard as they are
Dawid you’re awesome, I love all your content! Even though I don’t actually own a pc lol keep up the hard work! Can’t wait for your new content, congrats to Anna sister!
I mean, that MSI system from New Egg comes with an unknown monitor and a headset... clearly worth the extra money
"Dawid Does Pre-builts", have my thumbs up! 👍. On a side note, I highly recommend PC Specialist in the UK.
Can second PC Specialist, they have been excellent with me, would happily buy from them again.
Def want you to buy the M.O.A.B. and check it out!
There are a few prebuilt manufacturers in the UK that might be worth a look if you can get one in time. Scan have their own range of prebuilts, as do Overclockers, who I think also sell through Amazon. Just don't trust anything important to the train network right now!
Dawid, where'd you go?
I lucked out over Memorial Day weekend when my old PC died. I picked up the Gaming RDY LCIIBG215 system for $2099.
Windows 11 Home,
Intel Core i9-12900KF CPU,
Z690 DDR4 MB,
GeForce RTX 3080 10GB GPU,
32GB DDR4-3600MHz RGB RAM,
1TB M.2 NVMe SSD,
iBUYPOWER 360mm RGB Liquid Cooling
Lian Li Lancool One Digital case
Free 2 day shipping (I ordered Tuesday and it actually arrived Thursday)
It's now out of stock with a list price of $2399.
We don’t really have many physical stores in the UK for computers, land is too expensive and margins are too low
I remember when computer shopping consisted of asking what processor starting with 80xxx it had, how much memory, and how big was the hard drive. I like weddings and wouldn't mind seeing a few clips from it.
Yess dawiddd keep the grindd going
Overclockers UK is the one to use! Hope you have a good trip over there :D
don't forget about memory express they even have a build your own rig section. Located across canada.
It feels like that confused MSI review was a troll just having some lols.
Are you a bot?
I’ve bought from skytech pcs and can say there is zero bloatware
I really like your videos. Even if they don’t address me directly, I enjoy the look and feel of your videos. Thanks!
If u have any diamond powder u should mix it with ur thermal paste and use in on ur cpu it will go down by 3°c
(Just an estimate)
Yup, UK stock includes tax. Which you'll find out about when you go PC shopping here post wedding.
Enjoy :)
Will be a real eye opener I think.
@@buggerlugz6753 Quite possibly..
Loving the name :D
Have fun in the UK Dawid!
I am starving for more Dawid tech content but I hope you’re enjoying the UK!
Welcome to the UK and hope you have a good time :)
I recommend going INTO Currys and getting them to sell you a PC ;)
Just say no to anything pre-built. Reason 1) You will void any warranty if you add or change anything on the pre-built. This is in all the legalese of when purchasing a pre-built. An example Dell will say product can no longer be serviced because you replaced a fan on any of their computers. How do I know this? Try working in a pawn shop. Customers have come in and wanted to sell their decent powerful computers after they have found out they voided their warranty by replacing a couple of fans in their computer.
I just noticed that the first 499 prebuilt of amazon had some watercooling in the advertsising
Loved the comment on UK including Tax as it should be. Yes Is ridiculous to think that prices in Canada and USA are excluding local taxes. Its just dumb and makes no sense.
Look at Scan 3XS systems when you're in the UK. They're awesome.
:/
Welcome to the UK enjoy your stay ... have a look on fb market place you might pick up a bargain
At this point we can build the PC we want for just over MSRP and budget builds are back looking at you Ryzen 2600 and rx6600
Wishing you safe travels.
A note. The Acer Orion uses *the same motherboard* as the Nitro, so it's just cursed BS in a fancy looking box.
So, when does your Disney PC arrive? ;) Also, that case in the first Microcenter PC is a Lian Li 205 Mesh. Great case, and same one I use
I just bought a pre built the one you said was good on Best Buy and I love it thank you good sir
In the UK AWD it make the best prebuilts for the price
Hey Dawid any chance you could show Best Buy Canada results too?
Oh man. You're in the UK?! Don't be fooled by the relatively good weather, we normally have nothing but rain and clouds here and this is our 1-2 week heatwave before it returns to normal...
