    Those shorts for both gals and guys are great! You do such an amazing job on a front fly zip! Zips are my nemesis. I got a kick out of the blooper at the end. 🥰

      Well Theresa.....zip fly fronts are not normally a problem for me and I have to say that Kwik Sew instructions are wonderful BUT, the shorts I have made this week from a French Pattern....the zip was a disaster 😂. I think it really is down to the pattern now. Thanks for watching 🧵😊

    Such a fun video, love the blooper, the look on your face is priceless. You definitely have a lot of patterns. I've been sewing a long time, but my pattern collection for my size clothes is about one quarter the size of yours. However, my pattern collection for kid's patterns is much larger, three drawers. I do reuse a lot of my patterns. The ones that I reuse the most I trace off onto light weight Pellon (non woven interfacing) They don't rip and they will last a long time. I cut out and sewed up eight pairs of pajama pants and shorts for the grandkids in the last few days. My sewing room looked like a pajama factory. I still have a few more to go. Have a great week, thanks for sharing.

      Carol you have been a sewing demon with all those PJs, well done! I did manage to make one pair for my daughter this week 😂. Great tip about tracing onto pellon thank you for that.

    Happy Tuesday, Carole: What a great series for a pattern review! LOVE 🥰 your M7122 dress; the print is perfect for that style for a spring/summer dress. And your Burda 6501 bias top is so, so pretty and feminine! I've been looking for Burda 6450 for a while now. JoAnn's had a recent sale on Burda patterns, but half of what was on my Wish List weren't available at either of the 2 stores I went to. Your blooper at the end was funny. 😂 Didn't know what to expect. I had a dual portable hanger similar to yours. One night, it decided to break and fall apart. My tennis and golf clothes (that I used to wear) were all over the floor. I took one look at the mess and let it lay there. Wasn't in the mood to deal with this problem. Always look forward to your Tuesday and Friday vlogs! They make my day. 🙂Back to housework for me! xx Dori

My realtor check in just last week to see if they had bought anything yet - nope! Oh well. I just counteroffered today on 2 offers. We'll see how this goes. 🙏🏻🤞🏻🍀

      That makes me really happy to read your comment. I feel I am a bit of an outsider in the UK sewing world as most sew Indies (with a few exceptions). I have never understood why really. Never feel guilty!! 🤣. I know what you mean though, I get so excited when I find another vlogger sewing the Big 4 👏🏼I'm happy to sew the Indies but I do find them incredibly expensive and most of the designs have already been done by the Big 4. I also find all their sizes and methods confusing as I've sewn the Big 4 all my life. Just enjoy what you sew and at the end of the day, if you like the results it doesn't matter how you got there 🥰. You are quickly becoming my go-to video for a sewing giggle! I was thinking of you yesterday, Carole, as I was digging through the Simplicity Patterns at our local Joann store, which are on sale for $2.99 each. Not knowing what the future holds for our little store, I did pick up several! So far, the sales for sewing gear and fabrics don't appear to be any different than their normal summer sales. Keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't one of the stores that will close in our area.

    • @socarole66
      @socarole66  Місяць тому +1

      Thanks for watching Anne. I am extremely lucky in the fact most of the Big 4 patterns fit me without many alterations. I only ever have to adjust length, take in a side seam here and there, maybe add a dart or ties and shorten sleeves. Most people can do those so that is why I don't show them. I don't have to do any FBAs or Crotch length adjustments etc luckily! However most people tend to go to other bigger channels for help on altering and I have to say, whenever I do look into it there are so many different methods out there! So confusing. I am happy to be more explicit from now on though on any adjustments I do make. 🧵😊

    Carole, when I started sewing again last year, my mother thought she would, too, and chose to sew up the Butterick 6730 (the green top you wore here) she was super disappointed in the neckline finishing and I have the WIP here to finish now so that she may wear it once before it's tossed. Does the pleated section REALLY wrap over the gathered bodice AND its neckline facing??? It's just weird. Looks good from the outside, though.
    I've read 2 reviews of this pattern and neither mentions it.
    Thanks for responding.

      Thanks so much for watching and your comment. That pleat detail, I need to get the pattern back out again as it was just weird I remember it now. I also want to check what I said in the video where I originally showed it. I think if I remember rightly I fudged a lot of it with hand sewing as the instructions didn't make sense. You are the second person to mention this so I am going to get it out and have another look. It came out ok in the end so I need to figure out what I did.

    Thanks for summer themed pattern presentation. Always inspiring. Question: do you tumble dry your viscose jersey fabrics? I have steered away from some beautiful fabrics because of recommendations to line dry. I am curious. Thank you.

    • @socarole66
      @socarole66  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks for your comment and question. Whenever I buy fabrics I always wash them at 20c and tumble dry them on a low heat as I figure then, if it is going to shrink it will 'get it out of it's system' before I start sewing it!
      I do line dry most of my clothes at this time of year but wouldn't hesitate to tumble dry if I needed to after this. I am pretty sure they do shrink initially and quite often they twist. I have made a lot of things from Viscose jersey and providing I follow my washing rules, I haven't had a problem. Good luck! 🧵😊
