  • Shows doing a drain and fill for the antifreeze "coolant" for a 2010 Toyota Highlander, Limited, 3.5L, V6. Also, I change the lower radiator hose. Check your local regulations for proper disposal of antifreeze.

Jim Dandy, the new coolant from Toyota that you put in is labeled "50/50". It's pre-diluted. But thanks for the tip on draining through the lower hose. I would have struggled trying to open that petcock.

The coolant came full strength. At 10:10 the label you see saying 50/50..... is one I printed and affixed to the factory jug after diluting to 50/50 with distilled water.

Thank you sir. Very helpful video. Keep up the good works. What would you use in New York, diluted or non diluted? Temp in New York is low -10 (rarely) and high usually up to 100 degree.

It always needs to be diluted! 50/50 mix works for almost everywhere, unless it gets below -34F, then go 60/40 (40% water).

Interesting video to say the least and relatively informative. I'm pretty sure there is a CFR the EPA would sight on pouring any antifreeze down the toilet, the SDS has all the information needed and that, and this falls under federal law which supersedes state and local law. The main drain pit cock is designed to slide a tube or hose over for a controlled drain of the fluid for what it's worth.

Wow you’re an interesting guy to say the least. Now I’m scared the EPA/Fed’s/SWAT are going to be breaking my door down in a pre-dawn raid for alleged improper disposal of antifreeze.
SDS, CFR, EPA, being CITED, Federal Law Supersedes State or local laws/Codes… Sounds impressive, but lookup the SDS on rubbing Alcohol (90% Isopropyl Alcohol) or fingernail polish remover (Acetone) and you’ll get really freaked out. Spill that down the sink and you’re off to Federal Prison. You probably have yours stored in a flammable cabinet.
I’m glad you’re not my neighbor because you’d be calling me in for some over-spray on Weed-B-Gone (2-4-D).
The petcock may have a fancy design, but they breakoff/snap, get plugged, and some “engineer” put this one in a place that’s very hard to reach.
Call your local car parts store and ask what to do with used antifreeze and get back to us.
Thanks for all your helpful comments.

@@jimdandy6472 That's funny, perhaps you should call the local auto store yourself, I'm guessing they aren't pouring used antifreeze down the toilet. And while you're at it give the state AG office a call and tell them what you are suggesting to us. Please be sure to post their answer for all of us to read.

@@timbailes8091 Funny how you keep saying perhaps, I'm pretty sure, etc. I did call the auto parts store and they said pour it down the drain, that's why I suggested you do the same, but you would rather appear to be smart and be "pretty sure", and "guess", and throw out a bunch of acronyms, and recommend I I call the Attorney Generals office. Who says things like that, not mechanics!
I say in the video it should be properly disposed of, and at 8:32 I pop up text saying "to check local codes, but to make you happy, assume I drove 300 miles and paid $500 to have 1/2 gallon of antifreeze incinerated.
Let use know what your local auto parts store recommends, assuming you don't live in CA, where you can crap in the street, but not pour antifreeze down the sewer.

@@jimdandy6472 Well, I don't live in CA I'm delighted to say. But I do have about 270 hours of HAZMAT training if you even know what that means, not that it would matter. And I was also referring to what you said @ 13:15.
My home of record is the state of hawaii, (I'm in the military overseas at the present time) and they like ever state follow the CFR's, and since you don't know what that stands for it is the Code of Federal Regulations. And I "did" check and in Hawaii licensed auto parts stores will take used oil, antifreeze, brake fluid and know telling what else for proper disposal.
So instead of just coming up with BS, you could just say thanks for the info, and it would end there. And I will try not to grind on you and to be more helpful as I know that's all you are trying to do with your videos.

Yes, please don't grind on, and stop the insults and implying I don't know what all your fancy acronyms are. Most people who watch UA-cam just want to get something done and aren't impressed by your 270 hours of HAZMAT training.

Most Quick change Lube businesses will take your used fluids for ya. Or they have for me but I’m a foxy young babe. 😁
