In this vlog-style video, I wanted to show you the process I go through to find a shot.
Yes, I had a plan for this one. Something I’d seen on a map that I wanted to discover.
But, by letting the landscape and light around me do the talking, I was guided to a composition I’ll cherish forever.
The joy of landscape photography is in the adventure, connecting with nature, and experiencing these epic scenes, which inspire the storyteller inside.

Feeling the stoke in this one, Will! Got me pumped to visit one of my fave rainforest areas in the next couple of days. I 100% agree that just being there and seeing it makes it all worthwhile. The photography just provides the added motivation to get out there.

I know when I go out to find that one shot or gem of a picture, I enjoy the outdoors and a lot of times while looking for that gem, I will come across others that I wasn't expecting. Just being outdoors looking at nature and capturing its beauty is exciting. I think you captured that in this video, Thanks again!

Oh mate!!!! You can't top that kind of moment and experience. . . .surely. So much to enjoy in that morning. The light, the mist, the calm lake (on the way over to begin with! Hahaha), the colour of the water, the greens, oh those greens . . . . .the sense of human absence and nature in its full raw beauty. That bit especially. Thanks for taking us with you Will. Magnificent location. Pity the waterfall wasn't accessible. It reminds me of some of the waterfalls in the Columbia Gorge in Oregon. Absolutely beautiful.

Stunning Fiordland forest and river. So true that not every scene is going to result in a image and that it is all about enjoying the moment. But you did end up with a great image, the colours and lighting is beautiful. Such an inspiring video Will, thank you for sharing this one.

Magnificent place. The gorge reminds me of a spot on the North Island where we had to wade over our heads for about 5 meters with Carolyn on our guide’s shoulders and me holding up our gear above the water surface. Beautiful shot of the ferns framing the mist.

Hey will, I've been looking at getting the 12-24mm do you rate it over the 16-35? Did you have to focus stack this shot as well?
I definitely rate it. The wider the lens, the more creative possibilities. I didn’t even have to stack this. Definitely wish I got the lens sooner.
