With all the comments you may not read this but I bought a1975Celica new in early March of 75. The car was made in late 1974 , the outlet in the glove box was for a 12volt emergency trubble light that came in the tool kit and had what looked like a 110 house hold plug. Really enjoy watching you build this car
MR2 please. Just dont stop on the build. I just get amazed at your knowledge of wiring and building. Always a step ahead and seeing most of the issues before they turn into problems. Great as usual. ❤
I agree, and after working restoring and customizing old Jeep's and 4x4 trucks in Pennsylvania I know doing a full build or restoration RIGHT takes time.
Harry here in Toronto. Hi Sarah - I so enjoy and look forward to each of your videos. Thanks for everything you do, which by now, represents YEARS of pleasure and inspiration!
Sarah = Your wiring videos show that you have the patience of a Saint. NEVER lose your drive to do the job the right way and maintain your high standards. It is noticed and appreciated.
The AC may still be doable with a new condenser, but I totally understand that you have very little room to work with and cooling the motor is much more important than AC. Amazing build. You have a great channel. I can't believe how many videos you have on it. You REALLY work hard on your channel and it's content. It really shows. You deserve many more subscribers than you have, hopefully many more people will subscribe.
Nah, I bolted the grill on and re-measured. I actually barely have room to get a cooling fan in there with just the radiator pushed all the way to the grill. A condenser is 100% not possible, not even a half-size one.
Your other wire strippers are on the shelf with the soldering iron and the multimeter with the dead battery. The Tupperware lids and missing socks are to the left.
Loving this project. You've got blokes in Melbourne Australia talking about it at smoko. And "carefuling", also being now used down here. We do still have a few of this model of Celica, rhd, around here. Great channel. Stu. Melbourne
It's the best feeling when your random spare parts bins, drawers, buckets has what you need. Bonus points if the spare parts remind you of an older project. Cheers!
Your build videos are the most thorough and explanatory in detail than anything else I've seen on the 'tube's. Your delivery style keeps attention span alive. Thank you for quality content 👍👍👍
That outlet in the glovebox came with a little 12 volt DC drop light. It's the same dimensions as a US spec AC outlet. A lot of people tried to plug them in inside their house. The results were interesting to say the least. Not a surprise the quit including that feature.
You’re just so over the top on a build, you are a wonderful watch on UA-cam, you do everything we lazy people want to do with our builds. And just to say thank you and you’re amazing !!!!!!!!
A/C is used for Defrost, so it's still useful in those northern states. Also, if you REALLY wanted to, you can get custom A/C condensers in any size and shape. And yes, you CAN split one big condenser into multiple small ones. The popular electric A/C conversion for old 911s typically has a condenser in front of the driver's front tire. It works despite not being in the typical "front of the radiator" location.
I don't know why this video series has just been such a chill watch. I love throwing on car builds in the background and so many are either frantic car building messes or slow meandering stream-of-thought single cams; this series is right up my alley. Thanks for the vibes!
@@SarahnTuned Regardless the AGM under the rear hatch in my Q5 is vented to the outside from the factory. Use the hole in the battery, that's what it's there for. Incidentally bees also love the hole in the battery when it is sitting out. I had to keep chasing them away.
The seatbelt interlock was more than a happy buzzer. If you tried to start the car more than 3 times with the seat occupied and the seatbelt not connected, the interlock would need to be reset by a little switch under the hood or no start for you.
This needs more up votes. Don't troubleshoot the car starter until you verify this system works. Years ago I helped a friend with a '74 Monte Carlo with a no start condition. The government mandated circuit wasn't listed in the wire diagram. We almost replaced the starter until we figured this out.
All 74 Vehicles sold in the US had the seat belt interlock. If the front seats were occupied, the engine would not crank without your seat belts being worn. It was so problematic stranding so many people that it was a one-year thing only. And, people who had 74s bypassed the system (with the government's blessing) by pulling the connector under the driver and passenger seat that sensed an occupant. There was a red button usually mounted on the driver's side inside fender. You could pop the hood, push the button, and start the car without belting up. It was for emergencies when the system failed and you needed to start the engine. My Mom had a 74 Pinto. I restored a 74 Firebird. I yanked the whole system and used a 75 Firebird diagram to re-wire it. BTW, in my Firebird the relay box was behind the dash near the heater core. Please yank the whole system, everyone else did!
This car will be meant to drive with the windows down. Not a daily. If AC doesn't fit, pick your days to drive it. I'm in West Texas and I'd be thrilled to win this thing. And thank you, Sarah, for doing such a great job on this car! I've always loved the micro-muscle car design from the Japanese automakers during that era. And the gold paint is perfect. And the wheels. I'm drooling, here.
Don't be sorry, this is all awesome and I love the fact that you have continued with the wiring. Every step is important and I will continue to watch every video in this series.
I've found a short length of garden hose makes a fine bushing/grommet for thru penetration chafing protection as with the welding lead from the trunk thru the frame and firewall. BTW, we used to mount old Celica seats in vw beetles for greater comfort.
I think your videos are great. I appreciate that you fully restore the vehicles you work on. I feel that there are too many car revivals out there that just get a car running enough to get them down the road. These classics deserve to be fully restored, not left to rot.
Most of them I'll agree with you on, those rare survivors are my exception (the likes of a well stored barn find) after all, they are only original once.
The AC compressor on your grandfather's truck was probably used a whole lot. Most vehicles since the early 90s run the AC when the defroster is turned on so it's blowing dry air on the windshield. Much more effective.
