    Thank you so much for this video. Had to do this for my 97 civic just now, it apparently was very overdue to the point where even with the trans in gear it still wanted to roll, and I had to use a pen just to get to my parking brake button 😂. Job done, 9 clicks, thanks again!

      That’s definitely scary! Glad you can use your e-brake again!!

    I’m constantly amazed how coins find their way under everything in a vehicle. I found an uncirculated silver dollar wrapped in a plastic case behind the molding of a ‘97 Ford Taurus! Thanks for this video. Shows how simple some things are to fix.

    The rear wheels need to be off the ground to check they spin when the handbrake is off.

    If you have a long socket you can adjust it without having to take out the armrest

    This has to be done with force of 20KG or around 44lb. The “7” clicks means nothing without that. I can pull much harder then someone else for example.
    Also it’s 6 to 10 clicks range if I remember not “7”. When you start getting to 10 clicks we adjust to 6 and you have 4 clicks wiggle room.
    The above is according to Honda service manual so not open for debate.
    If you do not have the means to apply accurate force (and even if you do) you need to lift the back of the car to make sure the wheels move free and the brakes are not dragging when you handbrake is off. You WILL burn the rotor and pads by overheating them otherwise.

    I have a question. What if the button is sunk in?

      There’s likely a problem with the return, it’s pretty easy to take the center console off to find out what’s going on it there (6 Phillips head screws)

    I got a question so i’m trying to fit the right side of the drum brakes on, but the drum won’t fit. Is that the reason why it won’t fit because my ebrake is not adjusted cause the left side on my drum brakes, it fits perfectly

    • @GirlieGarage
      @GirlieGarage  5 місяців тому

      When putting new shoes on for your drums, you need to adjust the star adjuster so it’s more narrow then the new shoes will fit inside the new drums, also if you don’t feel comfortable, these are your brakes and super important, so make sure you consult a professional in your area or we can set up some consulting time to FaceTime and make sure you are comfortable

      @@GirlieGarage ok ok I think found out why the drum won’t fit on cause the ebrake is seized and rusted

    Hi what if the light stays on after adjusting or before adjusting light stays on ?

    • @GirlieGarage
      @GirlieGarage  Рік тому +2

      If it’s correctly adjusted, maybe the sensor is bad or you might have an electrical problem?
