If they were that worried about criminals visiting, they would prevent Politicians from going there.

Issued for Cyprus and Bulgaria they don't ask on an EU passport. BUT they do ask , when time comes for naturalisation...Oh forgot, Ukraine does not require and neither Greece, but for the last I ' m not sure about golden visa, they have many other categories which don' t get promoted because they are cheap...

Interesting video. I will add that there is a third reason you may not want to undergo a background check - it's simply impractical for you. I was in this exact situation because I needed a "certificate of no criminal conviction" to apply for a residence permit. Sounds simple enough, so I requested it from the two countries I had lived in recently. One of them was issued in 4 hours and the other one took 3 years.

My guess is for potential future criminal investigations. Everyone gets printed so they can just scan the crime scene and find suspects. Just a guess.

i lived in thailand for years. it depends. IF you apply within thailand NO you do not need BG check. but you have to keep and deposit like $20,000 in a thai bank account.
IF you apply outside (like from the US) you do. the FBI background check no more than 90 days old. you can apply with a pension of a minimum of like $1,800 per month with the home bank statement.
the above is as 2 months ago.
then again i know: IF you go to the correct visa place in thailand--almost anything in possible.
he did not mention Cambodia. no FBI check or such from them either.
    they need/want retirees.
these "convictions" are on a case by case. IF 5yrs ago you had a DUI you should be good.
an armed burglary/embezzlement? not so good.
chile is considerably more expensive than mexico, columbia. significantly.
peru is cool. fun, inexpensive, great food living standard.
so you can retire. bring more $.

Doing research as I listened- Chile requires 5yr police clearance, so..... Peru requires Police Clearance as well... I wouldn't even mention Italy, and Mexico doesn't SEEM to require it, but at the same time they clearly mention on the govt website they can exclude persons with a criminal background if it is not in the interest of Mexico. You were saying? I found all this info before you were even done in the video.

I mean the biggest charge I had in my life is conditional discharge (probation office visit and few months medication) like a decade and half so a redeemed man but police have always milked ideas against me like a few things in report never charged with and stole from me (so could be under an investigation tag for life despite not claiming what they claimed before interview) so in the case of criminal record checks I do wonder if I can counter with defamation and slander case in an unbiased international court tbh. If I don't have to it saves the stress and discharges their nonsense.

In previous videos you've said that people working a job shouldn't be in low wage countries.
And for the most part, I agree.
However, many people interested in Financial Freedom/GeoArbitrage have skills which allow them to work remotely.
And remote workers have the option to maintain high salaries (in countries like the US or Switzerland), but live in cheaper countries (like Bulgaria).
This can drastically reduce the amount of time we need for Financial Freedom.
For instance, I'm a Blockchain Programmer.
I'm currently trying to figure out where to emigrate to, and whether I should remain an employee or start my own company.
I think it would be a great idea for you to make a video dedicated to remote workers.
    Thanks!

They now require a background check and some lawyers stress an FBI background check that shows everything. It even shows charges several years ago unless they were expunged. you will be lucky just to get away with a state background check. getting a visa is a lot of hassle and Colombia is really not that great. it is pretty dangerous if you don't know how to have situational awareness you may not make it back. Many foreigners go there and get drugged and robbed. They lose thousands and some even lose their lives. if you are a sicko and like dirty cheap prostitutes then Colombia is your place.

Thailand also doesn`t carry criminality checks per obtaining residence etc there.
Australia will consider allowing entry depending on the offence and the number of years since conviction. This is especially if you have a Police Certificate stating No Live Trace.
The No Live Trace Police Certificate that you haven`t had more convictions in the past 35 years. You also receive a letter with your Police Certificate stating the past conviction you had is no longer relevant.
The Police Certificate will show serious convictions such as rape, murder etc.

Peru has a very interesting passport in terms of visa-free travel especially given the potential to get citizenship in just over two years. I mean very few places have visa-free travel to the EU, Russia, Thailand, & Morroco, but Peru does, & they even have potential access to China, Japan, Australia, & New Zealand via the APEC Business Traveler's Card, but definitely Australia via an e-visa that makes them fairly attractive. I also like how they make it easy for their overseas citizens to vote & be represented in their legislature. There is a lot to be said for their commitment to the democratic process.
And everyone talks about EU citizenship & freedom of movement in the Shengen Zone, but no one talks about Mercosur as much & both Peruvian & Chilean citizenship potentially open up most of South America as a place to live & work through their freedom of movement regime.
