Extremely deserved, only movie as close as beautiful would be Silence. I really hoped they would've won so they could win something that night, however, La La Land is a cinematic masterpiece.
Champloo Films La La Land is really good but I find Silence more enjoyable from its cinematography it's really beautiful the natural environments... Also I can not watch La La Land without thinking that the story and style is very similar to Requiem For A Dream...
Kshitij Birdi no wait listen the story of requiem is that a couple of people want to reach a certain goal in their lives. One of of those main goals is that of Jared's girl and Jared trying to live a better life outside the addictions they are tangled to. There are title cards that show the seasons. Each season shows the amount of love and saddens being present in the film. La La Land's theme is to reach for the things you wish for while Requiem is saying don't do drugs because those dreams will never come true. Love plot for both movies were practically the same and ended up somewhat similar in it that the guy loses the girl... La La Land is good but again when I saw Requiem recently I can't help but think that whenever I see La La Land the plot structure and similar premise in drastically different tones are present... Also thought about it again and notice that their is at least one black guy who is the side character of the movie and it's set in CA...
I'm kinda torn between this, Moonlight and Silence for cinematography even though I think La La Land's the best film of the three. That scene in Moonlight where the guy's holding the kid in the water is visually stunning and pretty much every shot of Silence is great. Also lol at Damien seemingly going in for the hug and Linus just kinda patting him on the shoulder and walking on
I really liked the cinematography in Moonlight as well. Each shot was simplistic but also stood out and I cannot praise the lighting and the color palettes used in the movie, it was simply gorgeous to look at, despite also being simplistic.
I hands-down would've given Best Cinematography to Silence (that movie should've been nominated for way more tbh. Such an underrated film), but La La Land was also a gorgeous movie. All of the movies nominated had great cinematography honestly.
That category was STACKED. Honestly all films were shot beautifully. My personal favourite was Silence. But moonlight and Arrival truly drove home the themes of their stories.
So 'Cinematography' is how the academy describes Best Picture now?? I'll accept that! Seriously, glad LLL cleaned up so well at the Oscars because old style musicals are definitely a dying breed.
Okayyy well deserved... but is he ignoring Damien? I find that kinda rude :/ 1:03 ... I know that he later thanked Damien but that thing was kinda rude idk
The fact that it is shot on film really makes me happy, all directers use now is nothing but digital cameras, it doesn’t give the magic emotion to the eyes the way film does.
I usually don’t mind how the movie is shot. As long as I get a good finished product. But I do agree CinemaScope is a rarity. It always makes me curious why most big movies these days are shown in widescreen.
@@HAL-vm3wn Look at Braveheart, The English Patient, Titanic, Saving Private Ryan and American Beauty. Thoae movies won 5 years in a row for Best Director and Best Cinematography, and all except SPR won Best Picture.
La La Land is the worst Best Cinematography winner of all time, and I’ll stand by that statement unless somehow there happens to be an even worse film for that. It’s such an ugly movie with terrible colour balance and lighting. All the shots were unplanned which was obvious. The composition was disgusting. And there were just SO MANY unnecessary camera movements that didn’t work. It’s beyond me how anyone can like this movie’s cinematography. Almost the whole film made me think “wtf is this shot???” If someone can explain it to me, plz do so, coz I just can’t understand. Arrival easily had the best cinematography, it’s not even close
Receiving an award from Meryl Streep, is an honor.
I dont think people realize just HOW GOOD LaLa Land was. Peobably the biggest cinematic masterpiece of our time
Best of the century so far(except for maybe A Beautiful Mind)! The build-up would have been ruined by the ending if it wasn't done so artfully.
@@michaelhall7663 a beautiful mind LMAOOOOO you both definitely need to watch more movies
@@evelynoliveira9447 movies are subjective, everyone has their favourites and everyone has films they hate 🙏🙏
La La Land should have won more Oscars...a modern movie masterpiece in my opinion
It got the right amount of Oscars
Yes. It is a MASTERPIECE!
I fucking hated Moonlight
Ese film es basura...los actores ni saben caminar....HORRIBLE
Absolutely.. I think it definitely deserved Best Picture..

La la Land is a masterpiece
lol what about moonlight, the second most best imo, beautiful colors and light
La La Land is a cinematic masterpiece for blind people.!!!
The most well deserved Oscar of the evening imfo, the Cinematography of La La Land is just breathtaking
1. La La Land
2. Silence
3. Moonlight
4. Arrival
5. Lion
Good choices but not arrival
lol meryl saying La La Land is so cute
Hopefully, Roger Deakins will be next with BLADE RUNNER
Kyle Campbell Dunkirk might give it some stiff competition. Haven't seen Blade Runner so I can't say for sure
he was❤
And now Deakins has two Oscars... truly deserved
he did
Meryl Streep is magnificent and perfect❤
An incredibly competitive category this year. That being said, I did want 'Silence' to take this one.
Isaac Suttle same I loved that movie...
The cinematography and camera work is very much part of the story. It moves with the actors and it deserves the award

He deserved a standing ovation!!
he was like, aight fuck y'all I'm having an academy award
Javier Bardem is one of the greats
I hands-down would've given Best Cinematography to Silence (that movie should've been nominated for way more tbh. Such an underrated film), but La La Land was also a gorgeous movie. All of the movies nominated had great cinematography honestly.
I couldn’t given to Lion but I feel the same way about La La Land

Musicals are being given new life on the big and small screen
My deserving order
La La Land
Silence
Moonlight
Lion
Arrival
The opening shot alone won the award.
Meryl streep is so elegant
I love the way everyone thanks Damien... hes a genius
Evocative cinematography brought the story to life in La La Land
la la land deserves all of these
Una obra de arte en todo su esplendor
0:53
Deakins better win here in March for Blade Runner 2049.
Dual Screen and he did, about dam time...
Silence should have won this category.
Silence should have won.
Wow. Meryl was both an award-hander and a nominee in the same contest!
Salutations to Linus Sandgren Sir !!!
Modern cult classic romance movie 🎥❤
Silence is a masterpiece... period.
Emmanuel Lubezki should present the award next year
Okayyy well deserved... but is he ignoring Damien? I find that kinda rude :/ 1:03 ... I know that he later thanked Damien but that thing was kinda rude idk
Maybe he's shock
One of the most deserved wins
1:14 hahaha my professor is that guy on stage to the left bottom corner of the video
I’m pretty sure that’s Jimmy Kimmel...
@@toxic1strike167 He may have meant he looks like his professor.
What soundtrack playing in the background??
It’s a part of Epilogue from La La Land
Wow La La Land antis are so pressed, stay burning.
Silence >
What happened to my darling Emma at 1:13? Who is sitting in her chair??

La La Land has great cinematography.
I came first. How's that, jwelch5742 ?

Oh my god at first i didn't read your name and thought you were him/her!
I'm one fan of the Academy Awards than everybody else. Here's why I say, the answer is at ua-cam.com/video/SgQXYZW9Vfg/v-deo.html.
Best comment ever seen.
Aw, they cut out the best part when Meryl was fawning over Javier
Lion deserved win
I could’ve given to Lion too. But La La Land was good
No 1
Should've won Best Picture not Moonlight
La La Land is Oscar-worthy
The conjuring 2 wasn’t even nominated.
This is the fifth consecutive movie to win Cinematography that also won Best Director.
And this year broke that by not even nominating the actual Best Director

where are you deakins? the competition was not even good here
arrival was better in visuals

Keep going I want divirce just wait when I will hugh you
La mejor fotografía de este año es la de the neon demon
Moonlight deserved this 100%
Nah.... it did look great though. All these films did.
Its funny when they announce the movie "Silence" and the birds chipping
He kissed Javier Berdam's hand. He was so nervous that got wrong with Meryl's hand? 😀 Or really admires Javier?
I only have one thing to say... We sure they didn't mean Moonlight ;p
Moonlight or silence should have won this
Poor guy, thanks Emma and Ryan are they've buggered off to the bar or something! No need to thank the actors anyway.
itsybitsy999 they were presenting next so they were waiting in the wings. as soon as he walked off stage they were there to congratulate him
.
Moonlight should have won
Jesus, Bardem accent is foul
Never seen something so undeserved than this one
Who did you want to win?
Aaron Groombridge probably Toy Story or somethinh
Aaron Groombridge probably Silence, but there was no beating La La Land, the cinematography in it is a masterpiece
The cinematography in La La Land is amazing what are you on?
Guessing you haven't even seen it?
