my favorite album by them is Sung Tongs, absolutely brilliant in my opinion. some of their songs are literally transcribed acid trips its insane how they managed to accomplish such a thing.
Animal Collective loves homophones and mondegreens. It's a clever little trick in their titles and lyrics. Lion in a Coma = Lying in a coma. Brothersport = Brother support. Must Be Treeman = Must be dreaming Fall Be Kind = Fall Behind Mouth Wooed Her = Mouth Water On Delay = ándale For Reverend Green = forever in green Also the QOTSA Songs for the Deaf shirt is amazing!

No more Running is the song that cements people as an Animal Collective fan. You cant even see their face anymore the cement just covers their face and they die.
Noah's(Panda Bear)father died, his solo album 'Young Prayer' is heavily reflective of this, this album heavily reflects his own position as a father for his own children.
I would go with Strawberry Jam or Feels next, they are the next most popular and are some great albums I do think you would like their early stuff aswell since you mentioned you also like some ambience

Sometimes I listen to music and wonder if my kid is eventually going to look at me like I'm crazy and think I'm a weirdo 😂 I hope he turns out like you! Lol. I would hope that we will expose him to enough different kinds of music that he will have a good ear and an open mind.

so animal collective had this amazing run of albums starting with Sung Tongs and ending with Fall Be Kind (an EP to close out Merriwether Post Pavilion) you should definitely listen to them all cause they show the bands versatility with different styles of folk and their introduction of electronics into their sound
Ending with FBK? CHz and Painting With are great albums and CHz is one of my favorites. I would think most fans agree that the run didn’t end with fall be kind
Ah mam you should check out meeting of the water, bridge to quite, water curses, centipede Hz, strawberry jam, song tungs, ark ( if your feeling really experimental same with meeting of the water but there's a diffrents in quality), and spirit there gone, spirit they've vanished
