Thank you for posting. I grew up in Romeo in the 70's and 80's. So many great memories at Lakeside mall during those decades. I was not able to make it down to say goodbye since I live up north now but this video helped take away some of the sting of not seeing it during the final week. Thanks again :)

It’s my pleasure! Well, maybe it’s better to remember the mall the way it was. I lived in Utica when the mall opened and it was all farm land around it. I worked at Chi Chi’s and it was the busiest restaurant around at the time.
      Thank you for watching!

Thank you SO much for posting this! I remember I used to go to the lakeside mall with my mom or my aunt and we would go Christmas shopping! It was so busy, but now all of that is gone.. My best memory was going to that Anime GX store with my dad when I was 8 or 9. They always had the best Japanese snacks and stuff. This is so sad just to see everything go today..

Good times! I was there when it opened and it was still surrounded by farmland.

Excellent video as usual. Thanks for giving us one last look. Never thought I would see this day.The American mall was the closest thing to a European town sqaure or Piazza. Walking around there gave a chance to see other people in real life. Going forward I guess everyone will just continue walking around alone and gazing into their phones! Very very sad.

Apparently the Sterling Heights wants to turn it into lakeside town center. So having residential communities with stores and restaurants and such. I guess sort of like an outdoor mall.

I think the main cause for lakeside closing was the fact that parridge creek is literally down the street, somerset AND great lakes is not that far away, and the mall was just older. Pretty sure we're moving towards malls being a suburban attraction only.

@@KayBaudelaireTheFirst yes definitely because Park Creek is right down the street. An outdoor mall where you can take your dog for a walk and watch live bands on the weekend during the summer. I was just thinking that Lakeside Mall should’ve brought in bands as well but they never did.

6:28 I will miss this place. From the old "Wizard's of the Coast" store near the food court, to the times I would drop off my ex at the Panera Bread (Even though she left me for a guy that worked there, as such is life) to the fun oddball stores that would pop up from time to time, I know I will miss the times spent there.
But alas, Malls are toast now that Amazon has taken their place. I hope whatever is done with the space, makes it jsut as useful as it has been before.

Lived in the area, shopped there from the beginning until the early 90's, then lost interest in the place. It's probably been fifteen years since I stepped inside. My favorite place to park and enter was Hudson's lower level. After shopping, sit down for dinner at Chi-Chi's... oh well, everything goes away eventually.

It would have been a cool to show a before and after. I live in Westland and never had a chance to go there.. it's sad to see it's closed, but thats what on line shopping does. Alot of stores are struggling to stay open.. personally I like shopping in person especially clothes that way you can feel the fabric try it on, due to the fact there are so many millions of returns because the items not what you expect or too small to big, whatever the case may be why people return items..

@@angelamonroe7737 I was at Bank Of America yesterday and there’s a sign that says you can get cash back for online shopping with their debit cards. That’s sad. They’re not supporting brick and mortar stores and they should offer cash back for in person shopping.

@@michaelanthonyvideos I think malls aren't going to completely go out of business but they will definitely be less of them. Somerset, briarwood, great lakes and twelve oaks should all be secure because of the location of them, but I do have some concerns for like Fairlane, Oakland, Westland and Southland. Seems like the malls are being taken completely out of the city and only into suburbia

Yeah, a couple of yrs ago that they might turn this into some warehouse. Wtf knows. This is exactly what El Puente Mall looks like in El PUENTE, CA. Also, West Covina is about to go down the same way. And pretty much in the future there will be absolutely no malls left across the world b/c Amazon and online shopping is "the new norm" now.
